Great location, not so great service, look elsewherefrom A TripAdvisor Member
We booked the room for a Thanksgiving getaway, so it was sort of understandable that they were understaffed. But it still was disappointing that our luggage wasn't brought to our rooms until 45 minutes after checking in, our restaurant (Windows) reservations were lost for thanksgiving night, so they seated us at the (smoking) lounge area. They plopped us at an empty table where we waited and waited and watched as they set up a table next to us with a table cloth, full dinner service, candles (just like in the restaurant). A group of four people were seated and served. We waited some more. We left and ordered insanely expensive room service, but at least, we got some service!
Otherwise, the hotel itself is alright: the walls are thin, too many kids come screaming and running down the hallways. I sort of wish they had their own wing, because it's hard to get to sleep at 3 am with overstimulated kids playing in the hallway. The front desk was not particularly helpful.
All in all, I'll give this place a pass. Though the location is perfection, the stay was not.
t beat the location!from A TripAdvisor Member
The room view wasn't amazing but this is a city, and while the room was well-sized for a city it was extremely well furnished and looked after, rather refreshing after the last hotel we stayed in.
We didn't eat here but we had cocktails in the lounge, which has a stunning view, an impressive list, great seating and great staff. The cocktails were tasty when they arrived, and were suprisingly reasonably priced!
I've heard criticisms of this hotel and I'm sure there are better ones in the area, but frankly this is excellent and I'd stay there again.

With great restaurants like the Cheesecake Factory and the California Pizza Kitchen just across the street the location of this hotel is very convenient.

Excellent views of the Harbor across the street but still a bit noisy at night due to all of the sirens going by.
Beds were extremely comfortable and the room well decorated and laid out. There is a mall attached to the hotel that has a starbucks for any coffee fanatics. Any dealings we had with the staff were very good. Didn't eat at the hotel as we ate our meals across the street at the harbor. There is a Hard Rock Cafe, California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory plus a few other local joints to eat at. We also went to the baseball game as the Red Sox were in town (staying here at the Renaissance). Stadium is a ten minute walk away from the hotel.
Kids used the pool and enjoyed it. I thought it was a little cool and that they should at least have a heated pool that was regulated at a specific temperature.
Parked the car in valet and if you do so expect to pay $25 for storing it there. Used the hotels high speed internet access. Cost was 9.95 per day but will fulfill the IE junkies out there who don't want to use dial up.
Overall a great location to many events going on around the waterfront. Would definitely stay here again.
So-so hotelfrom A TripAdvisor Member
We just returned from a two night stay during a rainy week. The marble floors and elevators are treacherous...and we saw a few people fall. That is unacceptable. Everyone who works there should be out drying the floors or catching guests. Nothing like a fracture or a lawsuit!
The rooms are large, although housekeeping didnt clean my room one day, and a second call to request a clean-up went unheeded.
The restaurant was fine, with good suggestions from the waiter and attentive service. Prices were a bit steep for the location.
I think there are probably just as many similar accomodations nearby but much less expensive. Check around before you book a room.

Wonderful Place!from A TripAdvisor Member
Loved it!from blanqui
On our way in I decided to call and confirm our reservation as I had not done it, and, only to find that they had given us a king size bed instead of the two queens we had requested. The girl on the phone was very nice and changed it to a parlor room with a sofa bed.
There was a lot of traffic getting to the hotel, we later found out that this was due to the firemen's convention being in town. The following day we were were able to see from our room the firemen's parade with all of the fire engines which went for ever, at the same time it was being televised live.
Our first actual experience with the hotel was the valet attendant and he was the one that told us that
they offer valet parking at a rate of $25.00 per night and you can also park your car in the same garage for $21.00 per night. We chose the $21.00 per night and would do it again. The garage is located underneath the hotel, it has 4 floors and an elevator right into the hotel. Make sure you don't lose your card, you will be charge the max. You can come and go as you please with the card that you get. The fee is guaranteed until 6pm. As we were leaving we noticed that about a block down they had hourly parking at a lesser rate, we would still use the garage that the hotel has.
Checking in was no problem at all, the staff was very nice. Lobby was very nice, big and clean.
Off we went to our room. When we got there the parlor was beautiful, although the sofa did not convert into a bed. We waited for the bell captain to come up with our bags and asked him to check out the sofa, we were right, not a bed. We then called the Concierge and we were given a harbor view room with the two double beds on the 12th floor.
We could not have asked for a better view. You could see the entire harbor, the restaurants and all the comotion that was going on, and the windows do an excellent job of soundproofing. We later found out that they offer continental breakfast, lunch and appetizers for dinner for the guests staying on this floor. We only used them for our breakfast and it was nice. The bathroom had a t.v. for news and cartoon junkies, which I had. The beds were the best ever hotel beds we have stayed in - very cushiony.
My 9 yearl old daughter loved the fact that the Gallery, an upscale shopping center, with five floors was located right in our hotel. They also had a McDonal's, steak place, Sbarro's. How cool was this!
Places to see of course the National Acquarium, which was the reason we went. The Acquarium was beautiful, you felt like you were underneath the ocean. The dolphin show was a lot of fun. In the acquarium there is also a Rain forest which was very nice. We bought our tickets through AAA and got a better deal.
As for restaurants, there are alot of them. We first went to the Hard Rock Cafe, the wait was 30 minutes and my troop was starving so we went to Fuddruckers. I did not care for Fuddruckers, found it dirty. We also went to Phillips a seafood buffet. The price was $25.99 per person and $10.99 for kids under 10, the food was good. They had Johnny Rockets, Hooters, Italian, Mexican. Discovery Channel shop, lots of different kiosks along the way.
Best place we found for kids was the ESPN Zone, you have to be 18 or older or go in with an adult. My 9 year old and my husband had a great time.
We took the water taxi to take us to the different ports, the taxi costs $6.00 per adult and $3.00 for kids under 10. They give you a ticket and stamp your hand. You are free to use the taxi for the entire day until 9pm. You must show ticket and stamped hand once on taxi, you can't have one without the other.
We found the people every where to be very polite, the staff at the different places we went to as well as the tourists.
Next time we would venture and see more. Our first experience in Baltimore, Maryland - Renaissance was great. Thanks Renaissance for a fun time.
