The lobby is tatesfully decorated. The front desk staff cheerful, friendly and very helpful. The room I had was spacious, clean and the decor was classy The double beds were quite comfortable room service met my expectations. The bathroom was comfortable and the view from my window was lovely. The dining room was very well laid out and the atmosphere is conducive to fine dining. In conclusion my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if given the opportunity would certainly not stay anywhere else but the Hyatt in Indianapolis. We recommend it to anyone regardless of the age. The hotel caters to all ages.
Hyatt does not know how to treat guests!

After purchasing a New Years Eve package, I was harassed by staff as if I didn't belong. Meal tickets and drink tickets were included. When I arrived to redeem they kept calling the front desk to verify they were mine and not stolen. Apparently 26 year olds don't belong at Hyatt and I looked out of place. The valet didn't want to charge my room without getting ID and verifying it was my room.

Much Improved

from freakofstarbucks
Well, as other reviewers have posted, they were renovating the elevators. Now all of them are finished and I never had to wait more than 10 seconds for an elevator. Keep in mind that this was also during a convention weekend when everything was fully booked. I enjoyed my 9th stay at this Hyatt as I always do.

Good enough

from sneakyshrimp
While we did enjoy our stay at the hotel, I was a bit disappointed by a few things. The first problem we ran into was upon arriving. Apparently the elevators were under repair, so 2 of the 4 were scheduled to be out of order. However as we were trying to get to our room on the 8th floor, we discovered that *none* of the elevators worked. We, along with a number of other guests, were directed to an employee/freight elevator to use. This was a major inconvenience for all involved. In general, I just expected better. I've stayed at cheaper hotels that had softer and more comfortable beds, and had fluffy towels and had more out in the bathroom. The other thing I didn't like was the $24 or so it cost to park. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel itself was beautiful. It was lacking in some of the details though, such as the quality of the bed and towels, and those details were definitely missed.

Good place

As advertised. Very good staff/good service. Cannot be beat for location.

Elevator Hell !!

from CincinnatiSwimMom
Leave plenty early to get to the lobby. The elevators are being "renovated" and one or two (out of four) were out of commission at all times. We waited 10 to 20 minutes every time we were trying to get somewhere for an elevator. I was told by the desk the wait can be as long as 35 minutes when the hotel is fully booked. The hotel has 500 rooms - you do the math. We were there on a weekend and it was full. They direct you to the service elevators as an altenative - nothing like getting out of a smelly freight elevator in a dark service room...The rooms are adequate, but dated. Convenient location and the staff is pleasant. We did not have trouble with the valet parking, but others in our party waited 30 minutes for their car, and this was at 6:30 in the morning. Will look for other accommodations next visit - I don't need the Hyatt points that badly.

Great Location, Good Hotel

from seinenb
My wife and I recently spent a Saturday night at the Hyatt Regency in DT Indianapolis. We were looking for a quick getaway and a hotel in the middle of everything DT Indy has to offer.

The Hyatt was nice. Beautiful Lobby, Nice spacious rooms, Great Beds. The bathroom was just average.

The Location is perfect - smack dab in the middle of downtown. Right next to circle center mall, within blocks of probably 60 good restaurants

The hotels staff was very friendly. Even though we booked online through Hotwire ($72) - we were able to check in very early (11AM vs 3PM) and the front desk clerk asked us what our room preferences were.

My only watchout would be that I think this hotel offers a lot of discounted rooms through priceline and hotwire and stays very busy throughout the weekend. Lots of family's with unsupervised kids playing in the elevators. But it is definintely worth it to take advantage of the good rates ourselves.

Nice but Understaffed

from Ohio-Brown-Eyed-Girl
We stayed at the Hyatt the night of July 30th. When we attempted to checkin at 6:30pm, no rooms were available ("still in process of being cleaned") despite our reservation. We asked the clerk what he could do, and he took a small amount off our bill and said they would call our cell phone when a room became available. We had plans for the evening, so arrived back around 11pm (never received the call). There was one clerk at the front desk and several people waiting for service. We did finally get our room and it was fine.

We didn't have problems with a dirty room as reported by another reviewer, but did notice things like a room service tray sitting in the hall from before 11pm until after 9am the next day. The half-eaten shrimp cocktail wasn't looking too appetizing at that point!

Agree that the elevators are slow but they claim to be working on that.

The plusses: it is a great location and the breakfast buffet which was included with our AAA rate was nice. The rooms were quiet and we had a good view.

No clean rooms and poor service!

from Jill
When we arrived at our small room, it just didn't feel clean. We found dirt in the bathroom and on the cloth on the headboard (GROSS). The worst came when we turned down the bed. The pillow case had a hard black and white stain on it where something had dried on it and obviously not been washed. We requested a new clean room. We looked at 4 rooms before finding a clean one! The rooms all had dirty bathrooms, stained linens, and crumbs along the edges of the rooms and furniture. After a 2 hour ordeal of looking for a room, the hotel put us in adjoining single bed rooms assuring us that a manager had made certain that the rooms were clean. Once again, the bathroom was dirty including some sort of red liquid that had run down the door and never been cleaned. The prize in this room was a large clump of fruit snacks stuck together under the window! I cannot imagine how this was missed if the room was cleaned.

The next problem came when some teens checked in to the room next to us. They were yelling in the hall and slamming their door every few minutes throughout the night. My husband asked them to quiet down and found several teens in the room with no adult. The noise continued after midnight so we called the front desk and were told they would have security keep an eye out. Not sure what the meant. However, we received a 6:oo a.m. wake up call that had not been requested from our rooms. I cannot believe that a hotel would allow wake-up calls to be scheduled from different rooms.

Another problem was that we called to have valet get our stroller out of our van. They asked for our room number and said someone would bring it up. After an hour and a half we called the front desk. They said it was there. When we picked it up we asked why it wasn't brought up. They said the bellman was not allowed to let the valet bring anything up and he was getting off work so he couldn't bring it up! We would have appreciated at least a phone call to let us know.

Do not waste your money on a massage here. The room was very sterile and located next to the exercise equipment. It's not very relaxing to listen to noisy weights and machines, along with people talking.

The elevators were a nightmare! They took forever but are supposed to be under repair to help with this problem. We will certainly not be back to see if they are ever fixed!

Check priceline to get a great rate

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have stayed here several times and have enjoyed our stay each time. We try Priceline and put in a lower price each time we stay. This time we gave $49.00 a shot and they approved it. We did stay on a Tuesday night; I doubt we could get that low rate on a weekend. Maybe next time we will try $39.00, who knows.

I did almost forget about 1 negative issue, the parking, $22.00 a day. I'm sure that's pretty standard for a downtown hotel. It's hard to beat staying in the middle of the city for under a hundred dollars though.

The indoor pool is very nice with plenty of towels. The rooms are clean and contemporary. The mall is actually connected to the hotel. All of the staff members we met were professional and courteous.

We went to the Children's Museum the next day and had a fantastic time. Two girls, 5 and 7. It's around 10 minutes from this hotel. The last time we stayed here we went to the zoo, around 10 minutes as well.

Unprofessional and a total mess

from SteveNYC1979
Let me preface this by saying that I am sure the hotel is fine when there is not a lot of guests there. Clearly the hotel staff was overwhelmed and not able to handle the influx of guests.

The room: was small, but nice view of "downtown" weird wetness to rugs. Don't ask

The hotel itself was connected to a business office and there are some fast food places too. No find dining really, but hey, it's indiana.

There was the 35h Annual Black expo going on, which I was not attending. The whole weekend was filled with the hallways smelling like marijuana. The nights were loud and there was no hotel security to keep the younger guests in check. It was basically, a free for all.

I sent a letter to Hyatt Corporate. The fact that illegal drug use and the free for all loud roaming of the halls at 3 and 4am makes this hotel a place I wish to never return to.

birthday get away

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and i stayed at Hyatt for my birthday. We loved it. Thought it was very clean. The hotel connects to the mall so we didnt have to walk out in the cold. We ate at the Eagles Nest, very romantic but also very expensive. We also ate at the Porch for breakfast. That was very good. Everybody there were very helpful and friendly. The people at front desk called and had carriage come to hotel so we could have a ride. very nice!! We cant wait to come back. I thought the vallet parking was a little high. but overall I have nothing negative to say about our stay there.
