Good location, shame about the air con

from Mufty
We had stayed at a Sheraton hotel in the past, and had been very pleased, so we felt confident about making our reservation. The hotel is in a great location for the airport and interstate highways, which is what we needed after our very lengthy flight.

The view of the airport from our room was great, so if you're a plane spotter, you'll have fun. Our only concern was aircraft noise, but there was none to be heard indoors - good double glazing. However, the hotel's air conditioning was very noisy. Even when we turned off the air con to our own room, we could hear the drone of everyone else's, which disturbed our sleep. When we returned to the hotel for a short visit, two weeks later, we mentioned the noise to the desk clerk and either by coincidence or design we were given a room where the drone of the air con wasn't as noticeable.

All members of staff whom we met were very friendly and helpful.

The beds were extremely comfortable and the housekeeping was faultless.

The restaurant menu didn't have a great variety, but the standard of decor, food and service was excellent. "Ruby Tuesday" is a short walk away, across the road, if you want a dining alternative.

Nice (but Noisy) Airport Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was close to giving this hotel an "above average" rating but it's just too noisy. The lobby and rooms are very nice and the hotel is very convenient to the airport. The problem though is that the doors and walls are paper thin. Nothing like having a clock radio blasting through the adjoining room door at 6:00 a.m. and then listening to traveller's room doors slamming all morning as they head off to the airport.

Great hotel!

from NashvilleReunion
We stayed on our way to Las Vegas. Comfortable room, great bed and pillows. The service was superb. We walked across the street for dinner. While we were out it started raining. They sent a shuttle to pick us up and take us back to the hotel. They let us leave our car in the parking lot and shuttled us to the airport and back.

A Good Airport Hotel

from Tackle
Large quiet room very convenient to the airport, with a free airport shuttle. There were a few shabby furnishings in the lobby and the exercise room could use some dumbells, but the room itself was nicely furnished. The Heavenly Bed was very comfortable. The staff was polite, efficient, and personable. A good business travelers hotel.

Comfortable and convenient

from A TripAdvisor Member
stayed one night, 03/11/05 for airport connection next day, arrived late night, left early morning, shuttle service was very helpful and punctual both way to and from hotel. the room had all necessary amenities and the bed/bedding was a nice feature, very noticeable difference from run of mill hotel rooms. in room coffee service with glass cups for while in the room and disposable cups/lids to also take a cup to go. arrived shortly before midnight and food/bar service in lounge was closing, could use some later hours for late arrivals. front desk service for checking in was quick and accomodating. would highly recommend stay for convenience and comfort.

Great Place to Stay!

from JeffandLeah2004
My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Gateway on our wedding night before we headed to Jamaica the next day. We stayed in an executive suit. It was very nice and roomy. The bed was the most comfartable bed I have ever slept on in a hotel. The pillows were nice and fluffy and sheets were very clean. The hotel shuttled us to the airport and back free of charge. We got a parking pass from the front desk and left our car at the hotel all week while we were gone free or charge. As for as I know nothing was bothered on the car either. The only bad thing I can say about the place is, there is a stocked bar in the room, but it is outrageously expensive to buy anything. Even a coke is over $2.00. All in all it is a great place, and I would stay there again for more than one night.

was not impressed

from A TripAdvisor Member
Staff was nice and the lobby looked luxurious. Rooms were ok, but a bit old fashioned and bathroom was small. I expect free internet in a $90 hotel (as I experienced in cheaper hotels), but there you pay 10 dollars to use internet in the room per day. For 800- and local calls you pay as well. Fitness center is ok, indoor swimming pool is convenient but I felt it was not so clean there. People jumped in without taking a shower before and floor was a bit dirty. Was not too impressed by this hotel...

Not a bad place

from metalliam
I stayed in this place for one night en route to Oklahoma back in 2002, and it was a very nice hotel. Rooms were clean, cable access was good.

Staff were as helpful as they cold be trying to find out the international dialling code for England, so I could tell parents about travel plans being messed up, eventually got through.

Found out when i'd got home that they'd charged $40 for calls made from my room, which definitely wasn't right as I only made one call to Oklahoma, and couldn't figure out how to dial home, when this was done it was from the lobby downstairs. The management refunded the costs, which was good.

I wouldn't know about access to Atlanta itself, but there is another review with this information.

Good, but not great

from lida.15
I stayed at the Sheraton from July 10 to July 12, 2004. I picked this hotel mostly because it was close to the airport and was reasonably priced. When I arrived, I was surprised at how hot the hallways & elevators were. Seems they had not turned on the air there.
Service seemed to be lacking - the hotel was busy with family reunions so it was fully booked, but there did not seem to be a lot of staff around.
After I came back home, I wrote a letter to Starwood and got a nice response from the hotel manager apologizing that things were not satisfactory - plus some bonus starwood points I can use in any Westin / Sheraton hotel I choose - this was a nice touch.
I should say that the rooms were clean, with nice decor (although the bathrooms are terribly small). If you're looking for a hotel close to the airport that is clean and more upscale but not super luxurious, then this is a good choice. However, if you are planning to stay a few days and want to check out the city, this is too far and too removed - choose something in Buckhead instead.

Nice Airport Hotel

from Dolly123
A nice airport hotel. I have been stranded at the Atlanta airport several times; this is by far the nicest airport hotel I've stayed in. Check in: quick, efficient and friendly. Rooms: large and clean. Bathroom: adequate size; good water pressure; hot water. Fitness Center: good size; several pieces of cardio equipment and natilus machines. Starbucks coffee stand in the lobby (yeah!). Shuttle bus: free; runs every 20 min both ways. A very pleasant experience. The hotel's only downfall - the hallways were a bit run-down and dirty.

The Underground I was very disappointed in the Underground. It is very much catered to the Urban Hip Hop crowd. I thought it would be nice restaurants and nice shops but it was just alot of tacky bling-bling. People who worked in the stores where not very friendly.

Rental cars Use the shuttle to the airport hotels and pick up your car from the hotel - Atlanta is a sprawling mass
