Top Local Tips for North Dartmouth

Things to do near Dartmouth/New Bedford, Mass. We were warned not to stay in this area for some reason, which is crazy! Actually it was perfect for us! Only 1/2 hour to Cape Cod where we went a couple of days; close to the Interstate; nearby New Bedford has a fantastic must-see whaling museum plus a 13 block restored area from the historic whaling days in the 1800's. Beautiful! Also huge fascinating active fishing port with hundreds of fishing boats to look at, plus tall ships etc. Very interesting! On the west side of Dartmouth is Falls River which has the attraction Battleship Cove with a battleship, destroyer, corvette, Russian submarine etc for people to climb all over. I think most kids/teens would enjoy that more than Cape Cod to be honest. Only 45 minutes from Plymouth with the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock. Very nice.
