The Maui Beach Hotel is located near the airport and is not on the NW side of the island where the vacation lodgings are. The hotel, more a motel, is a convenient location to spend the first night on Maui at a bargain rate, because the San Jose flight arrives about 10 PM. The next morning, before proceeding to the NW shore, one can shop in the several large grocery stores and at the mall which is much superior to the Lahaina mall. The hotel is also very near the hospital. Maui beach is clean, the staff, all of them, are friendly and helpful. It is located at the intersection of two fairly heavily traveled streets. The rooms are well insulated from the sound at the front of the building but to sleep in, one should ask for a room on the airport side wing. The rooms are compact, air conditioned, well appointed with refrigerators. Not a place to spend a vacation except on a very tight budget but an excellent place for staging and victualing.
