beautiful lobby/atrium but no elevator

from RIGuy1024
I booked this room for $67/night on Hotwire and wasn't sure what to expect.

First, it is tucked away on what appears to be a Cisco Corporate campus. Second, I checked in around midnight and had to wait for about 5 minutes for someone to come and check me in. This was only after another employee went looking for someone to check me in.

Word of warning - do not come to this hotel/area hungry late night. There is NOTHING available in the immediate area and the restaurant stops serving food. The guy at the front desk offered to put together a salad for me but I declined and headed to my room.

He had given me a map of the hotel (?) to find my room on the 2nd floor. Except for some resorts I have stayed in with sprawling grounds, I have never been given a map for a 3-story Holiday Inn but I took it and started navigating the atrium. To my suprise - NO ELEVATOR! So I carried my bag and briefcase up to the second floor, located my room and entered.

The room itself was warm as can be (the air wasn't on at all, I had to turn it on upon entering) but was well appointed and spacious. The free high-speed internet was a plus!

The breakfast buffet ($10.99 I believe) was a typical hotel breakfast.

I would definitely stay here again especially at the $67 price. The free internet coupled with the comfortable room definitely make it a worthwhile stay.

Good hotel for a quick overnight stay

from MrGelhs204
Great location for an overnight stay. While the property has gone some upgrading, much needs to be done. My room was functional, but the drapes were old and damaged. Good bed and free internet were a plus, but very disappointed with the fitness room (nothing worked) and the restaurant (very slow service, OK food). Busy hotel with lots of groups in for dinner, trade shows, special events.

Friendly staff makes this a great place for a quick overnight stay. Did not find it a good value for the price.

Not bad for being in the middle of MA

from mrsf888
Previous reviews on this site indicated that this place isn't as bad as it used to be. Although I have no idea what it was like before, I guess I saw enough of the hotel's "oldness" to concur that this hotel has improved.

The front lobby of the hotel is inviting enough, with a nice little lounge area and clear view into the indoor garden at the center of the hotel, which appears to be where big parties (perhaps even wedding parties) are held. The bar and restaurant in the hotel are sufficient for the weary business traveler who has to trek to the middle of MA.

The room itself is where the "oldness" of the hotel remains. Again, although the room also was sufficient for the weary businessman traveling to the middle of MA, it did have a bit of a dingy feel to it. Maybe it was because of the poor lighting and seemingly older furniture. Maybe it was because I'm spoiled from staying at "upscale" hotels during my business and personal trips. Nevertheless, my expecations of a "regular" Holiday Inn hotel were not met completely by this place, regardless of its location.

Great beds, friendly staff - greta hotel

from jowardcsco
This hotel has undergone major refurbishments both for the hotel infrastructure as well as the management.

The beds are as good as the 'other' hotels with their 'dream' beds.

The staff are friendly, helpful and responsive.

The general manager has a reputation for turning hotels around and he is living up to that reputation here.

This is not the same Boxborough Holiday Inn from a few years ago.
Stay here

Very nice

from Apple414
Very charming hotel, rooms were wonderful, quiet, clean and private. Staff was pleasant, service was prompt. I would stay there again.

The area is a little remote. Note that there isn't much around this hotel, especially as far as places to eat and things to do. If you plan to stay here, be prepared to drive a distance to restaurants and such.

Excellent Front Desk Staff

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel was very nice and the courtyard was beautiful (There was a wedding ceremnoy there the day I arrived.) I stayed for a week, and to be honest, while the place is nice, the thing that will bring me back is the service of the hotel staff. In particular, the front desk staff always greeted me as I passed by and remembered me. This is something everyone did, not just one or two of them. A+ for effort and quality guys!

Great front desk staff

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel was very elegant and quiet with a beautiful courtyard. There was always someone at the front desk 24/7 to help me, for example when I stayed there on December 31st 2003 the front desk manager personally brought food to my room when all other servers were busy in the restaraunt. I was suprised at how big my room was and with the view I had of the enclosed courtyard. The front desk also helped me find directions to the Museum of fine arts in boston and there is an entire rack of tourist information about sites to go see in the lobby too! which made for a great site seeing day for me and my wife.

Friendly staff and nice tropical atmosphere

This hotel is a very nice place. It is not your average Holiday Inn. There is a beautiful courtyard with fountains and trees overhanging the pool. I just really liked the setting. Also the staff was very helpful. The night clerk got me a room upgrade I wanted at the last minute and was very courteous. The hostess in the garden court restaurant was also really cool and was kind to my two kids. Definitely a positive experience. Thanks guys.

Loved the Staff friendly Hotel, High speed internet was great

from A TripAdvisor Member
Friendly accomodating staff checked us in to our comfortable large room. Our stay was excellent from the start. The people at the desk went out of the way to make sure that we are going to be happy with our stay. They signed us up in the Holiday inn club, Which gets us points and free cont. breakfast. The room was so clean and Wonderful. We had a great time at the bar and had a great meal. The high speed internet access was great. They have great people working at that hotel. and one could tell from the start. We had to be in a town about 10 miles oway and I am happy that we could not get a hotel room and ended up in the Holiday inn. and the next time we will do the same. the drive is well worth the great service. STAY AWAY

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had a weekend conference at which I was supposed to present classes all day Sat and Sun. Firday night at the hotel was fine. Saturday night, however, was a disaster. The hotel rooms all overlook an atrium. All night Saturday people were partying in the atrium like it was Mardis Gras and the staff would not help contain the noise. The night manageer literally said "There is nothing we can do. On a busy Saturday night we usually get quiet by around 2. Obviously this is a party hotel and one to stay away from unless you are among the drunken revellers.

no late-night food options don't come to the area hungry, you will have to drive to Marlborough to find anything late night (TGI Friday's, Bertucci's, Olive Garden, etc.)
