I like the Marriott Long Wharf a lot for all the reasons that others have stated.

I wanted to highlight that the breakfast and late afternoon Hors d'oeuvres served on the top floor in the conceirge lounge are generous and delicious. In addition, the room has a beautiful view overlooking the heart of Boston Harbor and is well attended by waitstaff and a conceirge.

I would guess that it falls into may peoples' "best kept secret" books about Boston hotels.

I travel informally, so I saved a lot of money just eating breakfast and dinner there. If I ever got hungrier, I could walk the two minutes to all of Fanueil Hall/Quincy market food stalls. If you're a Marriott Rewards member, make sure they know and give you access. If you're not part of Marriott Rewards, it may indeed be worth it to pay the premium for Concierge Level depending on your needs.

Close to everything

This was our first trip to Boston. The long wharf was very close to alot of things to do and eat. Across the street there were many shops and eating places. We hopped on a trolley right outside our door to tour Boston. We were there to take in a Red Sox game with our son and he loved Fenway. The subway entrance was right outside our hotel. The rooms were clean and average. Starbucks inside the hotel. Great walking city.

Loved the Marriott

We stayed at the Marriott Long Ward from 10/01/04 to 10/06/04. The hotel is a short taxi ride or ride on public transportation from the airport. The location was perfect for moving up and down the Freedom Trail, visiting Quincy Market, and accessing the T (subway). There are also a number of terrific restaurants close by. The rooms had a beutiful view of the harbor, were very clean, and well appointed as is typical of Marriott. Staff were friendly, courteous, and always willing to help, especially with directions and ideas for sightseeing. The concierge service was adequate but they should have informed us that the fall colors were not anywhere near peak when we booked a tour through them. I would definitely return to this hotel.

The Long Wharf is excellently placed for a visit to Boston. You can get the harbour shuttle boat from Logan airport directly to the hotel for $10. The hotel is next to the departure point for ferries and boat trips; also the aquarium and IMAX theatre. The historic district by Fanuiel hall is 5 minutes walk.
The room we stayed in on the concierege level was a good size, very clean and comfortable with pleasant decor. The staff were polite and helpful. The main entrance and lobby areas were very busy and hectic. The buffet breakfast in the main dining room was varied and tasty - the only slight down being it was so busy in there we had to wait a while to be seated!
Overall I would recommend the Long Wharf and would opt to stay there again.

The Marriot Long Wharf was the best location. We were able to walk across the street to Faniel Hall at a moment's notice. It is a little expensive - the consierge level is great. Service was exceptional and my husband and my daughter were able to eat breakfast every morning before heading out. The had wonderful appetizers and a dessert bar at night. Beautiful view of the Boston Harbor. I would definately recommend staying here.

This was my first trip to Boston, and I loved it! The hotel is in a great location, overlooking the harbor. The T is just outside the front door. Right beside a park with lots of benches on the water. Across the street from Fanuiel Hall and Quincy Market! Very short walk to great food and shops! Although small, the rooms were very comfortable. If you have access to the Concierge Lounge on the 7th floor, you won't be disappointed! Great appetizers and desserts, as well as breakfast! Starbucks is on the ground floor. Very friendly staff, everything is clean and fresh. Would definitely return for my next stay.

Fun Location

We stayed at the Marriott Long Wharf in Boston during my daughter's Spring vacation. We chose the Long Wharf due to it's location and we didn't regret it. We were able to walk to the Acquarium and Quincy Market in minutes. We also took in an excellent italian dinner at a small restuarant in the North End, only a ten minute walk. The price of the room was not cheap, $299 a night for the concierge level. Yet, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The concierge lounge is on the top floor, with windows overlooking the harbour. You can't beat the view. The parking at $36 a night was also pricey. The swimming pool is fairly standard. What sets it apart are the two story windows which overlook the harbour. Overall, we were very pleased with our choice.

I stayed twice there. No choice really, my company books me there. Each time the reservation was made for a King bed. Despite checking-in early -flying in from Europe- there was never a KB room available, amazingly enough, except with inner view. The second time I choosed that, which is horrible for the same rate : you understand why it usually is used for housing the staff (as stated the filled-in breakfast slip left in the drawer). First time was 1/14 : terrible cold outside, and I could not get the room temperature above a mere 65°, which is still better than outside, but not that warm. The bar-restaurant is by no way recommandable. While some of the staff tries to help, some others are just rude and do not care about serving all guests at the same time, once you have fought to get someone to take your order. The food is, well disappointing, even when you are starving. I'll get my company to book me somewhere else next time.

Absolutely the BEST value, location and atmosphere!

We stayed here on Saturday night, February 7th for one night. Upon check-in, I asked the desk clerk is we could possibly get a room with an extra-special view, because it was our 20th wedding anniversary. I only handed him $5.00 (simply as a thank-you and not a bribe, believe me) and he gave us a room on the 5th floor, concierge level with concierge lounge 7th floor access! He definitely did NOT have to do this but he really went the "extra mile" to make sure we felt "special". And, boy, did we EVER!!! Some privileges of the concierge access are (1) a free hors'-dourves hour (with GREAT hors'-dourves) in the concierge lounge (overlooking Boston Harbor), (2) a free dessert hour a little later in the same place with AMAZING deserts also and (3) a free continental breakfast in the morning....same place with VERY good offerings also. It doesn't get any better than this!

The pool was at least 85-88 degrees (perfect for me in the winter) and the Jacuzzi was also WONDERFUL! The pool area is at the end of the hotel overlooking Boston Harbor as well. BEAUTIFUL!! The staff at the spa went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel special also.

Throughout our stay, we encountered only the BEST attitudes, personalities, professionalism and courtesy from EVERY member of the staff (including the previously mentioned housekeeping staff). They were all VERY attentive to our EVERY need and NEVER treated us unkindly. AMAZING!

The location, also as previously stated, was PERFECT. We were going to see Bobby Collins (our favorite comedian) at the Comedy Connection at Fannuel Hall and I was AMAZED that is was literally a 5 minute walk!
And, in the windy cold night, that helped a LOT!

All in all....I can personally say that we LOVED every aspect of this Marriott and STRONGLY recommend it to EVERYONE! We can't say enough good about it. Take our word for it and DO stay there for a PERFECT getaway....with or without the kids!

location, location, location!! Boston Marriott Long Wharf

Arrived at the Boston Marriott for some post-holiday rest and relaxation (4 days) and although the weather was cold and damp there was plenty to do without venturing too far. Enjoyed the IMAX theatre at the aquarium across the street, Fanueil Hall across in the other direction. Ate well at the North End just a short walk away. The hotel was lovely, room was nice although the shower could have been better (weak water pressure). The indoor heated pool/spa were wonderful, locker room and showers were very clean, spacious, offered everything one might need to freshen up (shower was much better in the locker room than our room!!) The buffet breakfast was lovely in the dining room facing the water. What we liked the most at the hotel was the bar/lounge. Very relaxing, nautical atmosphere, friendly bartenders, nice menu. We've stayed at the Marriott Copley Place during previous Boston trips and even visited the hotel during this trip. We were glad to be staying at the Long Wharf where it was less crowded & chaotic. I don't know how it compares in the warmer months, but the first weekend after new years at the Long Wharf was a pleasure.

Top Local Tips for Boston

Great Public Transportation Had heard before heading off to Boston that their public transportation, known as the T, was great and easy to use, and it was! Used to extensively and even used their water taxi from the Navy Yard back to our hotel on Long Wharf.

best deal in transportation There is a very inexpensive ferry boat between the Long Wharf and the Charleston Navy Ship Yard where the U.S.S. Constitution is located. The ferries run evry 15 minutes or so weekday and every 30 minutes weekend. The cost is only $1.70 each way and children are free for this 10 minute ferry ride. Even if you don't want to get off and see the U.S.S. Constitution this is the cheapest and great view of the city from the harbor.

Navigation If you use GPS, your navigation system will take you on a wild ride in the downtonw area. Forget it. Rely on good directions or a map!
