Great place to stay!

We had a fantastic time and your staff, especially Jason behind the front desk, did an exceptional job.

Dont waste your $

We have stayed in the Harbor many times and decided to try a new place because of the location. The location is all this hotel has to offer.
The room had leaks, broken curtains, and was overall very poor! The beds were made with twin sheets. The staff was very unproffesional and could offer no help. You could not get the answer to any questions that were asked and workers were overheard talking about unproffesional matters. A continental breakfast was to come with our package. When we asked they said it would be set up in the Lobby which it never was so we paid 45$ for breakfast and then were given certificates for our breakfast which they then could not return our money. It was one disasater after another. For a city that has so much to offer dont stay at this hotel it will ruin your impression of beautiful Baltimore. It was a waste of money and basically ruined our time there.

Lousy service for a high price

I expected more from a hotel this expensive. I choose this hotel for two reasons, its advertised proximity to the aquarium, and the availability of room service. Both were disappointing. The aquarium is about two blocks away by the time you walk across a footbridge, around the corner to the separate stand to buy a ticket, then back to the aquarium entrance.

There are several nice restaurants on site at the hotel, but getting room service is a hassle. The first time I pressed the "Room Service" button on my phone, the man who answered the phone at the restaurant said "We don't deliver to your room and you can"t bill the meal to your room" . It took another call to the desk to find out that the only way I could have food delivered to my room was to call the restaurant to order it, then give my money to the bellboy and he would deliver it to me. That system rewarded me with cold eggs for breakfast and cold crabcakes for dinner.

Absolutely the worst.

t Do It

We stayed at the Pier 5 Hotel for our 2nd wedding anniversary back in June. We have been to Baltimore more times than I can count and always thought it would be a romantic get away. Boy were we wrong. The registration desk personnel were not very helpful upon check in. Our package inlcuded a free gift, she was unaware of what that may be and told us we would have to check back in the morning. Upon getting to the room one of exterior sliding doors was not only unlocked, but open. We were also disappointed in lack of substantial lighting and inadequate furniture. After returning from dinner and preparing to turn in for night, the couple in room next to us returned as well. I may as well have opened the door and invited them in. The noise between the rooms was terrible. The couple next to us was carrying on normal speaking converstions and it was like they were lying in bed next to me. I called the front desk and the person there took my complaint, told me they could switch me to another room (it was now 1:30am and my wife was sleeping because she did not feel well), which I turned down. They then proceeded to tell me I was not the 1st person to have that type of complaint. I will leave it to your imagination the sounds I heard that night!!! The next morning we spoke with the manager and he informed us he never had anyone register that type of complaint before, but offered to give a complimentry return stay. After consideration we asked to have our stay comped which he eventually agreed to. Why would I want to return to a hotel that I have had a terrible at and not many people seemed concerned with making better??? I agree with other reviewers-- Could get same experience for fraction of $$$.

Noisy and overpriced

We recently stayed at this hotel for a wedding. We thought the price for the room was high, but did not know what we got for the price. Your guests should be told of the ridiculous charge for parking per day at a hotel that is charging throught the nose to stay there. Most guests that are staying for a week-end would like to sleep-in however, that was not possible due to the noise outside. Like a boat that had to announce revelee at 7 am, various construction noises and trucks beeping horns..My husband forgot his razor, when he called down to the desk, he was told they "they ran out" . The towels were too small and old...We are at the age that we go on alot of weekend get-a-ways, I would never recommend this hote. (food adequate at best)

Arrived and hotel had my reservation for the wrong night. Moved me to one of their other hotels, Brookshire Suites. I could have paid a lot less money and stayed at a regular hotel(Comfort Inn, etc..) and received the same experience. Most of the accommodations listed were not provided and if they were it was at an extra cost. Requested non-smoking and was put into a smoking room. The location of the Pier 5 is great, but don't waste your money on this overpriced "Super 6"

at check-in confirmed adjoining rooms (2) were not and front desk staff did not care, did not fix. Rooms were dirty, not ready, and only on-site possibility for breakfast was way too upscale. this was also only am room service. McCormick and Schmitt (on-site)food is great, but disappointing as only source of lunch and dinner room service. This hotel has a great thing going in its location, too bad it can't live up to the possibilities.

Low Service - High Price

from A TripAdvisor Member
The decor of this hotel is very modern and quite unique. When we arrived we wanted to connect to the Internet - connection did not work.
We called the desk to report it, they said it would be fixed. It never was fixed during our entire 2 day stay. Also there was no high speed option easily available.

When we retired I called to ask for more blankets since there were no additional pillows and blankets in the closet. I was told it was too late, housekeeping had already left for the day - it was only 10 pm.

Also there was consturction going on in the area and they started at about 7 AM in the morning. Loud power tools is not my favorite way to wake up.

The towels were very worn and frayed. I found this strange since it appears to be a new hotel.

Anyway for the price we paid everything should have worked and the service should have been much better.

When we checked out, we spoke to the manager and he did not seem at all phased or surprised at our complaints. Now what does that tell you!!

Unbelievably bad

We made our reservations on the "Harbor Magic" website way back in November of 2002. My fiance' is a huge NY Yankee fan (we won't hold that against him!) and we know that Yankee weekend is always extremely busy in Baltimore. Our reservation was for the night of August 16, 2003. So, we made our reservation nine months ahead for a getaway. We were confirmed for a Harbor view, King size bed, with a romance package at $179 per night. I received a confirmation via email.

On the day of August 16, we go into the hotel only to be told that they had no reservation for us. As every hotel room near the stadium and the harbor was full, this was very distressing, to say the least. The clerk at the hotel offered to put us in a hotel 12 miles away and the same rate. I did have the confirmation of my reservation with me and we were irate that we had made our reservation 9 months in advance only to be nonchalantly told that we did not have a reservation and there was no room for us. Fortunately, a manager did come up and after some fumbling around, he did promise that we would have a room. He took our luggage and we left to go have lunch with friends.

We returned about three hours later to find many people standing in line waiting to check in. After about one-half wait, we were able to check in, but at a $249 per night rack rate! The hotel clerk didn't seem to believe us when we explained that we booked nine months ago at $179 per night. The previous hotel clerk had kept our confirmation printout and had lost it, so we no longer had any proof at all of our original reservation. Once again, the same manager, (the only employee, other than the concierge who had any customer service sense at all) agreed that we did, indeed, have a $179 rate. My next question was "do we have a Harbor view king". Well, of course we didn't. We were lucky to get what we got, right?? I then explained that at the time we booked, a City view room was $30 per night less than the Harbor view king. They finally agreed to reduce our rate.

Needless to say, after we got to our room, we found it to be merely okay. The paint was peeling from the walls and it was not plush by any stretch of the imagination. No "heavenly bed", no nice pillows, minimal bathroom amenities. We had to call and ask for everything, including our champagne. Even after asking for it, when we returned from the baseball game, it was still not there. It was delivered after midnight.

I have to say that we had planned a last getaway prior to school starting, etc. and had hoped for a romantic time. Instead it turned out to be very stressful, with both of us upset for most of the day. The bright spot was that we did enjoy the game.

Everything at this hotel was extremely disorganized and the hotel staff (other than the concierge -- she was extremely nice) were rude at best.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially at these prices.

Top Local Tips for Baltimore

Super Shuttle was great - I took the Super Shuttle, and when you book a round-trip in advance, you save a couple of $$. My entire RT from the airport to the Inner Harbor area was only $22, which was less than one cab fare. A great deal for anyone looking to save some money.

dinner in little Italy We went to Chipparellis. The food is excellent, the service excellent and the portion well worth the cost.

Inner Harbor restaurants serve dinner mostly Most of the restaurants in the Inner Harbor area are only open for dinner, at least that was my experience.
