Stay away from the Home Motel! The rooms were circa 1970 and need to be upgraded. No phone in the room. Carpet was dirty. Vanity area needed a deep cleaning. We stayed there 2 nights. No maid service on our second day. No shower. The tub had rust stains. And, best of all, on the morning of our second day, the tub was covered in BUGS! Little flea-like bugs. I told the manager and he send me a gift certificate for my next stay there. HA! Like I would ever stays there again!
Tumbling Waters-inconsistent information from staff

My husband and I stayed at Tumbling Waters the weekend of July 24th. First when I called to make reservations, they let me know that the weekend rate was $69, and weekday rate was $49. They didn't have rooms available on the weekend, so we booked a room for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and was told that each night would cost $49. Then, when I called back to see if they possibly had a cancellation for the weekend, they informed me that Sunday would also be $69 because of the "holiday" weekend (they celebrate Utah's state holiday?) Nice surprise eh? Anyway, the person on the phone told me that if we stayed there, the admission for the hot pots is only $1.00 per day for each of us. OK, good. Well, the next time I called back to obtain the total amount that our cost would stay, I was told that they take $12 off the entire cost to compensate for the cost of the admission to the hot pools. Well, that's not the same as $1.00 per day at all! That ends up being a LOT more than $1.00 per day per person! So the cost of staying there is getting more and more expensive every time I call!! To top it off, we were not sure what we were going to do with our dog at the time, so I called once more to see if they allow dogs. They said no, so we made arrangements for her, but when we got there and to our room, there were at least 3 people that I know of staying there with dogs!!! what the hell? When we paid our bill at the office, which is not connected to the motel, but is in the middle of town, they billed my credit card for full price of the room, and took nothing off to compensation for the admission of the hot pools!!! We were terribly dissapointed with all the inconsistent information given, and their rooms are worth no more than $30 per night with scary, easy to break into door locks. Other than that, we had a pretty good time considering that there is no great place to stay at Lava. Seems like all motels there are run down and cost too much for what they are worth.

The room was large but institutional looking. Cinder block walls with one tiny picture and very very outdated lighting. They did have a gas fireplace that was nice but it was linked to the thermostat, so you could only enjoy it if your room was cold or it would turn off. The WIFI did not work. I called the front desk and asked them to reset their modem to fix the problem and was told there was no problem. I was scared of the shower. Felt I would be worse off by taking a shower. The price was right! The location was perfect. I did like the sound of the river running outside our window. Had a small fridge and a working microwave.
Worst Vacation Thanks to Home Hotel owner

My sister and I, both grown, 9-5 jobs, independant home-owners, and students were treated with disgusting disrespect by the owner and the owners "regulars" our neighboring hotel guests. We were given an 11 o'clock "bed time", and when we were talking past that deadline we were threated with a call to the cops. When we did fall asleep we were continually disrupted by the "regulars" next to us at 130 AM knocking at our door to confront us about how rude and unthoughtful we were of other guests, and again at 7 am with a very angry pound on our paper-thin room-joining doors, just to again remind us of how rude WE were being for talking past 11 pm the previous night.
The following morning we went to ask the owner if we could move to a room where we wouldn't clash with the other guests and we were literally yelled at by the owner, telling us that his regulars are important to him and we need to be curtious. There were no other rooms available for our already paid for the coming night. So we gathered what pillows we could to put between the doors to hopefully muffle some noise that evening. We knew we didn't plan on going to bed at 11 on our vacation. Not that we really were going to plan a party in the un-decorated dull room, however we might make a noise after 11pm and didn't want to have a visit from the police.
We ended up going out that night and actually ran into our "regular" neighbors and they came to confront us yet AGAIN. We had made an effort to get out of the room that night to not disturb them. They told us that they had talked to the owner and they all laughed that we went to "rat" on them. They continued to yell at us in the local bar, then stormed out.
We enjoyed the rest of our evening at the bar, and got back about 130 or 2 and were so worried about making any noise and after getting out of the shower we decided this was rediculous so we packed up our car and left right then. We paid for that night already and though it wasn't much it wasn't worth one penny spent. We waisted money for the second night, as well as any kind of pleasent stay the first night.
This was absolutly the biggest waste of my money. The rooms are cheap, and I guess you get what you pay for. Even if our stay was pleasent the room is not inviting at all. It is painted white cynder blocks for the walls no clock no radio, no pictures, nothing at all, and a joining door that is very very thin, might as well not even be there. I would have gladly spent another $10-$20 a night to have been able to enjoy at least one night of a pleasent nights rest on my vacation.
I just hope the "regulars" are worth it to the owner. Do not go here unless you know the owner if you want fair or even humane treatment.

Home Hotel odd punishment?

We paid $60 for the night at the Home Hotel and Motel. There is a tub, but no shower. There is a refrigerator in the room but makes a loud buzzing sound -- very disruptive to sleep. But, the worst was when the owners turned the room AC off in the middle of the night. It is summer and still hot in the evenings. When we called 3 in the morning, we were told that another room made a complaint about our room so the AC was turned off. Not sure what the complaint was about as we spent literally 20 minutes in the room before falling asleep, and there were still about 10 kids running around in the parking lot. BUT even if someone DID complain mistakenly, shouldn't the owner call the room? Is turning off the room AC some sort of weird small town punishment? When I asked about the complaint in the morning, she came up with another story about faulty wiring. Cant say thats anymore reassuring.
