They are lousy at taking care of problems

For my 75 birthday, my daughter and two granddaughters took me to what use to be my favorite place but no more. One of my granddaughters found $40 on the floor and looking around didn't see anyone looking for anything lost. The girls stayed in the area just in case someone did seem to be looking. About 5 minutes later, one of the women security gaurds came up to my granddaughter and ask if she had foung some money on the floor. She told her yes and before any thing else was said the security guard told her she was a thief.
Needless to say that guard would have gotten a dressing down that she would never forgotten from this grandmother if I had heard about it that night, but it was the next morning when I did and I went to the security people on duty and reported it. Then when I got home, I sent letters to the Hotel manager and the head of security to make them aware of the incident.
Needless to say you would not be reading this if the hotel and security people had seen fit to apologize fo the incident ( the pit boss who was standing near when this happened did apologize for the woman's behavor after she left)they say they go the extra mile for their customers. I don't think so.

Well first the view when we drove up at night was amazing, the building was light up and so pretty. Then we checked in and everyone was so nice and helpful. Then when we entered our room it was breath taking,it was beautiful! and the comps were the best. It was a mother daughter trip and we went for some time away from the boys and we had so much fun! And the bunch was so good,we cannot wait to go back!

Horrible customer service. Do not waste your time or money here. I felt discriminated against and belittled by their security manager. Having roots in Louisiana, I have always defended the state when others say "it's ugly or the people are dumb or ignorant." Now, I know what they mean about the latter. I drove four hours to Lake Charles for a weekend of gambling and relaxation. Sadly, I was unable to enjoy either of the two.

auberge made me feel like a VIP

I stayed at L'auberge in November during the workforce crisis of Lake Charles and after dealing with long lines and exhausted employees at nearly every business place in town I wasn't expecting much in the way of service. I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. Check-in was quick, the room was clean, bed comfortable, and the complimentary teddy bear was a nice touch. I was a little disappointed that the live entertainment in Jack Daniels' bar and Grill didn't include cajun music since one comes to expect a little local culture when visiting Louisiana, but the delicious shrimp platter made up for that. I found it a little confusing getting around for the lack of directional signs, but after finding myself lost on the waterfront walkway while searching for the parking garage I ran into a stewardess supervisor named Cindy who was going in the opposite direction and though she was obviously in a hurry to get somewhere she not only took the time to stop and ask me if she could help me, she walked me to the elevators chatting pleasantly while pointing out some of the resort's features as though I were the most important guest to ever visit. This is the type of service one rarely receives even in a five star hotel. I plan to return to L'auberge du Lac soon and often. - Old Cowboy

Love this place

I love this place! The rooms were great, mine overlooked the pool. The pool was so relaxing, I really loved floating around the lazy river and laying out on the little beds around the pool. The staff was very friendly, the food was very good and even though I didn't leave a winner the casino was alot of fun. I can't wait to go back again.

Treated like a Queen!

After reading previous reviews, I went with no expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised! First of all the staff was awesome, where ever I went. The rooms were spacious with great views (there are coffee makers in the rooms) and the beds and pillows with most comfortable. I usually don’t sleep through the night in hotels; I slept like a baby here. The complimentary “Lucky Bear” was also a sweet gesture. There were several poker tables, just not Texas Hold’em, which I don’t play anyway. They all ranged from $5 - $50 tables. There were plenty of waitress’ to serve you while playing. I went to celebrate my 40th birthday, upon discovering this the hotel comp’ed my room for the whole weekend. And I didn’t even gamble over $500. So they are ranked pretty high in my book. We are planning a trip back with just the girls to take advantage of the spa treatments there.

Beautiful place to stay!

from LBlowers48
My husband and I absolutely loved the huge room and the gorgeous lazy river! The gambling left a little bit to be desired, however. The slots were all very tight and few people were winning. I received a tip from a "seasoned gambler" that the slots pay better on Mondays (but, who knows?). The casino is clean and not very smoky. Skip the buffets, and order room service (very reasonable). All in all, a great place for a nice, romantic, weekend as long as you don't gamble your life away.

Had a great time

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did we have a great time but I actually won a jackpot on a quarter machine. The hotel was very nice, the employees were even nicer and the restuarants were good. My only complaint is they have way too many dollar slot machines and not nearly enough quarter machines. But other than that it is a really great place to go and gamble. Keep in mind that there isn't really anything to do in Lake Charles but the L'Auberge kept me occupied. I also noticed that their free coffee in the casino is Starbucks. Which I really enjoy. If you go I promise it will be a pleasant experience.

Nice hotel, horrible front-desk service

from Virginia
I can't compare this hotel to other casino hotels because this is the first I've stayed in. Casino, although I didn't have time to go in, looked nice. Rooms (we stayed in a standard room) are very elegant - they are comparable with a 3/4 star hotel - beautiful marble shower stall and granite countertop. Nice toiletries. Robe and slippers are a great touch. Our room had a wet bar but no mini-fridge in the cabinet underneath, making it kind of pointless to have the sink in the room.

Pool and lazy river (which was the main attraction for me) was as nice as any large resort-style hotel in Miami or the Caribbean.

Golf course looks nice but not open to the public yet when we went. I don't know anything about comping (foreign concept to me) so we didn't get on it but it looks good.

Can't comment on the restaurants b/c I didn't have time, but I did have coffee at Lattes and that was good. Also had room service for breakfast - food was average, not great and kind of cold, but ok. It is a good price for room service (lower than I expected).

Low points / Drawbacks :
------------------------------
you have to pay to use the on-site gym - VERY strange. I've stayed in all levels of hotels and the only time I've ever heard of paying for a gym is if it's not in the hotel. This gym (which looks very nice) is in the hotel but you have to pay - this was a first for me and a big drawback.

Tried to check out - there were long lines and they do not appear to have auto-checkout/express checkout (where they leave the bill under the door). After about 5 people, I finally got to the first in line only to have the attendant pick up the phone and start talking on the phone to someone. So after about 10 minutes, I turned to the lady next to her and said I'm just trying to check out can you help me because she started talking on the phone. The other lady helped me but told me that customers on hold are considered "next in line" after one guest, standing right in front of them, leaves.

Okay - here's a clue - get a separate line and office for that - don't have front-desk attendants making reservations and other such things when there are 5-6 people in all 4-5 checkin/checkout lines. There was even a lady checking in, at 11, right when check out time is - they couldn't tell her to come back in half an hour?

Bottom line : Front desk is a nightmare, everything else is ok.

I'll probably try to stay there again but I'll ask about express checkout and I will also want to find out about the comping/play cards there.

Beware of pick pockets

from foxjoy
I visited the casino at the end of July and first of August and was pickpocketed in the casino. So was another lady on the same day within a matter of minutes from when I realized my coin purse was gone. When I reported it to security no one even asked my name or address. When I got home I wrote a letter to security and the general manager---no response from either. I never expected to get the money back, but an "I'm sorry" would have been nice

Loved this Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Had reservations at Harrah's in Lake Charles for a couple of nights in August. Upon arrival, we were very disappointed with both the room and the casino. Too much smoke even though we had requested a non-smoking room. That afternoon, we decided to check out the new L'Auberge du Luc. What a difference. This place is great. Very clean and open with easy access to the casino. We quickly found the registeration desk and with excellent service from Nikole, were able to reserve a room for the following day. Not only was our room 100% better than Harrah's, it was also cheaper. The room was very clean and fresh and the bed and pillows were top notch.

The pool area and lazy river was a lot of fun and the restaurants were good. My husband checked out the golf course and wants to come back. We will definitely stay here again.

Great place in Louisiana

from CTPJ
The L'Auberge du Lac is a great place for a weekend trip. Nice rooms. Nice casino. Feels more like a resort than some of the other casino hotels i have stayed at. Pool area was very nice. Casino was very up to date with good selection of table games and slot machines. I would definetly return.

Great time!

from texan1
I had a great time at the L'Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino. We had a fabulous view of the pool from our room. The room was very clean and had a comfortable king size bed. Our dinner buffet was very good. Service in the casino was prompt and efficient. Glen Campbell was a treat to watch. I can't wait to visit again.
