Historical Traveller Reviews of Waikiki Parc Hotel

Good, not well known

from '
We stayed here in a deluxe OV room. Very nice for the price. The place is clearly not the Halekulani, its sister hotel. However, it's nice and has character for a high-rise hotel. The hotel is clearly more Japanese style. Admittedly, some of the furnishings need to updated. One of the best things is the choice of American buffet breakfast or Japanese breakfast that is included in the price. It's fairly quiet as it sits on a side street away from the heart of Waikiki's action. But it's just a short walk to all the central spots as well. No, there's not a bar, but if you need a drink that badly, maybe you should bring your own booze.

when in Hawaii, go for something better than this!

The Hotel is well located and that is about it when it comes to good things. They dont even have a bar!!! We spent 8 nights there and had 3 days of heavy rain and you can not even get a drink without leaving the premises. Rooms are ok with little balconies which are dangerous experience. According to hotel clerk, we got the best room with the best view, so if that is the best I can only assume how the rest looks. For the price we paid for high season (new year) we still regret we did not spent extra few bucks for a resort like Hillton or Mandarin (the difference was cople hundred, but we booked late and this hotel was only available.) Concierge was quite bitchy when she realised that we are not from US. She did not bother to recommend us a decent restaurant and tried to sell us some ------ show. I wouldn't go there again.

Grrreat!

I loved this palce. We stayed in two different type of rooms and were treated very well on our return. Staff was really nice and went out of their way. We booked an Ocean view and asked about an upgrade. For $20 more we were given a deluxe OV on the top floor. Rooms are a little small but all in all an excellent value. There are packages that include breakfast and parking.

Great Deal in the Big City

from JLM42
This hotel was a great deal (we got the room/car/breakfast package through their Web site). We were pleased with the service and accommodations. The almost entirely glass ocean view front "wall" makes the smallish room seem larger, and gives a great view of the water.
However, bear in mind that you are in a busy city and even a room on the 11th floor (as we had) still gets noise at all hours from a loading dock on the block. All things considered, I can stand the noise for a great price.

ll adore it too...

Our very first visit to Oahu(Hawaii, for that matter) was absolute heaven-thanks in part to our lovely stay at the Parc.Upon check-in, we were surprised with a free upgrade to deluxe oceanview. Our room was just wonderful-exceptionally clean, modern, tropical decor, yummy toiletries, full bath. We loved leaving our balcony sliding doors open each evening when we retired, lulled to sleep by the sounds of the surf below-OH HOW I LONG TO RETURN!!!The hotel staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. We always felt very pampered. And the breakfast buffet each morning! We'd booked a pkg. deal which inclued our rental car and breakfast. Each morning we sat down to a heavenly array of both American and Japanese breakfast treats-LOVED the fresh guava juice!
Service was attentive and friendly-complete with the morning local paper. What a wonderful start to our day!We can't say enough nice things about the Parc-be sure to get the room/car/breakfast pkg. and you'll be all set! Aloha...

Very Nice - Would Recommend

We stayed at the Waikiki Parc Sept. 12-16, 2003 on our 25th wedding anniversary trip. We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was very nice - a little small but plenty large enough for two adults. The ocean view was fabulous and the beach is just a few steps away (you cross the street and go down a lane between the Shearton and Halekulani to get to the beach). The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful and offered valuable information about and directions to nearby destinations. They also arranged a luau for us and helped us secure a rental car. This hotel doesn't have shops or clubs in it so it is a little calmer and quieter than many of the larger hotels in Waikiki - which was a plus for us. We did enjoy a little Waikiki nightlife but enjoyed coming back to the quiter atmosphere of the hotel. There were plenty of restuarants and shops nearby and the Shearton bus terminal (just across the street) is the stop for many excursion buses. Our room rate included breakfast and parking which is very vaulable in expensive Waikiki. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Priced right.

The Waikiki Parc Hotel was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is right in the middle of the action without the big bucks.
The partial ocean view was exactly that. The lanai was just big enough to stand on and if you leaned over the rail you could see the ocean.I would stay there again if I find myself in Honolulu.ajp

Great Value for the location

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Waikiki Parc for two nights earlier this month. I thought the special price quoted by Expedia ($87.21) was an excellent deal compared to the other adjacent hotels. Breakfast was not included but we are not big breakfast eaters. We had to pay extra for parking, $10 per night, but it still was a fabulous deal. The rooms are small as other reviewers have already noted but the location was great. We were blocks from the best shopping (Intl. Market Place and Royal Hawaiian) and the beach so we walked everywhere and avoided the headaches of looking for parking. I would definitely stay there again.

small rooms

from A TripAdvisor Member
encountered difficulty on check-in. Hotel stated reserved room could not accomidate our party of 4 (3 adults and 1 child). Insisted I book a second room and my the same rate as first room of $125 per night. called MyTravel the following morning they addmitted the error and offered to pay for the second room. Faxed receipts today. Anyway the hotel has small rooms with tile over most of the floor, ours had windows facing west and could look out and see the ocean. No true balconies here. 3 star furnishing but not 4 star or luxury as advertised. Hotel cafe small and only those on tours seemed to eat their. Pool is small and shaded half the day. Acess to beach through hotel across street. Parking up to $30 per day. Fancy shopping in area but the high trafific streets are 3-4 blocks east facing the beah and this is where I will stay next time. Access to the the hotel difficult as many tour busses park on the only road avalible to get to the hotel. Others a one-way away from the hotel. No help desk for arranging tours to be found. Rated 3 for hotel and 4 for location.

Top Local Tips for Honolulu

Great location to get out of Wakiki It's so easy to get out of this location. It's hard to find, but once you find it, it will be a piece of cake for you.

Best Breakfast place in Waikiki For a great breakfast you must go to Eggs & Things. It's family owned and the egg and pancake dishes are delicious and very low priced. The omelettes and filled pancakes will rock your world. They open around midnight and stay open until 2 pm. If you go on weekend mornings be prepared to WAIT WAIT WAIT. It will be worth it. You can get in faster if you choose to sit at the counter. Under $5 deals before 9 am and after 1 pm: early morning jetlaggers unite!

Chinatown Dining Chinatown has some amazing dining experiences. Try Indigo, Little Village or the dim sum restaurant across the street from Little Village on the corner of Pauahi and King. YUM! While in Chinatown, don't forget to check out the great shops and galleries.....
