Take a Ghost Tour! Savannah is sometimes considered the "most haunted city in America." Whether you think so or not, the haunted tours are an excellent, colorful way to see some fascinating places and learn some amazing history of this wonderful old city.
Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum This is a wonderful museum nearby Savannah. It celebrates the actvity of this air group during World War II but it's main value is that it explains the sequence of events that lead up to the U.S. involvement in World War II. It explains how we were very isolationist prior to the war and how we eventually had to get involved. There are videos, exhibits and many pictures showing life in 1940's. This is a wonderful place to bring teens who may be studying US History as it really brings this era to life. It is of great value to have a guide take you around as many are veterans of that era and can tell you things from their life. I was very surprised as to how much I enjoyed visiting this museum. Canadian Currency Travellers cheques I took American Express Travellers cheques in Canadian currency and found huge problems in cashing and using them. In fact, I never did use them and I was told at three different banks in the historic district that even if I had them in US currency, they would not cash them for me because I did not have an account at their bank. One even went so far as to blame Homeland Security, ha! I also found it difficult to find a bank machine that was a PLUS machine so that I could get some money. I finally did find one but this whole thing wasted alot of my time that I could have used sightseeing instead of stressing about getting money.
