Confused
I am very confused with the negative comments. My wife and I have stayed at the hotel twice now and both times they were very enjoyable experiences. If we wanted the fancy bath products and robes found at the more expensive hotels and wanted to pay the room tax, we would have done so. We were extremely happy with the beach access, the room and the pools. We are returning again in 2008 for a 12 day stay. We would like to note that while the room should be nice, it is not where we spend time other than to sleep.

It's a room
Don't get me wrong. If all you are looking for is a room on Waikiki, then the Hale Koa is for you. I was disappointed by the room. We stayed in room 204, apparently one of the only rooms with a lovely view of the side of the roof to the lobby. There was exactly one outlet for use (that was not in the bathroom) and the tangle of cords plugged into the outlet behind the dresser was disturbing. The outlet in the bathroom kept tripping the GFI circuit. The room decor looked as if it had not been updated in many years (especially the bathroom) although it was clean. Our A/C did not do much; we had a fan brought to the room. Apparently, we were also on the only floor without an ice maker or laundry facility. The laundry facility we used on the 5th floor was about 120 degrees. Oh, did I forget to mention the enormous rat that was seen attempting to make its way through the revolving door in the lobby? Like I said, if you're looking for a clean, affordable room on the beach...go for...Read more

Good Value
The grounds and the location are unbeatable. You wonĄŻt find any other ocean front hotel with a private beach and open grounds, most others are crammed between the neighboring hotels and have about 10 feet of beach at high tide. We very much enjoyed our vacation; the rooms are average to above average...nothing spectacular. A larger refrigerator would be at the top of the list for things to add, they have a small "icebox" which doesnĄŻt keep things very cold and is fairly small. The amenities within the hotel make everything very convenient the only problem we had was with a extremely incompetent assistant manager of the restaurant (Bibas) named Tracey. Luckily the Assistant hotel manager (Diane) was very professional and very much helped us forget the horrible service we received one evening. All in all if your military and have the luxury of staying at the Hale Koa you wonĄŻt find a better hotel for the price.

Awseome
The Hale Koa was a great adventurous place to stay. The pool and clear glass elevator was awesome. I liked being on the beach too with the beach rentals. It was truly fun.

Hale Koa best is Waikiki
Fantastic Hotel!! The Hale Koa commands the best part of Waikiki, with matching accommodations, and activities. Accommodations, Shows, Restaurants and Staff are First Class. Be careful, once you experience the Hale Koa and after you compare you will be back for more.
