My Wife and young Son spent Memorial Day Weekend 2007 at North Shore Lodge. We loved it! It is rustic yet comfortable and we felt right at home. The staff was friendly and helpful. We brought our own boat and moored it right at the end of the dock within site of our cabin #6 and spent much of the weekend fishing and relaxing. It rained that weekend and we were glad to have a warm, cozy cabin to retreat too. We joked around about it reminding us of Camp North Star from the 70's Bill Murray movie "Meatballs". How North Shore lodge is the 'common mans' retreat and how all the 'well to do's' were up in McCall probably eating caviar and sipping champaign under white twinkle lights, while listening to a 4 piece playing classical melodies. Much like the rich kids at Camp Mohawk in "Meatballs". It was a hoot and we left anxiously awaiting another stay. I will say this, though, the food is quite rustic as well. We are a meat and potato's family and certainly not food critics, but unless things have changed in the kitchen at the lodge restaurant, we would suggest brining a lot of your own food.
All in all however, it was a GREAT experience and we are planning on making at least a couple reservations for this summer. If you plan on going up for a stay, watch "Meatballs" first. I think you'll enjoy the comparisons. Or better yet, bring your own portable DVD player like we did and watch it in the cabin if the weather sets in.
