Top Local Tips for Brunswick

I would not recommend Spanky's We tried this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews because it sounded like a good, local place. We went to the Marshside location. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for a table in a raucus bar scene where there were no seats and conversation was impossible. Service was slow and sporadic. We wanted to eat local seafood, especially Georgia shrimp, the virtues of which were proclaimed on an enormous billboard not far from the front door of this restaurant. The food was very disappointing. Perfectly good hush puppy recipe adulterated with chopped jalapenos, soggy oily oysters, shrimp that tasted strongly of iodine. We also discovered that this restaurant is a regional chain with a number of locations, the original in Savannah. We will not go back to this particular location, probably not to anywhere in the chain as a matter of fact.

Hidden Gem Just 8 minutes away is St SImons Island, Sea Island and 20 minutes to Jekyl Island. So beautiful, I cannot believe I had not heard of these areas.

Ice Cream Brusters is just down the street. Best ice cream ever.
