abbey go a little out of your way to at least see the archabbey at St. Meinrad, In. It is an imposing building that llooks like a castle. also see the monastary in Ferninand, In. Sits on top of a hill and you can see it from the street through Ferninand and from a distance on your way to St. Meinrad from Ferninand. also some of the scenes from he movie "a league of their own", starring tom hanks and madonna, were shot in huntingburg just down the road from jasper.

Great German Food When in Jasper do go to the Schnitzelbank restaurant. And don't order fried chicken and mashed potatoes like I saw one couple do. Get the goulash over spatzel or any one of the great German dishes they offer.

Dont stay here unless everywhere else is booked If you leave Holiday world and dont take the freeway, be aware that the speed limit changes from 50-25 mph and the old country cop is more than willling to write tickets in "His" town. Be careful and watch for speed traps. One way in and one way out. If the restaurant is closed when you get there, there is a market behind the hotel.
