Wonderful, romantic week

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at Le Meridian for an entire week, which could've been disastrous. Fortunately, it was wonderful. The location is great! We had about a foot of snow the week we were there (early January) yet we had no trouble getting around. The rooms were clean, pretty, and we had a great view. The bathtub is a get-away in itself. The entire staff, from the bellmen, to house-keeping, to the concierge, were absolutely friendly and helpful. After an entire week we felt like we knew everyone and hated to leave. The exercise room had great equipment, and again a nice view. We loved the nearby shopping, Nordstom, The American Girl Store, Pottery Barn, Neiman Marcus, and sooo much more. Great restuarants nearby were ESPNZone, Portillos, Mr.Beef, and we absolutely loved The Signature on the 95th. The only reason I give it a four is because of the uncomfortable pillows. However, the staff did try to accomodate us with different pillows. Thank you Le Meridian for making our trip to Chicago amazing!

Loved this hotel!

We stayed at this hotel for a few days in December, up until Christmas Eve. The hotel is easy to find and parking is conveniently across the road in a multi-story car park which leads directly into a shopping mall. The hotel is then reached by means of a walkway. The hotel itself was very nice - the service was excellent. On checkin we were upgraded to a junior suite on the top floor with fabulous views. We also had a welcome from the manager. The rooms are very clean, extremely well decorate and the room we stayed in was extremely spacious. I particularly loved the bathroom. The hotel was extremely convenient for Michigan Avenue - not too far to carry all the shopping. I would definitely stay here again.

Great Hotel, Great Location

from Skeewee19
We had a great time at this hotel!! The service was great, and the location was even better (one block off michigan). We were two blocks away from the train. I was skeptical of taking the train from the airport but it was SOO easy and so much less expensive ($1.75 versus $25 taxi). We were in walking distance to almost everything that we visited. The hotel was beautiful with a great ambiance. The hotel is also attached to shopping so that was an added bonus. Again, I had a great time and we will definitely stay here again.

Special hotel in Chicago

from BabaKay
We spent the last weekend at the LeMeriden and found it to be a delightful place to experience all that Chicago has to offer. The location is hidden away but accesible to great resturants and shopping. Very clean and stylish rooms with a European flare. The front desk staff was very helpful and everything about the hotel seemed very classy. The bed was the most comfortable I ever ever slept in. We will definately stay at the Le Meriden again and again.

One of the best

from A TripAdvisor Member
What up with all you crybabies? This is one of the most well-run, most beautifully appointed and best run hotels I've stayed at in quite some time (and I've stayed in lots of 'em in the past 1 1/2 yr). When I got to the front desk, the clerk asked if I wanted an upgrade, which would have blown my corporate budget. I was then dreading a 'standard' room -- not to worry! Most NYC apartments are smaller than the bathroom! Frankly, I was tempted to steal towels, the mirrors, the duvet....darn, this place just rocked! It's impossible to drive to, unless you have a savvy Chicago cabby who knows his/her way around, but it is worth the effort. Let's just say, I was thinking of moving in there permanently.

Very nice if you get a good price

from Thad
We got a good rate on this room ($89 for one night, including taxes, through Priceline) and were mostly looking for a good location. It's well-situated downtown and was walking distance to everything we cared about for the weeekend. The hotel is stylish and well-appointed; the room was clean and modern-looking. The bathroom was huge and came pretty-well equipped with separate tub and shower, a full-sized hair dryer (not one of those useless little things mounted on the wall) and the usual soap/shampoo assortment. There was only one robe, which didn't bother us but might bother you.

The hotel has a decent-sized exercise room, and also a bar and a restaurant that we didn't visit. The staff was helpful if a little cold. They let us check in at 10 am Saturday and stored our bags for us after we checked out Sunday, which was great.

One odd thing: the layout of the floors is screwy. You enter from the street in sort of an alley, go up the elevator to the front desk on the fifth floor and then switch to another elevator to the guest room floors. There is also an entrance through an upscale shopping mall next door, but that relies on the world's slowest elevator. The room was clean, but I noticed that someone left a used drinking glass on a table near the elevator bank on my floor and the glass stayed there for at least 5 hours--not the kind of touch you look for in an upper level hotel. Housekeeping was inobtrusive except for one supervisor who kept trying to get into our room during the afternoon while we were taking a nap. Again, not first class.

I can't say this hotel is worth the list price (we were quoted $280), but it's worth what we paid.

A wonderful experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
We were quite unsure what to expect after reading various reviews. It was with some trepidation that we checked in.
We need not have worried. The reception staff were friendly and most professional. Our room was beautiful and spacious as was the bathroom. Even the separate toilet had a telephone.
We enjoyed the Terrace area which has views of skyscrapers and wonderful lights of the city.
The entire experience was fantastic and would be at a loss to find fault with anything. In all, a great time in an awesome city.

rooms very small, personnel rude

from A TripAdvisor Member
When we arrived they had our reservations all mixed up. Sent to one room and it was so small we couldn't move. Asked for another and they reluctantly gave us one. Got to our room, which was to have a lake view, and none of them do, and once again it was very small. The bathroom faucet was broke We will never stay here again. The one good thing was the glass enclosed shower, but no water pressure. I don't know what I expect for $220 a night.

Wow...what a mess

from A TripAdvisor Member
I guess it began when we called from the road for exact directions....got a couple of very rude operators who seriously could not tell us how to get there...struggled with street names....struggled with actual direction...then as if that were not enough....were just plain nasty. Upon arrival we discovered the reservations were completely twisted.....very confusing since we made the reserhvations directly with the hotel 5 weeks prior. We finally got to our room and nothing worked. The mini-bar fridge was glowing like an ember....no remote controls for the televisions...the furniture looked like it had been attacked by a jack-hammer....the best was calling down to the desk to report that the safe wasn't working....after three folks came up to the room in succession over a two hour period...they decided that we didn't know how to enter the code into the safe....even when it failed to work several times right in front of them. They left and said they would return with a new safe....we never saw them again...the safe sat half open and broken the whole four days. The food was very average.....there is so much more but in conclusion, the property has potential...it is just so poorly managed and maintained that its comical.

t go back again

We made a reservacation on hotels. com and stayed there for 3 nights. The hotel recepnionists were snobby and rude, and the first impression was not so great.

The room was small, and our room was near a noisy exercise room and meeting rooms, and it made us wonder it was because our reservation was made on the internet using a discount site.

The good things about this hotel- a comfortable bed and its location. The bathroom was spacious. That's about it.

We mistankely drank a bottle of mineral water in the room thinking it was complimentary and it was not. The bottle of water was five dollars.

Their high-speed internet connection was not free of charge either, which we've read in the guidebook. It was $9.95 per day for the internet access.

Overall, the hotel staff didn't give us a good impression and we will probably stay at a different hotel in Chicago next time.
