Nothing to brag about!

The hotel has a good reputation but doesn't live up to it!
I paid 495.00 a night for 2 nights. You would figure for that kind of money you would get a pretty nice room right? Wrong! Small, cramped and if you even look at the mini bar they charge you for stuff you didn't use. The hotels only saving grace is it's location next to the Lenox Mall which is really nice. The complementary Cadallic Escalade will take you anywhere you want within 3 miles of the hotel but the hotel will cost you far too much for too little. My advice checkout the cheaper hotels in the area because your room will look about the same minus the expensive minibar!

surprised by reception attitude

from The_Patient_English
I arrived about 10pm gave my name and the receptionist said “Yes sir, we have you down for a king size non smoking. Is that correct?”
All very confidence inspiring. He then sent me up to a room that smelled of smoke and had two ashtrays in it. When I returned to reception to explain there’d been a mistake he angrily replied “Well the hotel’s very full tonight.”
This response astonished me. I stay in hotels about two nights a week. I conduct and observe focus groups which usually happen in the evenings so I often check in late and get the ‘problem’ room and the sleepy night staff but I usually get at least a cursory “I’m sorry sir”, before they explain the overbooking problem. Significantly the two other receptionists immediately made themselves scarce. In my experience this is the acid test of a hotel’s service culture. Good hotel staff when they realise they have made a mistake try to sort the problem. Great hotel staff even relish the challenge. Poor hotels (including most ‘hip’ hotels which this one aspires to be) try to avoid dealing with it.
After lots of angry typing the guy then found me another room and said if I didn’t like that one either (excuse me?) there was nothing else he could do. It was a perfectly good room so he didn’t need to panic. The bed was nice and snuggly, location excellent, and the fitness centre was good but I'd be wary of returning.

The bed was the best I ever see in an hotel ever.

Above Starwood Standards

A true Westin expereince. This Westin was excellent in its location, service and value. We paid $209/night for three rooms at the last minute. They treat their Starwood clients with care and detail.

It always entertains me to see those "unfrequent" travelers nit picking about every detail. (see review before mine) They expect hotels to lick their toes if they are spending over $150/night.

I highly reccomend the Westin Buckhead.

We had some serious problems here.

from hollinsgirl
I was really hopeful, given the other reviews on TripAdvisor. However, we had 4 incidents happen:

1. When we checked in, we were put in a smoking room instead of a nonsmoking, as we had requested. It took 20 minutes for them to switch our rooms.

2. I had called the concierge several months ahead and asked them to make manicure and pedicure appointments for us at a spa nearby. The information was in their system when we checked in, but the appointments were never made. Result: no one could accomodate us, so we didn't get the manis/pedis. (Hey, this was supposed to be a "girls' weekend!"

3. I had a raging headache and the hotel staff directed my friend to walk to a Publix five blocks away to get me Advil. We subsequently discovered there was Advil in the gift shop.

4. The toilet never worked quite right in our room and the toilet paper holder was missing its bar.

All of this combined was very disappointing to say the least. When my friend spoke to the manager the next morning, though, all of our room charges were comped and we were given 10,000 Starwood points. Still, I never would have expected this from this hotel. Be warned!

Top Notch Service at Westin

from Tampa_Law_Guy
I recently stayed two nights at the Westin Buckhead and I cannot say how pleased I was with my stay there. First off, the hotel used to be the Swissotel and was taken over by Starwood and converted into a Westin. I had previously stayed at the Swissotel and would not have been surprised if they took the Swissotel and just changed the name without renovating a single thing. Instead, clearly Starwood spent some time and money improving an already good product and turning it into something wonderful.

The lobby is very airy and open and is decorated exquisitely. Check-in was an absolute breeze and the desk agent was probably one of the friendliest and most helpful people I have encountered at a hotel. As I am a Starwood Gold Preferred Guest, I was upgraded to a corner king-bedded room on the 20th floor, Room 2005. The room was spacious and was tastefully deocrated in soothing earth tones. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows. The seating area was surrounded by windows that gave a beautiful panoramic view of the Atlanta skyline, especially nice in the evenings with the buildings lit. The bathroom had a separate tub and shower. The toiletries were Aveda and were replenished daily.

The housekeeping staff was attentive and thorough. Room service was prompt and the food was pretty good as hotels go. The Palm Restaurant is in the lobby and I would recommend that for all who love steak and have not yet been to one of their locations throughout the US.

The valet staff was excellent. I called down for my car several times over the course of my two-day stay and by the time I made it down the elevator to the motor lobby, my car was already there waiting for me. All the valet staff was extremely friendly, helpful and always asked me if I needed directions to wherever I was going.

The hotel is located adjacent to Lenox and Phipps Malls and just a few blocks from the MARTA Buckhead stop on the North line.

I would highly recommend the Westin Buckhead. They far exceeded my expectations and I will definitely return in the future.

Really loved it

from PeterOregon
This is a great hotel. It has an excellent location that is close to fine shopping, some outstanding restaurants, and the Marta train to downtown. The hotel staff is friendly and quite helpful. A hotel car will take you anywhere within two miles. Our room was very nice: elegant decor, many amenities, pillow-top mattress, ample room, good view, great shower and bathroom. The only negatives: it charges for phone calls, including $2 for an 800 number; and way too much for use of an in-room internet connection, which should be free these days.

It really was heavenly!

The only bad thing I can say about this hotel is that make it too nice! The bed was so comfortable we couldn't get out of it and go enjoy the city. I almost booked a later flight so I could stay in my room until 4pm! The staff was incredible and the club level was so worth paying the money for! I only bought one meal the entire weekend because the club level served food 3 times a day and alcohol from 5--10 everyday! This place was awesome...I'm going to try the one downtown next time just to see how it compares.

I had stayed at Westin hotels before, so I knew about the heavenly beds. This was my first experience with the heavenly bath, and it was wonderful. We only stayed one(Saturday) night, and had reservations at a popular Brazilian restaurant, but our courtesy driver, Kevin, suggested a better Brazilian restaurant for the same price, Boi Na Braza. We took his advice and had an amazing meal with no waiting even though we did not have reservations and it was the weekend. Lenox Square is right across the street from the hotel. The staff took good care of us, and we left to catch a Brave's game the next day totally satisfied.

Great hotel, comfortable beds, near an upscale mall.

from Bigdawg
The lobby isn't anything to write home about, but the rooms, beds, employees are great. Very comfortable rooms and quiet air-conditioners which you'll need in Atlanta. There is an upscale mall about a 30 second walk away, too. And the hotel is pretty centrally located for accessing restaurants and other activities at night.

great staff, facilities and location

from 2Jax
I had an opportunity to stay at the Westin Hotel in Atlanta for a conference. I had stayed there previously when it was a different name. The staff could not have been more courteous and helpful from the time I got there until I left. Everyone that worked there was cheerful and happy to assist. I was highly impressed with staff. The place was nicely decorated and functional. For those looking for a good night sleep the beds and linens were exceptional. It was very quiet and comfortable at night. The location cannot be beat. You are right there at Lennox mall and around the corner from the best nightlife and restaurants in Atlanta. Another amenity that is helpful is the free car service they provide in a two mile area around the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised and will certainly go back there the next time I am in Atlanta. I have stayed at the Ritz Carlton Buckhead and this was just as nice if not a little better.

Top Local Tips for Atlanta

Take the train everywhere! Traffic is insane!! The Aquarium was AWESOME! The best ever! Go, at least once in your life! Excellent dining everywhere!

Six Flags Over Ga Flash pass, unbelievably great!

watch out for the in-room fridge Indeed, these are space age technology and ridiculous!! I opened the in room fridge which has the 20-second rule, lift and replace within 20 secs or get charged. The fridge was totally full, so seeing that I couldn't put my own drinks in there, I carefully closed the door. On the express bill: refreshments in room x2 (@$3.50).
