Excellent Service

Traveled all over the world and this hotel's service is up there with the best. The staff is constantly going out of their way to assist you. I have tried saving money buy staying at less expensive hotels in Boston, but the service and cleanliness of other hotels does not stack up to XV Beacon. I won't ever stay at another hotel in Boston.

Wonderful hotel. Exceptional service, charming, quiet...great complimentary mercedes car service around town - fantastic. Stayed twice in the past year and loved it each time. Drew Barrymore was staying there!

The Beacon is in a great location. They offered excellent service. The room offered no view of the city. That was the only downfall of our stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed at XV Beacon at the end of June and with so many choices in Boston, we researched before finally picking this hotel. The hotel is centrally located and our expectations were exceeded, to say the least. The hotel decor is minimalist but they maintain a historic ambience. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room, though small, was impeccable. They cater to business travelers but include added touches like an in-room fireplace and towel warmer plus a complimentary bottle of water with turn-down service each night. The mini-bar is well stocked but you will pay, as usual in any nice hotel. The hotel restaurant, the Federalist, is one of the top in the city but was never crowded when we were there. The bar was a nice place for an after-dinner drink and we did not have to fight for a seat at the bar. The hotel provides a car service and not only were we able to get the car whenever we desired, but the drivers were courteous and informative. The work-out room is small but had ample cardio-machines and a few free weights. The rooftop deck should not be missed with panoramic views of the city and harbor. We will stay here again when visiting Boston.

Intimate Luxury

My husband and I stayed at the XV Beacon for our anniversary. We stayed in a studio - very spacious with beautiful furnishings, linens, great sound system. The bath room was a bit small for a hotel in this price range, but all appointments were luxurious. The best part of this hotel is the service - it is impeccable. The staff are courteous, friendly, not fussy, and very responsive. The restaurant (Federalist) has absolutely fantastic food - and the service, as in the rest of the hotel is wonderful. This is a VERY pricey hotel, but worth the money if you want someplace intimate, with wonderful personalized attention. It is what all top hotels should be.

Great Place for the Business Minded

The XV Beacon caters to the business minded male who demands impeccable service and comfortable, masculine surroundings. We really enjoyed our stay for 4 nights however, we were traveling with a two year old . The hotel although extremely accomodating, is suited for the business traveler. With fax machines and DSL in every room. Mercedes Sedan at your disposal, sharp metro decor and TV strategically placed in the bathrooms the target audience is obvious. The rooms can be on the very small side (Room 1003) and if on business, this should pose no problem (beware though- only queen size beds). Each room is equipped with a sound system, tv and fireplace all controlled from a wall unit that is bedside. The hotel had one of the most exclusive min-bars- with Opus One Wine and vintage scotch to gourmet chocolates and spa-worthy facial creams. We had to unpack only half our items and store our suitcases in storage elsewhere in the hotel. Most rooms also do not have tubs; only showers.

The staff is fantastic; some felt like friends after a few days. The food from the Fed was top notch as well. Only complaint on services provided is that at $400 a night you have to pay for coffee every day ( room service only option- no in-room coffee). The location is ideal- close to the Common, financial district, Fanuel Hall and Newbury for shopping. You really could not complain. The gym was adequate and be sure to go up one more flight of stairs to the sun deck with city views. The deck also offers a nice spot to read and take in some summer sun on comfortable teak lounges and chairs.

And finally, after asking about a tub for our son, they moved us on our last night to room 906. The room was spacious with 5 foot windows on 2 sides of the room and a city view of the Boston Common. With this room, there was a sofa, desk, walk-in closet, bath tub and lots of walking space. All at no extra charge for a room that usually goes for $800+. So if you are looking for a top-notch boutique hotel for your business trip or a sexy getaway and don't require large spaces or price is not a concern, the XV Beacon is the place for you.

Small ...really is beautiful

My sister and I debated long over our booking and as we wanted something really special, we had considered all the top hotels of this fine city. The XV Beacon did not disappoint. This is a fine hotel that looks after its clients. Courteous and unobtrusive service, extremely comfortable and clean rooms and good food. Jonathan the Concierge was most helful amd charming and each time we booked use of the hotel chauffeured car the service was prompt and excellent also. We stayed six nights at the XV Beacon and even got to know the doormen, who were a friendly and couteous bunch of men. It's also in a great location for business or tourists and near to other fine restaurants on Charles street. If you want a huge lobby and loads of extra facilities this mightl not be to your taste but put the big chain hotels to one side and try it - we will go back.....hopefully. Thanks to Matt also who handled my booking on the phone - you were right!

The location of the hotel is perfect. The first room we were given was really tiny and had windows across the top of the wall- kind of weird. So we switched to a bigger room- still rather small but it was so luxuriously decorated and so comfortable it made up for the lack of space. They cram too much furniture into each room though and I pushed a few items into the closet which really helped!.

The hotel would drop us off anywhere we liked in their house Mercedes. The best part of the stay was actually something I will never forget. I was in Boston to visit the cemetery where my Aunt, who had just died, was buried. I asked the concierge the day before about how far the cemetery was and what the neighborhood was like (scary neighborhood). The next day there was a note at our door for me to stop by the concierge desk before we left. when I stopped, there was a huge, gorgeous bouquet of white tulips and peonies waiting for me with a note, " For your Aunt". I couldn't believe it. It was amazingly thoughtful.

Swish luxury on an intimate scale

I took my first visit to Boston last week - in my view possibly the finest city in US. As a change from the big 5-stars I chose XV: it lived up to its reputation with notable personal service (which counts for a lot) and handsome darkwood decor. Elegant, not opulent.
Unfortunately it lacks a proper lounge due to its narrowness. The food was unforgettable - the best beef I've ever had in my life. They kindly upgraded my room to a 'studio' - ie a larger one. Exquisitely appointed with 3 big windows. Room service breakfast was a delightful if costly feast. The standard limo service is pretty unique. They even handed me my papers on departure in their trendy woven XV bag. OK, the total bill for one night's luxury was $700 but what do you expect...

You must experience XV Beacon!

My husband did a Boston getaway weekend and the hotel could not have been more perfect. The service is unparalleled and the rooms are beautiful. If you're looking for a modern hotel that treats you like royalty, this is the place. Take advantage of their complimentary Mercedes Sedan service to take you anywhere in the city. Enjoy the in-room fireplace and jacuzzi tub. And if its a special occasion, be sure to mention it - you might get an upgraded room like we did!

Top Local Tips for Boston

Museums A definite must do is the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. It was absolutely fantastic, but definitely do a tour.....there is so much to see and little explanations throughout, as it is being kept in the spirit of Miss Gardner that everyone has there own opinion of art and shouldn't have to be told what it is. Remember that this is her own personal colleecion.....amazing!!

Private car transfer we used limos to logan for transfer from the hotel to the hyannis port ferry - it was reasonably priced & a nice safe service. the service recommended by the hotel quoted double the price. getting around boston we found on foot the best way to see things & then cabs which because of the dollar/pound exchange were pretty reasonable.
