This hotel is very nice. The staff members were friendly and professional. My room (314) was spacious and had a jacuzzi. The rooms are so quiet I sometimes felt that I was the only person staying in the hotel. It is only one block away from the Boston subway. I would stay here again if I ever travel back to Boston.

Finally, a boutique hotel in Cambridge!

from Finnatic
I lived in Cambridge for years and after years of visiting, we got tired of crashing on friends' couches, my husband and I discovered this place. Cambridge has either overpriced generic hotels that don't care and don't need to, or lovely B&Bs which are crowded, expensive and bereft or parking. This converted firehouse is in a great area, has inclusive parking, and had a fantastic breakfast each day (the homemade granola stays in my memory). The hotel is decorated in a charming manner, full of Americana and firehouse memoribilia, our room was small but well-appointed. We loved the Kendall and plan to stay here everytime now.

Charming Hotel!

The Kendall Hotel is a refreshing change from "cookie-cutter" chain hotels. Our room was spotless and warmly decorated, the linens were Ralph Lauren, and when we were in our room, it was so quiet, we felt like we were the only people in the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was quite good -- delicious scones and breads, yoghurt, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and New England Coffee. Given that the breakfast and parking were included in our room rate, the hotel was good value for money -- especially for Boston. The hotel is just a short walk from the T and only two stops away from Harvard Square. The drive from the hotel to Logan Airport was easy and short. I would stay there again quite happily!

Very nice place!

We had trouble findng a place in Boston until we happened on the Kendall. What a great find! Nice staff, cute rooms, and the restaurant was wonderful... The fish and chips are still the best we've ever had and the fireman's bfast featured around (no kidding) 10 slices of bacon! Staff were very helpful and we appreciated that the location was removed from the Boston bustle.

Now, the drive getting there was INSANE... thanks to a missing sign and Bostons nutty traffic and even kookier street pattern. But that just gave us an excuse to have a nice bottle of wine with dinner to unwind.

Try the Kendall... you won't be sorry!

Clean, comfortable, friendly

We stayed here the last weekend in October and were pleasantly surprised. It is an old building, but completely renovated. We checked in quickly, had free parking, and went straight up to our clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable room. We booked through expedia, and only spent $126 total (per night). Wow! Linens were great, decor was pleasant, bathroom was spacious, parking is free. Just a great experience. We will stay here again, and have told all of our friends to stay here next time the head to the Boston/Cambridge area!

Fantastic Hotel

Just got back from our stay at the Kendall hotel. Absolutly loved everything about it. It is a beautiful hotel in a renovated fire house. We stayed in two different rooms becuase of a mixup with your flight, but when I had to call and rearrange our reservations due to flight issues, the staff was vary nice, and extremely helpfull. Both rooms were great, with very comfortable beds, and cool, individually decorated rooms. The Hotel is located night next to MIT, and a few steps from the subway stop. Would plan another trip to Boston, just for an opportunity to stay at the Kendall again.

Excellent Stay!

I've stayed in many hotels, B&B's, suites, inns and highly recommend the Kendall. Beautifully restored, warm and inviting, clean comfortable rooms, nice hardy breakfast. Because of the parking package and buffet breakfast, it was very reasonably priced. The walk across the Longfellow Bridge to Beacon Hill is wonderfully scenic with its views of the city, sailboats and kayakers. I found the staff friendly and accommodating.

Great Little Hotel

We had a great stay at The Kendall. You can't beat the location. The "T" is less than 1/2 a block away. It's also in a great spot in Cambridge. VERY quiet. We returned late a couple of nights and it was very quiet and felt VERY safe. The hotel is a great bargain too. Free parking, breakfast and a morning Boston Globe. The hotel room was spotless and the large bathroom was immaculate We have stayed at a lot of hotels all around the country and this one ranks as one of our favorites. We will definetly stay again.

Great Location, Superior Staff, Great Value!

We stayed at the Kendall from July 14th-18th had a wonderful stay the location is AWESOME about 50 yards away from the "T" Red Line which will take you either into Downtown Boston or over to Harvard Square. A block away from the Charles River perfect location walking as well.

Our room was spacious (2 14 year-old girls and 2 adults) we stayed in a room with 2 queen sized beds, not much noise Hotel is located pratically on MIT campus. Offers complimentary breakfast buffet every morning (that was just okay) it consisted of Coffee, Orange Juice, Sausage, Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Scones, Breakfast Potatoes, Yogurt & SlicedFresh Fruit. Housekeeping staff were Excellent. Linens are DIVINE. We will definately return. If your stay is on the weekend, we parked next door behind the bank and didn't pay for parking the ENTIRE weekend.

Great Stay at the Kendall!

from mom2B
We just got back from staying at the Kendall Hotel... We really enjoyed our stay, it was right near the Red Line T station, which made it very easy to get into and around the city. They are also right by the stops for the trolley tour, which was a convient way to see the city...The hotel rooms were reasonably priced and very clean. Yes they are a bit small, but from my experience most city hotel rooms are a bit smaller... The staff was very nice and helpful. They gave us directions on how to get places using the T, which was very helpful for the first time... The breakfast was basically a nice continental breakfast. They had some granola, yogurt, pastries, breads, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice, and coffee. It was very fresh and good. Besides the breakfast we didn't eat at the restaurant, but it was busy when we checked in around lunch time... They also have parking at the hotel for $10 /day (which is cheap compared to in the city prices), the parking lot is small and could be troublesome for people with larger vehicles...I would definately recommend staying at this hotel. It is close to the colleges in Cambridge, convient to the T, and very clean.

Despite a few quirks, lovely stay.

I really liked this hotel, despite a few minor glitches. The staff members were very pleasant and friendly. All of my questions were answered with a smile and I was given a delicious cookie from the restaurant upon check-in. What a treat after my long trip to Boston! I loved my room in the old firehouse section (314). It was immaculately clean. The only problems I had were the bed was too firm (simply my opinion), and the air conditioning was not yet running in the hotel. The unseasonably warm weather took the staff by surprise and they were not able to get the system running on such short notice. But, with my windows open I was quite comfortable. All in all, this hotel wins my vote for being gracious, accommodating, and very quiet. The homey decor and the addition of antiques in the rooms make you feel comfortable and is far superior to a typical sterile hotel environment. If I travel to Boston in the future I will book at The Kendall.

Top Local Tips for Cambridge

Cosi There is a great little restaurant/cafe called "COSI" just down the street from the hotel (walk past the Kendall MIT Station). Great daily soups, sandwiches, pizzas and relaxing atmosphere.

Legal Seafood New Englanders talk about it for a reason, it is really good seafood and there is one accross the street from the Kendall.

Boston Pops Splurge and get the individual table seating right up front and order a bottle of champagne to sip during the performance.
