The hotel is within walking distance of downtown Honolulu. It is on a main bus route. it has spectacular views of Waikiki beach. The fact that we have chosen to stay there on our last two visits to Honolulu says something about how good we think it is. Great hotel for the price.

Fantastic Find

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I spent two days at the Raddison Waikiki Prince Kuhio and loved it. We booked a package deal (for less than 200 a night) which included a rental car, breakfast and an ocean view room. We decided to eat dinner in the hotel the first night we arrived and that meal was fantastic, as was the breakfast bar and the room. We were booked on the 27th floor, but arrived early and they said if we would take a room on the 18th floor we could move our stuff in. I was afraid that room might not be as nice, (although I never saw the original room) we we really pleased with the one of the 18th floor. Parking was easy. Everyone was pleasant and more than helpful. We would definately stay there again. We were just a couple of blocks from the beach and the trolley stopped at our hotel ( which we rode for fun). Even though the buses were out of commission while we were there, anyone needed transportation around the beach or Honolulu could easily take the trolley. We loved our stay!

Perfect Honeymoon at the Radisson!

from Lad2005
My new husband and I stayed at the Radisson Prince Kuhio for our Honeymoon from Aug 25th, 2003 to Aug 30th, 2003.We arrived very late at night but were still greated very pleasantly by the night manager. We were upgraded to an ocean front room on the 31st floor because of our honeymoon package. We were so impressed with the room. It was high up so we didn't hear any noise from the street level. We had amazing views of the ocean and Waikiki. Diamond Head was so close we felt like we could touch it!Everyday the room was cleaned very well and all the staff in the hotel were pleasant and friendly. The best part of our stay was the buffet breakfast that was included with our room rate. What a treat it was! Every morning we would make our way down to Trellisses and enjoyed an awesome buffet of eggs, hashbrowns, potatoes... fruits (now, every fruit you can think of... this was the best part) fresh juices... it was amazing. The staff in Trellisses was also super. We had a favourite waitress and my husband and I hope we will visit there again soon just to see her! This hotel is great. Its close to the beach. Its clean. The staff is great. I have no complaints at all.My husband and I came back from our honeymoon and are now planning to go back to the Radisson next year with a bunch of friends. We think its the perfect place to stay in Waikiki and will never stay anywhere else!enjoy your time there! Ladena T

One word to describe this hotel - FANTASTIC !!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just stayed at this hotel and was very impressed. When we checked in at 10am we were upgraded to an ocean view room - the view was fantastic.
The front desk staff, along with all the other staff that we had dealings with were great. The rooms are almost like a 5 star hotel and the whole hotel was very clean. The hotel is not right on the beach, but only a short walk away and is very convient to everything. If I go back to Waikiki I will definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it to everyone.

Great choice

from MamaAli
We've stayed here twice now and would definetely go back again. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we've ever had, lots of choices.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable. One word of caution- DO NOT GET A MASSAGE there, it was worse than horrible.

Recommend the Radisson

Just returned from a 1-week stay. I enjoyed the hotel. My room was very clean and the maids were nice. In fact, all staff at this hotel were very polite. I made reservations at the travel desk for a luau and also asked questions, and the agent was very helpful. The walk to the beach is short. I did park in the garage and was able to easily park on the 8th floor, which was the floor we were on.

What luck!

My daughter and I just returned from a week at the Prince Kuhio, and it was really a wonderful place to be. I think we got very lucky. In researching hotels on this website, I was just about ready to book this hotel specifically, but my cheap instincts sent me to priceline to try and find a deal. I was so happy when this was the hotel we got, because I could tell from reviews that it was one of the better spots to be in Waikiki. As our good fortune would have it, we got an ocean view room without upgrading, just above the tops of the swaying palm trees. Our room was clean and comfortable, the parking was easy..we could park right by the door to our floor, and walk just steps to our room. The day we checked out, our flight wasn't until late in the evening, and this is my favorite thing of all: they gave us a "hospitality room" for one hour later in the day so we could shower & change after a day of snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, so we didn't have to fly all the way home in sandy clothing. We walked through some of the bigger, more expensive hotels nearer the beach, but they seemed just so crowded and noisy. We scheduled a parasailing trip through the activity desk which was a blast too.

Radisson - A Terrific Value!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Spent a week at the Radisson and was extremely impressed. Yes, you can spend more money on a room in Waikiki, but why? The Radisson is top notch, with very clean rooms, friendly staff, great location, and awesome ocean views! Would definitely stay there again.

Loved the Radisson

from A TripAdvisor Member
I just returned from my first trip to Hawaii, and I was very impressed with the hotel. It was convienently located near the beach and shopping. Only a three minute stroll and you were at the beach. The front desk was great, (it only took us about 5 minutes to check-in), and they were always smiling. We upgraded to an ocean view when we arrived, and it was definately worth the extra $$. The view was gorgeous. The cleaning staff was very good (our maid in particular), the elevator, halls and lobby were always spotless. The pool is located on the 10th floor, it was small since it was just a lap pool, however, it was always clean and the outside bar staff was very friendly. And the outside jacuzzi was always in use. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an affordable place to stay in a great location. We plan on returning in the near future.

Great stay!

We stayed at the Radisson this past week and had a great stay! We got a great deal through hotwire.com and stayed in a city view room on the 7th floor. It was a bit noisy and we heard traffic from the street level. I think the next time we stay at this hotel, we would upgrade to an ocean view room. The room was extremely clean and the maid service was excellent. We had the same maid each day of stay and she was attentive to notice when we left each day and cleaned our room so that when we returned in the afternoon to rest, our room was already clean.
The location of the hotel was a big plus -- one block away from the beach. We walked to the beach at least 2 times a day. I highly recommend this hotel!

5 Star Service!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at this hotel the last week in June of 2003. We were pleasantly surprised with the value, location, and cleanliness of this hotel. We were on the 30th floor and had a mountain view room. We got sunrise, pleasant views of the residential area and canal from our room. The extremely helpful bell staff helped us book our attractions and we got the best value from them. The decor is rather dated, but the room was extremely clean. From this hotel you have a very short walk to Waikiki Beach, shops, and restaurants. The breakfast buffet left a bit to be desired and was very pricey. You could definately do better with breakfast elsewhere. We would definately stay here again!

Top Local Tips for Honolulu

The way it really is The beach (Waikiki) is pleasant but not great - I have seen nicer beaches in Australia's Gold Coast, though the services on Waikiki in terms of umbrellas and chairs for hire are better. The hotels almost all have ocean and beach views. The very expensive and famous hotels are not worth the money because there is not a great improvement in the view you can get for $600 vs $300 per night.

Tiki's Excellent food and drinks near the Hilton, Marriott, etc. on the north end of Waikiki.

Ask before you pay If you're into scuba diving, find a tour operator who will take you to a lava tube, or somewhere with lots of aquatic life or whatever it is you want to see. We were disappointed that on our one scuba trip, with the entire island to choose from, we were taken to a spot within strong swimming distance of the south harbour, and only saw hard corals, spending most of our time around the 7 - 10m depth. We were lucky enough to see a large ray and a small shark, as well as a few fish but that was it. What happened to all the dolphins, turtles, wonderful corals and marine life we had read about? Before you sign up for a dive, ask where they are taking you and what are the chances of seeing what you want to see.
