A Great Weekend

Two couples were looking for a niceweekend and found a great inn with the best breakfast a person could dream of. The rooms were clean, quaint and had character. The town and shops terrific and the host and hostess friendly and helpful.
It was a pleasant surprise all the way around.

Had a great weekend in St. Michaels

My wife and I stayed at the Old Brick Inn for the weekend and had a wonderful time.
First off, I have to say what a great town St. Michaels is. I couldn't imagine a better weekend getaway spot. My wife loved the shops and the restaurants and bars are fun. It's a gorgeous town on the eastern shore with a small town feel. You can walk everywhere and everyone there is very friendly.

The rooms and furnishings in the Old Brick Inn are very nice. We made our reservations late so we weren't able to get one of the nicest rooms in the place, but we were very comfortable. I can't think of anything that the owners could have provided that would have made our stay any nicer.

One of the reasons we went was because the owners were hosting a murder mystery weekend. We had such a great time. In all, over 30 people were involved in this interactive dinner party. Each guest was assigned a role and, by mingling with all the other guests, was supposed to try and figure out whodunnit.

The operators were extremely nice and helpful. Both made you feel very welcome and wanted to make sure out stay was enjoyable.
The only thing I didn't love about the stay was the food. The breakfasts were okay, but not great. This is one of the nicer B&B's I've stayed in, but not one of the best breakfasts.
Besides that, everything was wonderful and I would definitely return.

We stay at B&B's whenever we travel, and this was one of the nicest by far.

My wife exercised her option to kidnap me, and we spent a great weekend with some wonderful people at The Old Brick Inn. This happened to be a murder mystery weekend (I didn't do it, I swear) and it only served to make an already spectacular weekend that much better.

The hosts are what make B&B's so special, and these folks are up to the task.

My highest recommendation.

Nice but no bargain

We stayed at The Old Brick Inn for our first anniversary. Our First impression was that it was a cute old Inn but located on the fairly noisy main street. Apparently, the Inn Keepers, Sallie and John, are fairly new, reportedly taking over the duties this past May. We were a bit disappointed when we checked in as John rushed us to our room without giving us a tour or full information regarding the Inn. We had booked the rainforest room which is a very quaint, nicely decorated room. However, it is located on the 2nd floor, above the main street. We had very noisy people above us. We heard what we thought were very loud footsteps as well as things dropping. This continued until 12:00 midnight and started again around 6:00A.M our first night there. When we spoke to Sallie about the problem, she initially told us that it was an old inn and noise was to be expected. She did agree to switch our room on our third night stay (a room was not available sooner). We switched to the French Country room in the adjacent building. What a difference! The room was large, romantic, well furnished and much quietier (though we did hear trucks and construction early in the morning). Breakfast was decent but nothing to write home about. There was always fruit (usually the same fruit and yogurt to choose from) and a main course but we only had pastry (scones) one morning out of our 3. The breakfast room was small considering the number of people staying at the Inn over the weekend so we had to wait, one morning, (a short time) for a table The evening 'Snack' consisted of Oreo cookies in a jar for the first 2 nights, and nothing the third night (we were very disappointed with this). The common room was not inviting at all. As a matter of fact, the common room was also used as a 'housekeepers' room for they were doing ironing/pressing in the room. There was also often trash left around the room. The Innkeepers were nice but not as accommodating as we had hoped for. we wanted to book dinner reservations as well as a sailing trip and when we mentioned this to Sallie, she made some recommendations but never offered to help us with the reservations (In fact, she told us to call and reserve ourselves). We did have very nice massages in the room which the Innkeepers helped us set up. We had a very pleasant time in St. Michaels- there are a lot of great restaurants and things to do but we felt no real attachment to the inn and considering the cost ($200+/night ), it is no bargain!

Thank you so much for this opportunity to comment in regard to The Old Brick Inn in St. Michaels Maryland.

From our first internet exposure to our first bite of Sallie's scones we were thrilled.

Their Inn is lovely, wonderful linens and beautiful rooms. The bed was sinfully comfortable and the only thing to encourage us to get up was the aroma of breakfast. Fresh fruit, scones, yogurts, decadent breakfast casseroles and wonderful breads will satisfy even the heartiest of breakfast eaters!

I forgot about the cookies! John and Sallie Cwik are master cookie bakers. Not enough Jenny Craig in the world to help us get over those amazing cookies!!!!

Wonderful places for dinner and lunch lurk just around the corner. Walking is perfect. You can easily return to your room to rest or delivery your shopping bags from one of the many fun shops that are so close to this
B&B.

You must take the evening cruise with Cap't Wade upon the Rebecca T. Ruark. He is a master storyteller and will keep you enthralled for two hours with stories about the bay and his beloved Rebecca T. Ruark.

We are looking forward to returning...........hope the cookies are warm!

Romantic way to spend an anniversary

The Old Brick Inn was a great first B&B experience and a very romantic way to spend an anniversary. We stayed in the Chesapeake Suite and it was beautiful. The room was very spacious; the furniture was attractive and appropriate for the room. The bathroom was nice, with a jetted double Jacuzzi tub and soft, fluffy towels like you'd have at home. The breakfasts were hot and good, and Sallie and John were gracious hosts. We also had in room massages by staff massage therapist Diona. The massages were a relaxing start to our getaway weekend. They were also reasonably priced and convenient as you didn't even have to leave your room.

A weekend at this Inn is a wonderful way to unwind as you begin a week of vacation. The rooms are well appointed. The sumptuous breakfast buffet has something for any eating style or diet you may or may not be on. The staff were all extremely pleasant and efficient but unobtrusive. It was very apparent everyone loved their job and knew what it entailed. The Inn's central location is wonderful for shopping, accessing restaurants, boat slips, the Mariner's Museum, bicycle rentals and trails, several day spas and much more. We would highly recommend this Inn to anyone!!

Delicious breakfasts and romantic quarters

We absolutely loved our stay at the Old Brick Inn! Quite a romantic little spot tucked away in St. Michael's, Maryland. The inn keepers are charming and very personal. Special care is taken in providing a delicious breakfast each morning-----the best we've tasted! If you're looking for a special place for a great weekend or weekday get-away, this is it! We would highly recommend this B & B and will definitely return. BRAVO!

I have traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada, England and the Caribbean, and whenever possible I stay in B&B’s for their coziness and personal service. I can honestly say that the Old Brick Inn exceeds any place I have ever stayed! As I was leaving, I asked Sallie for a tour of the two buildings and she graciously agreed. The rooms are each individually decorated and luxuriously furnished. The amenities are what you would expect to find only in a five star hotel, hand made soaps, mending and vanity kits, shoe mitts, excellent shampoo and conditioners. My room had a double Jacuzzi tub (The Chesapeake Suite), others had single Jacuzzi’s and regular bathtubs, but even the smallest rooms with just showers were lovely. I loved the exposed brick in some of the rooms and the flower filled patio around the pool is incredibly relaxing. Breakfasts were delicious, the scones are to die for, the herbed baked eggs were my favorite, and my husband really liked the Stuffed Berry French Toast. We have already made reservations to come back again in the Fall, and we can’t wait to get back !

I had a wonderful time while staying at this cozy bed and breakfast with both my mother and future mother-in-law. I had been in St. Michaels before, but had never stayed at this inn. All of us had a wonderful time during our stay. We had comfortable rooms and both had jacuzzi tubs which were great to soak in after a day of shopping and sight-seeing. The breakfast was delicious and then we spent the rest of the morning in the courtyard by the pool relaxing while sipping coffee....it was delightful. The innkeepers were so helpful and delightful to talk to....they made our dinner reservations for us at a local restaurant down the street from the inn. The inn is located right in the heart of town so it was easy to walk to everything.

It was a wonderful time and I would recommend The Old Brick Inn to anyone staying in St. Michaels.

Top Local Tips for St Michaels

Lot's of great food in St Michaels Try 208 Talbot, the wine list is pricy, but there are some good deals. Town Dock is nice, casual and waterside. I am glad we came on a weekend during the winter since so many places are closed, but the good ones are open most of the time.

Town is a lot quieter during the off-season If you like coastal towns in off-season, St. Michaels is a great one. If you want to do a lot of shopping and dining somewhere different every night, you'll want to visit St. Michaels in April and beyond. A number of restaurants and shops are closed through late March.

Throw away the calorie counter! Do not plan to stay on a diet when you visit Saint Michaels! The food and wine is abundant and delicious! Crabs, clams, oysters, fresh fish! Make sure you get to St. Michael's Steak and Crab House...this is not a typical fried fish joint. The locals all hang out there to crack crabs and drink cold concoctions. The Town Dock is also a good choice - a little more formal than The Steak and Crab House, but still casual and comfortable. For a fancier night out - go to Shore at the St. Michaels Harbor Inn. It's lovely with a waterview to die for. The food is quiet delicious, with a new menu each week.
