My family and I (husband and 2 babies)live "across the pond", as they say(30 miles out to sea on Nantucket Island). On our regular trips to shop and get away to the mainland we stay at the Bayside Hotel. It has a great proximity to shopping, entertainment, dining, kids attractions, and tourist sights. We often meet other family members there, who come from off-Cape, to stay and swim in the in door or out door pools, use the hot tub, walk along the small bayfront beach area, use the game room, enjoy the comp continental breafast in the morning (sometimes a little messy if they have a large group or bus tour come through, but generally everything is great). This place is so lovely and not pricey. Not cheap, but not crazy, especially in the shoulder seasons when we can do our travelling. We had planned our wedding reception in their great function rooms (we eloped eventually to avoid the hassle of planning....)and the staff is just so friendly and amazing. We adore this hotel and they have a great kid-friendly attitude while still maintaining a nice and neat atmosphere for those travelling without kids or empty-nest types. I didn't give this place a 10 becuase I assumme that's reserved for 5 star places, but for it's class of hotel (very clean, nice, modern, friendly, cheery) it definately gets a 9 in our book.....we plan on staying there as much as possible in the future.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Bayside Resort Hotel

The place was wonderful

from howardette
I planned a Cape Cod trip in mid-October 2004, traveling with another couple, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Bayside Resort. I must say I was a little leary after reading the two reviews dated 10/2 and 9/6 but found none of the problems that they listed.

I agree with the last review dated 10/20 that the place was very clean and the service personnel exceptionally courteous and helpful. The package was spectacular, including free ferry tickets to your choice of Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, a free dinner at your choice of two restaurants, and an additional $6 discount at a number of other restaurants -- not to mention the free expanded continental breakfast every morning of your stay.

Everyone was completely satisfied with the hotel and we'll be sure to stay again on future visits to Cape Cod.

Convenient to Local Attractions

I took a 5 day bus tour to Cape Cod in October 2004. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very courteous. This hotel is a couple of blocks from a bog for walking around its perimeter (trails); there were many local dog walkers so it was quite safe. It is also a safe walk (through a subdivision of homes) to a local beach (about 2 miles or less each way). We had a buffet breakfast in the mornings which made processing a bus tour much faster. The TV worked and had many channels available; it was quiet in the evenings - no kids running down the halls or adults slamming doors when they came in for the night. Our bus driver drove us to the malls in nearby Hyannis for shopping. I liked the smallish size of the hotel with only 2 stories; no waits for elevators; handicapped seniors were placed on the first floor. The hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants. I hope to take another trip and stay there again. I like my comfort and this hotel met my needs.

Worst place on earth

This place is simply dirty and disgusting.

As soon as I walked in, whole building smelled like public bathroom. The room smelled and my girlfriend almost puked because of it.

We found variety of hairs on our blankets. The blankets looked like they haven't been washed for long time.

We like travels and have been to many hotels...but simply this is the Worst Hotel ever.

t waste your money!!!

What a disappointment!! My husband and I took our first vacation in 5 years, spending our hard earned money, and what did we get? A room with moths flying around, two sunken in beds with mattresses that were harder than the floor, dirty/stained linens, and barely enough water pressure to wet the tub. We booked through Expedia, and contacted them as well as the hotel management. At first the hotel told us there weren't any rooms available, but Expedia called them, and all of a sudden there was a whirlpool suite ready for us. Problem is, the bed was the same. The advertising is extremely misleading. No irons or ironing boards, no hair dryers, extremely sparse rooms, all for about $150 per night. To be honest, it was about the quality of a Motel 6. After a very sleepless night, we checked in at the Cape Codder in Hyannis. Don't be fooled by the corny name!! It is everything you want from a vacation at the Cape! PLEASE don't waste your money at Bayside. For the same price (if you are a AAA member), we stayed in a luxurious room in a wonderful establishment, and enjoyed the rest of our stay.

Next time, less kid friendly would be better!

We just came back from a trip to Cape Cod and had a great time! We were invited to join friends who had won a trip and the Bayside was one of the destinations from which they could choose. I must agree with the many reviews, this is a family friendly "resort". I do feel that their website (and even the name) is a little misleading. From our room the only view of a bay was if you stuck your neck out the window and looked to your extreme left. I think there were a very limited number of rooms (on the very end) that viewed the bay---which was not that impressive. Not really a fault of the Bayside, but OUR MAIN COMPLAINT was being able to hear children running up and down the halls---almost constantly. Thankfully they didn't stay up very late and with the a/c fan turned on in our room, we were able to get a decent night's sleep although the beds and pillows were rock hard! The room had very basic furnishings and you practically had to run around in the shower to get wet from the trickling shower head. If I had it to do over I think I could have found better accommodations for the price!

Perfect Family Getaway

My husband and I have found the best place for families to stay for their Cape Cod vacations. The Bayside Resort has a warm and friendly atmosphere with fantastic rates (they offer AAA discounts) which include free breakfast every day of your stay and discount coupons for dinners at local restaurants. It was incredibly clean and we never lacked for anything. The indoor pool was great and my son to an instant shine to the jacuzzi. It's location is great for families because it is so very close to activities for all ages. We have found our new home for our vacation and it's called the Bayside Resort Hotel

Best staff, great location, clean rooms!

As an innkeeper in a very busy tourist town, I place great value on my vacation time. I discovered the Bayside 6 years ago, and have never stayed any place else. We are timeshare owners at the resort next door to the Bayside, but choose the Bayside time and time again because of the wonderful staff, amenities, cleanliness and overall value. I highly recommend the Bayside Resort!

I felt like I was in paradise here! The staff is sooo friendly and you can tell they love their jobs. I made a mistake in booking a room and they upgraded me as if it were their fault, no questions asked. The front desk is very helpful and if you request something, it is at your room in 5 minutes. The rooms are also very clean, and housekeeping is run like a tight ship. The poolside bar is like those at 5 star resorts, so that was impressive, and the private beach/cove was was so relaxing! I felt like I was a million miles away, stranded on my own private island! The indoor pub is fun and friendly with its theme nights, and the bartender was the best! She made us complimentary snacks and made us feel very welcome. The downside is there is no full service restaurant onsite, but all the area restaurants are excellent, and the resort provides coupons for them! One tip-if you are there to escape kids, have the continental bkfast in your room and stay away from the cove and game room until later in the afternoon when kiddies are out sightseeing. Other than that, it's heaven on earth. When you stop in also check out the fitness center (never crowded) and consider having your next big party in one of their beautiful function rooms. I stayed in a jacuzzi suite and was well worth the 160 a nite. You get a lot of bang for your buck, and I seriously can't wait to go back!

This is a good place to stat

Calling this hotel Bayview is stretching it a bit. It's more like a large pond with a large pile of sand dumped on the shore. Once you've realised that this hotel is not actually by the sea, things get better.

It’s clean comfortable and well priced. The rooms are a little on the small side, but if you don’t intend spending a large account of time in your hotel room, then it’s fine.

Staff are helpful and welcoming.

Breakfast was basic, the standard American continental breakfast... If you’re from the UK and were expecting either a full cooked English Breakfast or the normal European continental breakfast then you’re in for a disappointment! It’s enough to get you going in the morning.

All in all I’d recommend this one.

The Personel were very Friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Convenient to the shops and resteraunts in the area.. I LOVED that they have a pool on the inside and outside. The gameroom was an added extra surprise.. We are planning a return to the Cape and staying at the Bayside Resort again.

Top Local Tips for West Yarmouth

Lobsters are not cheaper You would think that you would get lobsters cheaper, but we were disappointed to find that it's the same price at home. Two local restaurants, Salty's and Yarmouth House overcooked our lobsters and the Yarmouth House was the 2 lbs for $48.00!

Family Trip We like everything, Dining, Adventure, Art Galleries, even play in mini golf

Yarmouth House We ate at this restaurant and it was one of our favorite restaurants in our 10 day trip to New England. It offers a variety of food. The food and service were excellent! We enjoyed everything about this restaurant!
