Disappointing. We had stayed there a number of years ago and were very pleased, but the quality had deteriorated, especially in terms of the furnishings.

My husband and I have stayed at J&W once or twice a year for several years since we have family in the area and love New England. The hotel has always been exceptionally clean and the restaurant quality quite good. Many times we purchased cakes and pastries which were beautifully displayed in the lobby, and we were disappointed to see this eliminated. It was a great advertisement for the School and the excellence of the pastry chefs. We always enjoyed the enthusiasm of the young student staff but have one major complaint...and that is the elimination of a unique personalized service that distinguished the hotel from all others in the area....the complimentary morning coffee room service.

At check-in, guests would receive a card for completion, and we would leave it on our door in the evening with our order for coffee/juice, etc. including the time we would like it delivered. It was fantastic and one of the main reasons we stayed @ J&W. Unfortunately, you no longer provide this personalized service -- what a shame. Conformity (like the Ramada and Hampton Inn) is not what your guests are looking for @ J&W.

Top Local Tips for Seekonk

Seekonk is Providence's shopping area Seekonk seems to be the major shopping area near Providence, apart from the Providence Place mall. Shops include Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, Pier 1, Staples, Office Max and many, many more. All the college kids ask to go to Seekonk when their parents visit.

Taxi vs. Rental Car We didn't rent a car, but it might have been less expensive. We spent about $60 in three taxi trips. We were in town to evaluate the Johnson & Wales University. We took a taxi to/from dinner (we went into Providence Italian district) and took a taxi to the University. So it's a little pricey getting around via taxi.
