Historical Traveller Reviews of Best Western Cold Spring Hotel

Convenient

from Rakdanit
After an unfortunate stay at a Best Western in Europe, we decided to give the chain another try. We booked the room in Plymouth, Massachusetts for the last weekend in October.
We were given our room immediately on check in (even though we arrived early.) The staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. And the best part was that the room was spacious, and spotless. It comes with a coffee maker and there is a second sink outside the bathroom, so two people can use the "washing" facilities at the same time. The room also comes with a generous continental breakfast, that the Pilgrims could have feasted on for a year!
The motel is located a short walk from the town wharf where there are numerous restaurants , about a minute from the heart of the historic district (walking distance if the weather isn't extreme) and is about 3 miles from Plymouth Plantation.
The rooms a exactly as pictured in the Best Western site.

Great place in the summer.

from caroly6
This place was so nice. Another reviewer mentioned that her room was not new. It seems different buildings were built at different times. The building we were in seemed new and had internet access. It was also very close to the breakfast room. We stayed here in August and it was beautiful. The grounds are full of flowers and they were constantly doing work on the property. The breakfast room has all its tables outside and on a lovely summer morning it couldn't be beat. The outdoor pool was up on a hill and very well maintained.
This place is great for a summer getaway.

great pool - good value

The Best Western Cold Spring was a great find for our family. We traveled with 4 children under the age of three, and the Best Western Cold Spring suited our needs perfectly. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, and the pool was fantastic.

My only suggestion would be for them to add little refrigerators in the rooms - with small kids you need a little 'frige!

Great Choice

We read about this hotel on tripadvisor, and decided to give it a try. We were very happy we did. The Cold Spring has a variety of different types of rooms. Ours was in a little building all its own, which we found fun; though most are in a more conventional motel format. The room itself was a suite with two bedrooms and a shared bath--great when traveling with our son. Everything was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't have time to use the pool, but it was nicely landscaped and well-situated. The breakfast was served at outdoor tables under umbrellas, and the food--English muffins, bagels, doughnuts, cereal, etc.--was kept very fresh.
The hotel is a short walk from the harbor attractions, and we were glad not to be staying in the middle of the hubbub there. This was much better. We also want to recommend the fabulous new Thai restaurant on the main street in Plymouth. We had a wonderful meal there. They've only been open for about a month, but people are already discovering them. Plimouth Plantation was fantastic--well worth the price.

Best value between Boston and Cape Cod!

Best Westen Cold Springs in Plymouth, MA is charming. The rooms were spotless, large, comfortable and smoke free! The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the continental breakfast and the beautifully landscaped outdoor pool area.

Plimoth Plantation is just a mile or two away and is definitely a must see for people interested in the early history or the USA.

We had a special time in Plymouth

The Best Western Cold spring was a great family getaway. We were able just to enjoy the kids without any hussel or fuss. Lovely Beaches in the area were very relaxing. The accomadations were extremely clean and the staff very friendly and accomadating. I would reccommend this place to a friend.

Best place to stay in Plymouth

from JT03
When making our vacation plans to visit Cape Cod, we 'stumbled' across this pearl. Not knowing anything about either the motel or Plymouth, we took a leap of faith. What we found was a wonderful staff, immaculate grounds, incredibly clean room for a fair price. The continental breakfast was fresh every morning. The housekeeping staff were friendly, efficient, and thorough. The location is less than 1 mile from the Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock, dozens of restaurants and shops, all of which are an easy walk from your front door.

Our family enjoyed our stay so much that we fell in love with Plymouth, Cape Cod, and this wonderfully maintained and managed facility. We're coming back!

Great place to stay with kids

from A TripAdvisor Member
When we (my husband son (12) and daughter (10) and I) first arrived at the hotel I was a little taken aback. It is a motel (each room has an outside entry) not a hotel. But the location, service and pool made it a great hotel to stay at.

The hotel staff made great recommendations for dinner (Cabby Shack), and attractions (Lobster Tails). While the hotel is not modern (rooms haven't been updated in many years) it was very clean. The pool was especially clean!

If you have kids who like to swim, ask to stay in the building at the top of the hill which is closest to the pool.

Great Stay!

I read the rave reviews of this motel and it more than lived up to our expectations. Beautiful location! We walked down to Plymouth Harbor early in the morning to see the sun rise. Great breakfast. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The only thing we could have wanted differently was an indoor pool, as it was too cold to use the outdoor pool.

A truly lovely property

from shirleygr
We stayed here for three nights. The room we were in was large enough for two queens and a roll away without being crowded. It was so clean, I felt comfortable taking a bath. Everything is immaculate and well-kept. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is very nice. The staff were a delight to talk to. I would stay at this hotel again without a second thought.

Top Local Tips for Plymouth

Plymouth Waterfront Plymouth has a very lovely waterfront - so recommend to travelers to enjoy it. Many waterfront seafood restaurants. The Mayflower II is located on the Waterfront as well as Plymouth Rock. Found early June to be a wonderful time to go to Plymouth. The weather is mild (not too hot or too cold), many flowers are in bloom and there aren't a lot of tourists yet as the summer travel season doesn't really start there until later June. But, warning, a lot of school field trips are still in full swing at Plimouth Plantation and Mayflower II so may want to work your visits to these locations accordingly.

value A couple things we did, that we wish we wouldnt have because they were overpriced for what you get. Boarding the Mayflower II and taking a boat ride around the Bay. Not a Good value.

Dining The Lobster Shack is good.
