"Filthy Hovel". Ft. Wayne only has 2 Hotels in the Downtown District: The "Clean Hotel"(Hilton-$109) and the "Ghetto Hotel"(Holiday Inn-$85). When the Hilton is full, they regretfully redirect the traveler to the dump down the road. The Holiday Inn will never renovate because they are making a ton of money and are nearly always booked solid..."Why?" you ask: TWO HOTELS ONLY. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Those with any sense of pride were embarressed about the conditions of their work environment. 1st floor is clean and nice looking; Flowers, water fountain, nice breakfast eating area(large for the size of the hotel.) There is a bar area open after 5 PM with a large dining area. This is definately a "Last resort" hotel that you should only stay at if you MUST be downtown, and can't book a room at the Hilton. The Pizza in the Bar was good though. There is no free continental breakfast at either location. Be prepared to bring your own sheets and pillow unless you are man enough to take a waller in their Dirt McGirt style Beds. Thier spokes person should have been ODB. The living area hall ways a covered in filth from what looks like a 4-H pavilion, or from the movie set of Hostel. |
