Top Local Tips for Oak Brook

Do not use public taxi service in Chicago!! We got in a taxi line at the airport and jumped in the first available taxi. The driver spoke very little English and had to get out his directory and map to figure out where the Marriott was that we were trying to get to which was located just on the outskirts of Chicago and has been there for a long time. He drove 80 and 90 miles per hour down the busy freeway darting back and forth across traffiic and cutting other drivers off. He preceded to get lost. When our hotel was finally in sight, he hit a curb, overcorrected and ran a lady off the road. A normal 25-30 minute ride took over an hour and cost $80. On the day we were leaving, we asked the hotel to call a cab to take us to the airport. It took 25 minutes to get there and $40. The river told us that most people have the same experience we did when arriving at the airport. The driver pretends to get lost and then charges at least $80. Call ahead and arrange for a private company cab to pick you up at the airport.

Dining in this area is tremendous Go to the mall across the street -- even if you just walk around.

Complimentary Tea and Coffee With three of us travelling it would be nice to have adequate cups, milk, tea and coffee available in the room. There is only ever enough for two people.
