Loved the Paki Maui

My husband and I stayed a week in October of 2002, first time to Maui. Paki Maui is very clean, nice rooms for people on a budget. The only problem for me was that there is no a/c in the rooms. I probably wouldn't stay here again for only that reason. I really loved the Paki Maui but couldn't sleep at night with not having a/c. Paki Maui had everything we needed, nice beach, washer/dryer. We had a good time, how could you not in Maui.

We were in Maui in mid July. Beautiful time of year. Upon entering the hotel I was impressed. Nice, clean and the gentleman at the desk was more than helpful. After checking in and getting into our room we noticed that our room was very stuffy, so we opened it up and started turning on lights. Out of all of the lights in the whole place, 3 of them worked. The bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. So in the morning we called up the Maintenace guy, who was very nice and helped us out. The first morning you are there they have a lady who tells you about just about everything you can do and how much it will cost you. That is very informative, and she is very helpful in helping you book things to do. We were there with 12 other family members, so you can imagine it was hard getting us all together but she did. She also recommended restaurants and specials at those restaurants.
The snorkeling is wonderful right out the back of the hotel. We saw everything from eels to reef sharks. We went out twice a day.
Our room was very stuffy all of the time. We were a garden view room and we had no cross wind. Everyone else had Ocean view rooms and they were very nice. The cool ocean breeze all day and night.

The location is perfect. Just a few miles from the Whalers village (a must see) and Lahina (very nice little town with tons to do) my sister in law even got her nose pierced there.
I also recommend Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. It is just fun.
Altogether I would give it a 6 out of 10

Wow, look at all the folks who go on vacation on a tropical island and then complain that they dont have air conditioning and actually have to lay on top of the covers and feel the tradewinds cool them all night. Kinda missin' the point here arent we???
Lissen up here...if you are going to Paki Maui this is what you get...you get a condo set-up built in the '70s....some of the condo owners take better care of their stuff than others, we have been there 3 times and have seen great rooms and not so great rooms. The one time we REALLY didnt like the room, the management quickly upgraded us. If you stay at Paki, always...THATS ALWAYS...get an oceanfront room, its a couple hundred dollars more for the week but you dont get any closer to the ocean without getting wet.
The pool is too small to get excited about, but contrary to some of the other opinions, the snorkleing is great, especially at low tide. Those rocks that some folks were complaining about?...thats called a reef(can you say reef?) Turns out the reefs are where the fish hang out, and seeing the critters is why you are in the ocean instead of the pool. Take a waterproof flashlight and see whats back in some of those dark crevices!!
Paki Maui is a low price, decent place to stay. You wont find the rush of humanity thats in the big resorts...or the price. Its not as fancy as the big resorts, and it doesnt try to be...its just a clean simple condo thats oceanfront on Maui.

Right from the begining, I felt welcome.... I loved the fact that my room didn't have air conditioning. I really wanted to experience the beauty of Maui, so I would have slept on the beach if I could. My room was clean and everything I needed was in a hands reach. It's close to stores and not to far from the beach which was very handy. I loved the stencils on the sliding glass doors... nice touch. The only complaint that I have is that I was in a room that faced the garden and my bedroom was facing the road, so I heard the cars driving by late at night, and people getting in and out of their cars. Other than that, I had a blast! Paki Maui is very beautiful, and I plan on making a return trip next year!

No air conditioning. In order to have a breeze you have to open a window and the back patio door, plus run the ceiling fans on high power. The sounds of car doors slamming and people coming and going in the wee hours of the morning made for long nights of interrupted sleep.
Good thing Maui is a great place to visit...made up for what the resort lacked.

We had a 4th floor 2 bedroom ocean view unit during a 5 night stay. The facility is somewhat dated, but well maintained and very clean. Only irritation was plastic cover over mattress that made sleeping unpleasant. Would recommend removing it as soon as you start stay.
Probably a bit overpriced for what you get, but a nice, quiet, well located condo hotel. Pleasant and helpful staff.

I stayed at a two bed room studio, the room is large, with full kitchen & tools. However, there is not AC, just the ceiling fan, we must open all windows and patio door to get the cool from the ocean. The beach is not good for swimming since it has to many big rocks.

We were pleasantly suprised at just how gorgeous the Paki Maui was. It was just a bit farther down the road from Kaanapali Shores, where we had stayed our last visit to Maui. The entry way/courtyard was GORGEOUS! and the gardens were so beautiful. It was right on the water, and the beach was very pretty. Our room was perfect, and although it said partial ocean view, we could see the ocean quite nicely. The only thing I wasn't that thrilled about was the pool, it was just a small ordinary pool. But we didn't need it much anyways, who needs a pool when you have the ocean? I would also like to recommend a restraunt that we found towards the end of our trip, Aloha Mixed Grill, in Lahaina, right on the beach, and wonderful food , very reasonable!

Great for the value

My wife and I stayed there last May 2003, and had a great room with a great view.. Plan on doing it again this year, hopefully same room.

Not the greatest, but would go back.

My husband and I started our honeymoon in Maui. The room was neat and clean. The carpet was bit shaggy for my taste, but it was a clean bed to sleep in. No A/C, but there was a breeze through the always open window-- doesn't do much to keep out the sound of trucks or people walking by. Supermarket a short walk down the street... buy food and keep in the clean fridge. Plenty of dishes, pots/pans. They were in good shape. Provided soap, sponge and kitchen towels. We had a garden view room from our balcony-- a nice place to have breakfast or an evening snack. We weren't looking for the Hilton, and we didn't get it.
Perhaps other rooms are different. We would go back though. Good location and a good place to sleep at night.

dont stay hear this is the worst ever for us .the service was non existant ,we had to beg for clean towells toilet paper ,and paper towell .plus hidden charges for parking 10 dollars a night what a rip off .and the rules like no playing frissbee or throwing a fooyball basically no fun at all. i say no way never again will i stay at the P A K I on maui
