Thinking Out of the Box

from A TripAdvisor Member
Came in for a conference and I have one word for the Hotel Marlowe: WOW!!! They threw out the hotel cookie cutter for this one folks. The decor is funky and fun (I'm thinking retro-African with some Egyptian thrown in, nautica - hard to pin down); the beds are comfortable and the cuisine at the Bambara is out of this world. I can't say enough about the staff - superb. You simply have to stay here, even if you don't have any business in Cambridge. It's worth the trip!!!

Best value around

Ok...this hotel is relatively new, which MUST explain the fact that its not listed in guidebooks yet (Frommers, Fodors, etc). Don't let that put you off because they undoubtedly will be in their next editions.
This hotel is excellent. My girlfriend and I stayed there for a wedding and had the basic room but it was one of the nicest rooms we've ever stayed in. It wasn't huge (it was the basic room after all) but that was easy to overlook with all the great features...from the faux bearskin blanket to the Aveda bathroom products. Throw in the bathrobes, the heavenly bed, and the great wall adornments and this place becomes the best hotel around. All this for around $100/night (we did have the wedding group rate, rack rate is undoubtedly more but can't be that much more). At $100/night this place is a steal. It's as simple as this...if you are coming to Boston, stay here.

This is a beautiful spot. Not in the heart of Cambridge or Boston, but easily accessible to Boston by the Green Line. Great restaurants nearby. Charming and efficient hotel, with gorgeous rooms and lobby.
Comfortable beds, great towels, and very efficient staff (except for the doorman/valet parking staff who kept misplacing our car -- but this was more comical than annoying). Decor was striking. Not sure I'd want it in my living room, but it worked for the hotel. Rates will probably soar as the hotel gains popularity, but with great internet rates still available, we'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great Hotel

We booked here sight unseen thru Expedia when very little else was available in Boston. I don't think we could have found a nicer hotel at any price. Everything was first rate. The other reviews say it all.

A Destination Hotel

I've never been to a hotel before where I would actually go back to the city just to stay at the hotel again. However, the Hotel Marlowe is a destination by itself. The hotel is amazing, the wine hour a nice touch, and the staff is extremely warm and accommodating as if you were visiting good friends. The hotel also has one of the best dog policies around. Our dog was even greeted by a personalized welcome sign at the front door. Other hotels, stores, and businesses can learn a lot about customer service from the Hotel Marlowe. Bravo! What a superb way to run a business. Sincere and friendly customer service at its finest while still being reasonably priced. Please don't change!

Awesome Hotel!

The rooms were beautifully done with great comfort and elegance and not to mention the comfortable bed. The bathroom was filled with fine toiletries and big plush bath towels. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. And one of the nicer things is that it's right next door to a mall which made it so convenient. Thanks for making my stay so enjoyable and comfortable.

the best yet.

From the moment we stepped on the premises, this was as good as it gets. The unique decore, the wonderful and helpful staff. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The best sleep we've had at a hotel in years. You really have to expeirence it to appreciate it. Then to top it off a 3 story mall is attached. THe galleria, with a cheesecake factory restaurant. It's a short walk to Greenline 5 mins.
maybe 10 to the Redline. A taxi to downtown about $10, same to Harvard square. Nice view of the north end of the city if you get riverview room. Try it you'll love it.

My all time favorite hotel!

Wow! What a gem. A fun, funky, stylish hotel with lots of color, great staff and a great location. I have to think of another reason to visit Boston so that I can stay here again! Makes all other hotels seem drab and dreary.

Absolutely perfect in every way!

It is everything you could imagine and then some. The rooms actually look like the pictures. Staff are acommodating and knowledgeable. Every amenity you could imagine including the use of a yoga mat and other equipment if you need them. Very high tech. Very approachable. You will regret it if you don't book this one-of-a-kind experience!

Just returned from a two night stay at the Hotel Marlowe. Our overall experience was fabulous. The staff was very helpful, the concierge made dinner reservations for us and provided directions and knowledgeable recommendations and fulfilled every request. Very convenient to public transportation. Rooms are luxurious, and quiet. Be sure to utilize the hotel bicycles and ride along the river to MIT and Harvard. We are looking forward to our next stay in Boston and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

Rely on Charlie As soon as you arrive get a Charlie Card. A week's pass on the T for $15 - absolute bargain.

Rooftop Dining in the North End Our concierge at the Hotel Marlowe recommended this tip and we're glad we listened! Consider dining on the rooftop of Ristorante Fiore in the Italian North End of Boston. We already had dinner reservations at another restaurant, so afterwards we enjoyed dessert - the best tiramisu we've ever had - and muscato by moonlight on the rooftop! It can be quite bustling up there so if possible make reservations.

Museum of Science Check with the hotel concierge. There are often deals for MoS and specials for Marlowe guests that are not published!
