Historical Traveller Reviews of The Westin Atlanta North at Perimeter Hotel

from zhangpianist
the beds were ok, but the lobby was so depressing, the rooms were tiny, the bathrooms were filthy with rusts everywhere, and the doors would just not close. I would NEVER return to this place again.

Not a 4 star hotel!

from steptex
The staff was great very professional but the room was not 4 stars. The picture that you see on the internet is exactly the size of the room it was very small for the price $119 per night. The bed was not all that heavenly I've slept in better. The bathroom looked like an old hotel with new paint and I have never seen such a small tub in my life not even in an apartment. I would give this hotel 3 stars and that is for the staff. Did Westin take over this hotel from another chain because the Westin standards that I heard of I did not see.

Overall, quite nice stay

from angelabbf
I stayed at this hotel for a business meeting nearby. The bed was nice, room was clean and the staff was friendly. The workout area is really nice with individual TVs at the equipment. I found it was rarely busy. I was a bit disappointed with the menu selections for room service since they had almost no Vegetarian options - or I should say - "creative" vegetarian options. The ones they had weren't too appetizing. The quality of the food, however, was nice. But, I do realize that this probably doesn't pertain to everyone. There was one thing that bothered me a lot - the water/bathroom smelled. The local area had had a water problem the day I arrived and told me bathing was safe, but not to drink it. I don't know if the smell was a result of that or if it was the Hotel. I'd probably stay here again, though.

t pay more than $225

I stayed at the Westin for business the week of Nov 6th. Here is a record of my experience:
- Checked in at 10;00 p.m. from a long flight and the front desk person was talking on the phone while checking me in. I asked for a quiet room. I also noted that on my e-paperwork when I reserved my room on their website.
- Got to my room. It was across from the ice machine, the service closet and next to the elevators. Literally was the worst room on the floor.
- Went back to the front desk - she is still on the phone. I ask for another room that is quiet - she says there may not be any others available. I ask for a corner room and she then locates one!
- This room is nice; though it does have a connecting door and i can hear the guy next to me making very very strange snorting.coughing noises. I stuff towels under the door and it helps. I am off the the bar for some food and drink.
- Bartender in lobby bar is wonderful and accomodating as I am a vegerarian, it is late, and the kitchen wants to close. My Salad is nice and my wine is cold.
- The view of the 'lake' is not really a view of water, as stated in their marketing communications. The view is of a sliver of a manmade pool/pond. The view is really of the building next door. It is an office building and lit up like a xmas tree all day and night.
- The view of the parking lot - which I have from my room, is nice because there are alot of trees.
- The bed was - as expected - heavenly. The bathrooms are old but not too bad - there was brown mold in the grout but i see that in most hotels unless they are 5 star.
- Someome tried to enter my room one morning but I had it double locked. It woke me up in a fright. They actaully opened it enough to almost pop that second security lock thing off. I think it was the maid cus I looked out a minute later and no one was there.
- THe gym is pretty nice - and I saw a few people running outside around the property. This is an 'industial' area and is not really nice to walk around outside. There are may freeways zooming by outside the hotel.
- I paid a discounted rate for busines. I would not pay more than $225 unless you must or your company does not have strict budgets.
- The restuarant was expensive - really high - and was not a cozy place as you are sitting by the glass walls overlooking the fake lake and towering office building.

OK, but not the best Westin in which I have stayed

from gvldiva
The best thing I can say about this hotel is the beds are truly heavenly beds. That is a consistent with all Westins in which I have stayed.

The staff was very nice all the way around.

For me the rooms were dull. We were given an adjoining room (which I hate). The bathrooms are small.

This hotel just looks to be an old hotel and needs renovating. It really needs updating badly. Not very appealing and now that I know they allow pets, I will never stay there again.

Honestly, I was less than impressed from the get go.

They were overbooked and sent me to the Crown Plaza (don't even get me started about that rats nest... mouldy rooms... bleark). In any case, they were supposed to pick me up the next day via their shuttle service that showed up an hour late. In the end, they compinsated me with an Ambassador room which, to be honest, is absolutely stunning. I was also given a free breakfast, vintage bottle of wine, and cheese platter.

So, in the end, I am not reviewing an average room, but the quality of service and I feel I was adequately compensated for my troubles.

Therefore: According to the other reviews. Average rooms=Suck & Ambassardor rooms=awesomeness.

Great for the price!

from Lovejones4u
My son and I stayed here April 2006 and got a wonderful $99 rate. The staff was exceptional and the hotel quiet, clean and comfortable. The room was pretty spacious for the two double beds and the Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath are just that. My son is usually a very early riser but slept in because the bed was just that comfortable. Room service was timely but they got my order wrong.

All in all, we had a wonderful experience and for the $99 price tag plus free parking I consider it a steal!

Great Hotel

I liked the hotel a lot. Too bad they charge for everything! Do not touch anything in the mini bar! Unless you want to pay $4 for a Snickers! Great view for only $89. It is close to a lot.

I live in Augusta, and travel to Atlanta at least every other month. I have stayed in numerous hotels all over town including the Ritz, Four Seasons, W, and other Westins. I finally settled on this Westin. One of the main reasons is that they are very very very pet friendly. I routinely travel with two small dogs and we all get wonderful attention at the hotel. I routinely see other dogs at the hotel. The grounds have plenty of green space and a lake to walk your best pal any time of day. Even my wife felt secure to be alone at night. Access to the hotel is very easy of 275. Self parking is free and safe. Valley parking is cheap but will require you to wait for an attendant for up to 10 minutes later at night. The lobby is clean and inviting. I was able to bring my pets to the edge of the sitting area. Most establishments won’t let you near the food serving areas. The bar service is very pleasant. The bartender usually brings us ice cream from the main restaurant where dogs are not allowed. The breakfast buffet has been going down in the last few months and is probably not worth the money. The rooms are typical Westin: clean and comfortable with great bedding. All rooms have Internet access for a fee. However, it wasn’t working during my last stay. This hotel is not a romantic retreat by any stretch of imagination and is not in the center of Atlanta’s night life and shopping area. It is quiet on the weekend, comfortable, and friendly. Downtown and Buckhead can be reached in 10-15 minutes by car.

We checked into the Westin because we were told it was the nicest hotel in the area. Having never stayed at a Westin before, I did not know that it was primarily a business hotel, and that was my fault. Even for a business hotel, I expected it to be much more upscale. I'd always heard great things about the Westin's. Too bad they don't hold true for this one. Although the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was small and looked older and in need of a remodel. The tile was old and gave the impression that it was dirty, even though I don't think it was. The towels were torn at the edges and needed replaced. The furniture in the room was a bit beaten up. The staff was friendly until my husband went down at midnight in jeans and a t-shirt to ask for a razor for in the morning, and she grilled him on his room # and other info as if she didn't believe that he really was a guest. Its good to know that they're interested in security, but she was rude and treated him very disrespectfully even after showing his I.D. Also, we were not aware that the shuttle shuts down at 11 p.m., and the valet drove us somewhere at 10:30 and failed to mention that we only had a half hour! We called for a pickup at 11:30 and were rudely refused! Needless to say we ended up calling a cab and paying a small fortune for a ride back. Overall, it was not a good experience and I hope that this Westin does not represent all Westin's.

Fun 40 something things to do Johnny’s Hideaway on Roswell Road and Tavern on the Bridge way north on Peachtree Industrial Blvd were both great for 40 soething’s with live music, dancing and dining. Our favorite romantic seafood dining was McCormick & Schmidts on Ashford Dunwoody Road and Goldfish on the North edge of the Perimeter Mall.
