My friends and I wanted to get away for a birthday retreat for three days and two nights. The hotel website looked nice enough, but we were very disappointed in our visit.

We stayed in the Chalet house, and from the reviews it was nice in 2005, but the place is run down! Pulling up to the house the first thing we noticed was the broken glass at the door which had been taped. The place looked like it had been broken into recently, which for three women travelers, is not a comforting thought.

Entering through the broken screen door, the place had a horrible smell. We were definitely expecting more since we were paying $250 per night. It was disappointment after disappointment: Light bulbs were burned out, the tv remote was broken, the dvd player had no remote at all, the bathroom doorknob fell off upon touching it, the toilet upstairs was constantly running, the floor was horribly creaky, there were no hair dryers, not enough shower toiletries, and no telephone. As for aesthetics, the pink walls and peeling paint were not inviting.

Then we went downstairs... the carpet was torn/removed in some areas and hastily covered with a small rug. There was a bloodstain on the comforter. The creepiest thing of all was the carved out "9-11" and crosses on the wall. We didn't even dare stay downstairs for very long.

When we tried to go to the Office to take care of some problems, they were closed at 7:45 p.m. Upon check out, the woman seemed concerned enough about our complaints, but the Owner was not available. He did call the next day to offer a $50 discount, which does not even come close to making up for the horrible stay.

My family has a reunion in Lava Hot Springs every year and we will steer clear of this place. Please be wary when considering your stay in Lava Hot Springs.

A great drive but bring what you need A nice drive, have enough clothes as facilities for washing are non exsistant, bring in any food items from Pocatello

Don't forget the RiverWalk Cafe One of the best Thai restaurants I've ever enjoyed!

Closed Do not stay in Lava during the week (at least in early June) everything was closed! Most little shops/mini golf/library/family fun center was closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Call ahead and find out what is open!
