Loved every minute

If you wish to have all the conveniences of home and the luxury of a 5 star hotel this is it. We spent 6 great days at the Valley Isle Resort #1004 and we were just blown away by this condo. It is well furnished and the bed was very comfortable. This condo's bedroom also faced the ocean and we were lulled to sleep every night with the sound of the surf. The condo does not have air conditioning but at no time did we feel the need for it. The ocean breezes were a natural air conditioner We went to the super market and bought a pineapple, English muffins, among other things and enjoyed breakfast on the lanai
over looking the ocean. The resort is about 5 miles from Lahaina if you wish to do the tourist thing. Roy's is a very nice restaurant just a block away there is also a bar/pizzeria just across the street. We are already making plans to return to The Valley Isle Resort #1004 next year. If you are wise about your choices for Maui, we may see you there.

Great condo to stay at

Our stay here was excellent. Unit 705 is top-notch and very well appointed and maintained. The building is older but very well tended to. The only downside here is that they are renovating some units - work is done in the daytime though. The location is superb - many units, including this one, have a "right on the water" view.

Kahana is not known for its beaches, although the one outside this complex is perfectly usable and very convenient. However, a 5 minute drive in either direction will take you to really excellent beaches. Food is convenient too - McDonald's, Outback Steakhouse and the superb Roy's Kahana Grill are just a stroll away. There is a Shell gas station virtually across the street, as well as a convenience store and Boss Frog's if you are looking to rent snorkel gear.

All in all, a really great place and easy on the wallet too.

We have stayed at the Valley Isle Resort 9 times over the past 15 years, and each stay has been better than the last. The resort spends a lot of money trying to improve the building and the grounds, and it really shows. We actually think it is nicer than most of the Kaanapali and Kapalua resorts. (But that has been our secret.)

A large number of the owners rent their condos by themselves, and there is this website ------ that has all of the condos listed and a way to deal directly with the owners. It is great! Give it a look and you will be impressed. These people really know how to do it!

Great place to stay - although a few warnings

I just returned from staying in Unit 705. The view from the lanai was gorgeous - overlooking the ocean. Sunsets were beautiful and we loved listening to the ocean waves as we fell asleep. Location is good, but not great. It is about a 20 minute drive into Lahaina - not too bad, but would have been nice to be a little closer. This unit was well-maintained and very clean. No bugs which made us very happy. We appreciated the keyboard, cable TV and wireless internet capabilities.

A few downsides I should mention: really consider if you are OK with no AC. Maui can get hot and humid. The breeze from the lanai is great in most of the unit, but the bedroom is far enough away that it got a bit muggy. Fortunately we were tired enough to fall right asleep, but it was a bit bothersome. Second, this unit has some privacy issues with the bathroom. The toilet and shower/bath are enclosed separate from the bathroom sink. The shower has some frosted glass in front of it, so elsewhere in the unit, you can see the outline of the person showering. Fortunately it was just my husband and myself, but I do like more privacy here! Also, the unit has mirrors all over, emphasizing the shower privacy problem.

Overall happy with our stay, but felt others should be aware of these issues.

Condo 1007

If I were to rate Valley Isle Resort overall, I would give it an Excellent rating. This is our second vacation staying at these condos. Our first visit five years ago was perfect. We stayed in Condo 1007 this time and were not as pleased. We were surprised to have had to share our unit with cockroaches - and not just a few. This condo was not as clean as would be desired. Other than the cleanliness and the roaches - we had a wonderful stay in Maui. The owners of 1007 were not very simpathetic to our experience - so, needless to say, we would not return to condo 1007 - however, we would return to The Valley Isle Resort.

Peaceful, Tranquil, Just Lovely

We stayed in 404 from 4/21-4/30 (we probably saw the last reviewer at the pool). :o)

The condo was very well-equipped, including hundreds of movies and DVDs. We never watched any, we were too busy hanging out on Front Street and at Whaler's Village. The beach in front of Valley Isle is small, but that was ok, it was very private and quiet. The view is awesome and there is nothing like hearing crashing waves when you wake up in the morning. We had our best dinner during our stay right on our lanai, we made steaks that we picked up at Star Market. Yum!

The pool was very nice and we noticed there were no kids there the entire time, which was great, because we left ours at home. At one point, we were disappointed that we hadn't stayed on Ka'anapali Beach where the action is, but realized that would have gotten old quickly. If the flights to and from Maui weren't such a bear, we'd be back in a heartbeat. The weather was just perfect, we didn't miss a/c one bit.

Here's a tip: If you're tired of spending gobs of money going out (it gets VERY expensive), head to Moose McGillicuddy's for Happy Hour from 3-6. You get tap beer, wine and even mixers for just $1.00 (premiums for $2.00). Good pupus, too! How cool is that?

Valley Isle turned out to be just what we were looking for. Now if spring would just arrive in Wisconsin. *sigh*

Awesome Condo

I just got back from staying at the Valley Isle and it was amazing. We stayed in a newly remodeled 2 bedroom/2 bath condo (#408) and it was the most relaxing vacation I've ever had. We had breakfast on the lanai and looked out at the ocean, the view is unbelievable. The main bedroom also had the ocean view. The kitchen was fully equipped and the maid service was great. There were also some beach items too in the condo, towels, mats and umbrella. The owner has a binder for guests to browse with all sorts of information and suggestions. I really liked the quiet location, about ten minutes to Kaanapali and Lahaina where all the action is at. You can also walk to Kahana Gateway where there are some shops and restaurants, including one of my favorites, Roy's. I was a little concered about having no A/C but most of the time the fans and tradewinds kept it cool. The pool there was never busy and was nice to hang out at. I would defintely recommend staying here! I am already planning a trip back. The weather by the way was perfect (last week in April), only one day it got a little hazy.

Just returned from a 7 day trip in #804, the room was excellent and was equipped with everything you could think of. The ocean view from the lanai was fabulous, we watched whales and even a turtle or two every morning. We had rain 5 of the days which was a bit of a bummer, and it seemed to be just over Kahana (a lot of people told us that the weather was unusual) so on the rainy days we headed South to Makena Beach, North to Honolua Bay, drove to Hana, and went to Kanaha near the Kahului airport to watch kiteboarders. The weather was beautiful elsewhere, I guess we just picked the wrong week to stay in Kahana. I would definitely go back to the Valley Isle Resort because we still had a blast!

Unit 1105 is great.

We just returned from a wonderful stay (3/12 - 15/05) at VIR 1105. I can only echo what all the previous commenters have said. The view is incredible (Whales, sunsets, and even kite surfers), the condo is beautiful (and super clean), and the transaction was smooth. I recommend this unit to anyone considering a stay in Kahana, Maui.

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending seven days in the newly remodled condo. it was fantastic. The whales put on a terrific show every day. The snorkling on Maui & Lanai was wonderful. the beauty of Maui County defies description. The facility was immaculate as were the grounds, the staff was friendly. if there was a picture in the dictionary to show paradise, this would be it.

Safeway market For those coming from Ohio/Pennsylvania, your Giant Eagle card is accepted by Safeway for their specials, which can save some bucks.

Maui Tacos and Penne Pasta--Good, inexpensive food! The food at Maui Tacos is fantastic, though the atmosphere is lacking (strip mall, trash cans). The food at Penne Pasta is fantastic, and the atmosphere actually nice! We ate dinner there three times, on the outdoor brick patio surrounded by lovely tropical plants. The inside of the restaurant is nice too, though a little sparse. But the food! Amazingly good (and I lived in Italy for 8 months, so consider myself a fair judge of Italian food). The prices--no entree above $10, and all entrees very satisfying. :)
