Was an outstanding experience. Do not eat there because there food prices are way way too high. There are a ton of local eateries near by that are cheap and great food.

a jewel for the eastern shore of maryland. the staff was efficient, friendly, and helpful. we were there for the jazz brunch on easter sunday. delightful room in which to dine and the food was above average. weather did not cooperate to partake in any activities. so this will make us come back. one criticism. the light fare served in michener's library/bar area was below par. pricing was that of a high end menu but the cheese platter and crab dip were possibly the worst we have ever tasted. the martini's and manhattans were reasonably priced and made to perfection. the managment needs to take a look at this menu. also the gift shop was poorly stocked and needed a good straightening up. will go back and hope to find these few small items rectified. we came home relaxed!
Great Time at the Hyatt Cambridge

A friend and I just spent the weekend to the Cambridge Resort (March, 2004). As this site helped me find hotels, I thought I would write to help others. We had a great weekend stay at the hotel. We were greeted by very helpful and friendly valets, desk clerks, etc. At every turn we were asked if we needed anything and every request was granted enthusiastically and with a smile. The spa was an awesome treat. Very tranquil, great facility, helpful staff, etc. The fitness room was very nice, with a very nice view of the river. The room was standard sized, but had a nice bathroom with granite (or granite looking) sink top, ceramic tiles, fluffy towels, etc. The indoor pool area was very pretty. There were also lots of nice quiet spaces throughout the hotel where you could read or just relax. We found the food at the in-house restaurant to be very good, the food was well presented, the service staff was helpful. Of course, as noted in other reviews, the food is expensive but it is a resort hotel and one should not expect bargain prices. Dinner for two with a couple drinks was around $100. The bar had a good duet playing music Friday and Saturday night. We were able to get board games from the front desk. Overall, the hotel exceeded our expectations. I would eagerly return - preferably when the weather is warmer as the outdoor pool and grounds looked beautiful.

Spent Presidents Weekend at property.A beatiful place and great for kids (we have two girls 9 and 12). Spent almost entire time at indoor pool and hot tub. Nice kids game rooms also. Can't wait to go back in summer.Prices for food and beverage are typical DC prices plus 10% - not high like some other reviews.Service is average but I think service will improve as employees "age" at this new prperty.A high reccomend was off site restaurant called Suicide Bridge Restaurant ask for directions at front desk. Can't wait to go back in summer and take our 24 foot Sea Ray to water ski.
Great Family Friendly Resort!

My family just spent Thanksgiving weekend at this resort. We had a wonderful time. The hotel was very busy, but service exceptionally friendly and very efficient nonetheless. Food was very good; expensive, but on par with resorts of this calibre. The Thanksgiving prime rib (also served regularly at one of the restaurants) was superb, so tender and juicy! The Hyatt chef from San Francisco has been brought on board, and in my opinion he's doing a good job with the food. There were many activities to keep our family busy, including gingerbread house decorating, a boat-making activity, hay rides, movies, a magic show, etc. Of course that was because it was Thanksgiving and there were plenty of guests and kids; I guess in more normal times there aren't that many organized activities. Still, there's enough to do for a long weekend. We enjoyed the heated indoor pool, indoor-outdoor hottubs, game room, exercise facility, even a 600 piece puzzle that was put on the table in one of the lounge areas. We're looking forward to coming back in the summer so we can also use the outdoor pool.My only complaint is the balcony, which is almost scary to stand on (and you can't put a chair out to sit on). But never mind, I didn't go to this hotel to sit on a balcony. Better to relax in one of the many lounging areas with sofas in front of a fireplace, or outside enjoying the view of the river.Someone in another review complained about Wal-Mart being across the street. That's a really petty complaint since it's far enough away, and there are golf course, many trees, and a stream separating the resort from the shopping center. And actually it was nice that there is a movie theater right there. So if you want a family-friendly place for a vacation less than two hours away from Washington DC, you should consider this resort.

Hi, This Hyatt was good but nt overly special. We went to celebrate our anniversary but they did noting for us even though it was noted on our reservation and at checkin. Other Hyatts will send something special (chocolate covered strawberries, pastries, champagne, ect) to your room. The room was very nice as well as an oversized bathroom.However, the food service and menus are very limited and overpriced!!!! Eggs with 2 slices of bacon was $13.25!!! The food was nothing special at all and the restaurants were not particularly noteworthy. There is a deli/market but it closed very early and there menu was also very limited. Compared to other Hyatt resorts, this needs better dining choices!! No buffets were offered anywhere.I feel this is morre of a place to attend a convention than vacation. There is nothing much around the hotel and no nice restaurants in the area other than fast food types.
Fantastic Workout Room But Hotel Lacks Convenience

The staff needs to be better informed.The person showing us our room couldn't find it.After several elevator rides,we arrived.The room was nice but after 10pm you could hear music coming from the lounge downstairs.I wasn't really impressed with the service but the hotel itself is quite nice.I loved the workout room! Parking is too far away if you opt not to use valet parking every time.

We picked an upscale resort so we could get away and unwind. After looking around this beautiful property and a friendly check-in it was all down hill. This place has 4-star prices with 2-star service. After receiving the final bill, tou'll wish you had stayed home!

I stay at Hyatts all across the country on business and for pleasure.
Anyone who recommends this Hyatt either has no basis for comparison or is a paid employee.
First, the place looks like a condoplex. The sided look with cheap iron balconies is cheezy and certainly not luxurious. The postcard picture looks ok, but once you get up close, you will realize what I mean.
Second, the pool area is weak. While at most resorts you would expect trees and scenery, this is simply a pool and a bunch of chairs. Worse, their are only a few umbrellas, so unless you want to bake, better go inside.
Third, the golf course staff needs help. Indicative of this whole experience was when we checked in with a 16 year old at the golf shop.
Nobody else anywhere, just this kid. Later when we got backed up on the 8th hole and called for assistance fromt he golf shop, the same kid came out to us and said "do you want me to ask the group in front if you can play through". Yes, you idiot! The layout of the 18th hole where you have people walking up and down the fairway is awful as well.
Hyatt tried to do too much here, offering beautiful views for walkers, but also putting a spectacular 18th in the same place. Someone is going to die from a tee shot.
Fourth, our service was truly pathetic. The front desk was exceedingly slow. The servers around the pool were never around. The waitstaff at the restaurant was incompetent. Maybe isolated incidents, but I doubt it.
Finally, because I can't write anymore, it's pretty bad to be at a resort where you can see a Walmart from your balcony. That should say it all.

I just got back from a romantic weekend away and we visited the Hyatt.
All I can say is WOW!!! I was really surprised. Everything was great, everything from the service to the clean room to the staff to the pool.
You can't find much better anywhere else. We had a king size bed. It was very comfortable and the room was so clean and attractive when we walked in. It was done in an asian/idian decor which was very modern and relaxing. I loved the very large bathroom. I loved having both sea salts for the tub and shower gel for the shower. Even one of those would have been a treat but the rooms have both. Usually I have to bring my own shower gel but they already had it, plus the sea salts. I was in heaven. The pool and exercise areas were outstanding too. If you're looking for a place with a great pool, this is it. This was the reason we picked the Hyatt, it has three pools and they are all great.
We only used the indoor pool though because it's October and too chilly to be outside. The only thing I was disappointed in was the meal prices. Everything was soooo expensive there. The entrees were overpriced, as well as everything else on the menu. You don't get any side dishes with the entrees. They are 4 dollars for each side dish. I think the food could be improved, it's not THAT GOOD for what it costs (with super high prices we expected the food to be better). I would recommend eating at one of the local restaurants in the area and not one of the restaurants in the hotel. Unless you like spending a fortune on food. We looked at all the prices and went to the least expensive one. Which was still too expensive for us. The few things I think the hotel could improve on is... There isn't any plastic laundry bags offered in the rooms. We had alot of wet bathing suits and wet clothes from just coming back from the pool. We had to use the plastic bags that were in the trash cans for our clothes. For the prices for the room that should be included. At least one but two would be nice. If you are planning on going swimming or having wet clothes, I suggest bring your own plastic bags. Also the air in the room was really super dry, We had to wake up all night to keep drinking. It would be nice to have some spring water included in the price of the room since the heater was making the air so dry. Also in the bathroom there are two lights, one for the sink and one for the tub, they are both controlled by the same switch. I felt that the really relaxing bath with the sea salts could have been alot more relaxing if the bathroom wasn't so bright. With both lights on It's too bright to have a nice romantic relaxing bath. I was taking a bath to get sleepy for bed but the brightness of the room was keeping me wide awake. I had to turn off the bathroom light and open the door so the light in the room shone in. But then I was getting cold that way. I would have liked it alot more if there were two seperate light switches or the one in the tub was a heat lamp. That's just a suggestion. Bring your own plastic bags and you'll be in for a surprise too. :-D

This new resort follows the formula recognizable to those who've stayed at other Hyatt resorts. Pleasant but there is a sterile quality to the place and a lack of Eastern Shore context. It seems to be oriented more towards conventions/ groups than families & couples. This focus can leave the few guests on their own feeling a bit stranded in a whirl of group events and noise as people mill about in packs and quiet nooks are hard to come by. Our room was nice, decent sized, water view.
Pillows are oddly uncomfortable, bring your own if you don't like gargantuan stiff feather ones. Bathroom is okay, nothing special. Hyatt used to have decent sundry supplies in there, but now they use this stuff that smells/works like lemon dishwashing detergent so don't forget to bring your own from home. Room fridge is handy for storing your own food supplies, and we made good use of ours. Despite the lovely views of the water they offer few activities besides Golf. If you want a Bay experience like boating or fishing you will have to arrange one through a private vendor. Luckily, if you don't mind a little traveling and leave the resort grounds there is plenty to do and we arranged our own boat trip, hiking, and day trips to nearby areas...But really they could do better and offer more arranged activities as it is a resort! My #1 criticism would be the food.
Laughably overpriced & unforgivably bad in their "upscale" restaurant ( whipped potatoes thick as paste and just as tasteless and burnt fish graced a $100 meal) , merely overpriced & forgettable everywhere else.
Eat almost anywhere outside the resort and get better food at a better price. We had good meals everywhere but the Hyatt, and that is a shame.

Blackwater Wildlife Refuge Worth a trip for those who love nature. Bald eagles, herons, osprey turtles, fish, muskrats, all can be seen at this very natural park.
Cambridge Diner Good food, friendly service and GREAT prices! This diner is just down the street from the hotel and it is a real jewel - don't miss it.
Visit St. Michael's--30 Minutes away Take advantage of the pool and amenities at the hotel during the day as that is clearly the biggest draw to this property, but plan an evening dinner in St. Michael's. There are lots of great restaurants. The town itself is a great place to take a walk before/after dinner. It's an easy 30 minute drive from the hotel. Easton also has quite a few great restaurants. Easton is only about 20 minutes away, but it doesn't offer the water views that you'll have in St. Michael's.
