They Got me with the Cookie!
from A TripAdvisor MemberAll jokes aside, my overall experience at this hotel was great. As mentioned before, the front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location of the hotel was great and conveniently accessible to the good food in Chinatown and to transportation via the T station. The rooms didn't have the lavish decorations that the upscale hotels have, but they were comfortablydecorated, and most importantly, clean. The hotel is also connected to a YMCA with complimentary access to all the entire facility.
With the price that I paid through Priceline of $80 per night, this hotel was much more than what I expected out of the 3 stars that this hotel was rated.
Awesome - Can I move in?
from A TripAdvisor MemberI travel 3 weeks out of any given month and I have stayed at every major hotel chain. This hotel is so far below the Hilton Back Bay in terms of service. I stayed there earlier in the year and to ask them for anything was to bother them. Sure, the rooms were more plush but the front desk and bellman were rude and downright mean and not honest.
They put a huge hold on my credit card without telling me, $250 a night in addition to the room rate which ran my card up so hard, I couldn't book food unless I had it out with them first. I stayed 2 weeks.
Had I know about the Doubletree on Washington, I would have checked out after day 1.
The food here is the BEST reason to say here. Imagine having huge portions of amazing food for reasonable city prices. Everything is fresh and immaculately prepared.
The rooms are not huge but for an elderly couple, business traveler or students, this is perfect. It's a classy upscale hotel with the total package. Flawless even at $200 a night.
Pass over the Hilton and the Sheraton. Stay here. you have the world at your doorstep and Mcdonalds, Dunkin and Au Bon across the street not to mention a CVS and mega shopping and tourism and theater. The parking looks safe and monitorer. There is a valet there watching all the time so I'd park my $40,000 car there without worrying.
Workable soda machines (always fully stocked), free water, free cookies, amazing front desk team that are so friendly. Plan on using room service a lot if you travel on business. The food is not uppetity and all French saucy like the Hilton (everything tasted the same). Safe, safe, safe for women travelers. I felt like I was in a condo in Florida with a doorman. That's exactly what it felt like. It was so quiet and looks pretty without being flashy. I felt like I was at home. Big chocolate chip cookies and milk for $4 before you go to bed and you might as well move in.
Five stars!!!!!!! Nothing bad to say at all. If they could keep the rooms down to 149, I'd live there.
A decent deal, not handicap-friendly
from A TripAdvisor MemberGiven the location, I guess it's a decent deal for the price, if you can get a good discounted rate.
The front desk staff is friendly, but seem indifferent at times as well.
Also, watch out if you have a disability- the main lobby is actually on the second floor, and the small service elevator from street level is frequently out of service. You may have to climb the long, curved stairway to the lobby.
The breakfast buffet is separated from the eating area by a small flight of steps as well- although these stairs are equipped with one of those noisy, clunky wheelchair lifts.
Nice to stay in

from yes2travelIf you're here on business and need to be near the Hyne convention center try to get into the Sheraton, Marriott, Hilton or Fairmont. You'll get a hotel with more ammenities and easier access to restaurants and shops in the evening.
Spent 5 -3 through 5-5 here and for the $$$ I think a business traveler could do better elsewhere. My room was clean and yes the cookie is good, but the room does not have high speed access. You have to use dial up. It does offer public lobby wi-fi (I'm pretty savvy with computers, but Wi-Fi really isn't the major user mode yet.) It's near the theater area, but it is also near a somewhat questionable neighborhood (plenty of girlie shows nearby if that's what you're into). Also ate at the restaurant and was served a salad where most of the leaves were yellow and with spots......Gotta say I wasn't too impressed! I definitely won't be back.
Excellent value
from lingofgood value, convenient location
from PkittensLocated next to a subway station across the street from the New England Medical Center (between Chinatown and Back Bay), its not the most scenic place for a hotel, but it did seem safe. It's not super fancy nor is it bargain basement. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated, and the cookies are quite tasty. Although I didn't have much contact with them, the staff was friendly. It was definitely a good value for the money- especially if you want to be right in the city.

Using the Subway The subway or called the "T" in Boston was very easy to use and get everywhere you need to go to. I would recomend to get a 7 day pass for $15. You can ride the T, bus and I think the ferry for free.
take the T Don't be afraid to use the subway system or public transport! We were never nervous and traveled all hours of the day and night. We got week long passes and it was so affordable and convenient to just jump on whenever and wherever!
We managed great without a car. The taxi service from the airport was well organised and didn't cost very much. Easy to find too. The T transport system was great for getting around and you can get 3 day or 7 day passes. The trolley tours are great for a day's exploring of the city - you can get off at the attractions you wish to visit. Just make sure you start in good time in the morning so you can get to do it all!! We had a coach tour out to the coast of Maine for the day which our hotel organised for us.
