Top Local Tips for Provincetown
Provincetown in general I didn't realize how most of the places are so close to Commerical Street, so if facing the street it would be incredibly noisy. It was also almost impossible to drive the few blocks to town center as the street is the most narrow I have ever seen and there are people everywhere. There was no place to park if you wanted to just pop into town or go to a restaurant. If you don't have a water view or direct beach access, it's not the place to stay! Renting a bike is the best way to get around. Also, if you can rent a boat from the marina in town and take it to Long Point, it's well worth the money. Be careful at the beaches in July - we had to leave the sea shore because of the green flies. The beaches in P'town and Long Point were fine though.
Provincetown gay scene We were a faily of 4-Mom, Dad, one son 19yr and one daugter, 20 and we almost felt in the minority. It was clear that this was a great place for families to vacation, but don't be surprised by the prevelance of gay themed shows and activities.
getting around ptown You can take a taxi, rent a bike, or hire a pedal cab to get around Ptown. At night, the pedal cabs are fun to do but make sure you hold on tight!
