Dirty but good location

I found this hotel quite dirty actually. The staff did tell me that they were remodelling, so that might explain the mess everywhere. The hotel is very old fashioned with a lot of interesting period furniutre, so when the remodelling is complete maybe it will be much nicer & cleaner. I stayed in room 101...probably the worst room as the windows open right out onto the street. and there are generators right outside the door so lots of heat coming from them.
Regarding cleanliness of the room, there were cockroaches in the bathroom, massive ones that both my boyfriend and I were too scared to kill..horrible! tried to change rooms but the hotel was full. My brother and his wife stayed in 201 directly above and their room seemed much nicer and definitley cleaner. As for the location, it was great, right around the corner from burbon street where all the action is. As per tours, swap tour is great, avoid plantation tour. A Great Hotel

I stayed at the Olivier House awhile back and I loved everything about it. It is a really interesting building in a great location within the quarter. The staff was very professional and my room was great. This hotel is almost nothing like many I have stayed at in a lot of good ways. For example: every single room is different and the staff treats you like friends instead of just another person. I would definitely stay here again.
