The staff was the friendliest of any hotel we have ever stayed with. Free breakfast and cocktails were well worth the few extra dollars.

Top Local Tips for Lexington

Kentucky Horse Park Tickets to the Kentucky Horse Park were included in my package at this hotel, and I really wanted to go. However, it seems there is MUCH less going on there while they are in the "winter" season (though the rates for entry are the same, and the temperatures in early March were a reasonable 60 degrees!). It might be fun in the spring and fall, but don't waste your time in the off season!

Best Lexingtonian Dinner! Definitely make reservations at the Merrick Inn! It's a real Lexington, KY institution. Atmosphere was awesome, food was delicious, service was great. Highly recommended for a nice dinner experience. It's a little hard to spot; we drove right past and then had to turn around again. It's in a sort of a subdivision of condos/apartments, very hidden from the main road (Tate's Creek Road). Don't miss this wonderful experience.

Four roses The Four Roses Kentucky Bourbon distillery is about 30 min driving from Lexington, in a hidden countryside area. Very small distillery, still working like 100 years ago, nice old lady showing you the place (only small group with 5 person), no mass tourism, you taste the Bourbon directly from the distilling cattle. Four Roses is not very known in USA, but well known in Japan, Germany and France.
