I really enjoy my stay at this beautiful hotel. We dont have hotels like that in Athens. The 2 room suite we had was as big as some apartments that I've seen. And the staff was so very friendly. Next time I'm in Atlanta, I know where I want to stay.

Nice, but could have been nicer

The Georgian Terrace was a very beautiful hotel. My boyfriend and I purchased a Valentine's Day package, which included a night at the hotel and breakfast the next morning. However, I got sick, and ended up in the hospital the next day... and the hotel refused to offer the breakfast for another time. Other then that, the hotel itself was really beautiful.

For a very short business trip, this hotel is OK. The bathroom, carpet and bedspreads are old and worn but appear to be clean. The front desk staff are, in general, rude and unaccommodating. However, this hotel is in a good location and within walking distance of a number of great restaurants. My advice, if you are in the area for more than a day or two, find another hotel.

What Space

What a beautiful older hotel. We have spent a great weekend here for each of the last couple of years. Huge two bedroom suites for just over $200. The finishes are a bit dated, but the building itself is incredible (checkout the rooftop pool on the 20th floor).

The staff has always taken great care of us, maybe a bit understaffed at times. If you need a place in Midtown, stay here.

I've stayed at The Georgian Terrace twice and my husband and I are going to fky to Atlanta today for a short trip and we are staying at The Georgian Terrace again. It is a "grand dame" so you have to know what you are getting into before you go. It is not a modern hotel. However, it is elegant, southern, genteel and gracious. The service is almost always perfect. Of course, as with any hotel (including 5 stars) you get the occasional bad apple in service, but the VERY GOOD far outweighs the VERY RARE bad apple. 95% of the time, I've had nothing but true southern graciousness in service. The rooms are great, but not 5 star. In some places it might look a little worn, but that comes with being a very old, very grand hotel. The food is wonderful, the concierge unparalled in true grand service, the rooftop pool and exercise room are wonderful and the location is absolutely great. I read a comment about the parking charge as being outrageous...those people must not travel very much because the rate is comparable to most other luxry hotels, it's a lot, but so are other hotels. That's why we don't drive and park our car, we fly and take taxis. Anyway, this is a wonderful hotel and the occasional bad service blip should not keep you from here. The total experience is the thing. If you want true Southern treatment --- genteel, elegant and graciousness --- then stay at The Georgian Terrace. We do, everytime we go to Atlanta.

DO NOT IGNORE THIS HOTEL'S BAD REVIEWS! We did and paid the price.
After reserving our room 5 months prior to a concert at the Fox, we arrived at the hotel, were greeted by friendly and helpful valet attendents, proceeded to the front desk where we were told that several guests had decided to stay another night and that we no longer had a room. NO APOLOGY! They did however pay for a small $69 room at the Marriot Marquis, a hotel that I can only describe as "okay." As we were loading our car to leave the Georgian Terrace, the helpful valet mumbled under his breath "this happens all the time."

This is exactly what I wanted my first trip to the South to be. Grand. From the moment you turn the street from the airport you feel everyone on the street watching you as if you were royalty for staying at the Georgian Terrace. Even getting out of the car is an "event" The amazing service by true southern ladies and gentlemen there is unparelled by any Luxury hotel I've every visited. The Doorman greeted me with a bow and "Madame, welcome to the grand dame of Atlanta" I did encounter one minor problem - a lightbulb was out I reported it and while in the lobby I mentioned nothing was everdone about it the concierge offered to let the manager know and in seconds I young gentleman approaced me with an army of seven or more- first I felt a little intimidated but as the manager intoduced each member of the staff an how they commited that in each of there respective departments would the rest of my stay would be flawless I felt very pampered. My stay was just that FLAWLESS. a MUST STAY.

We live in Atlanta and decided we wanted a nice hotel that is close to all the Midtown action where we could drink plentiful and walk or take a quick cab back. Well this place had super nice rooms, really large like a one bedroom apartment, and very comfotable beds. It did the trick for our evening of good fun, it should do the same for your needs!

We stayed here as part of a wedding. The room was a little worn, but fine. The service, however, was horrific. Upon arrival, they charged us the WRONG rate (almost triple) for the room we had reserved. The mattress hadn't been flipped in an eternity, and my husband and I had to flip it ourselves, or roll off one side of the bed. The room phone didn't work, and when asked to have it fixed, they never showed up. The valet parking is a complete rip-off...$25/day, and they never seem to be able to find your car or bring it to the door when you need it...we ended up walking out the car anyway. In fact, the mother&father of the bride in the wedding had their keys lost by the valet for 2 days (wedding day too!) of the 4 day weekend. The complimentary shoe shine involves being awoken at 7am to have your shoes given to you, and then when you ask to have a shirt cleaned for 3pm, it doesn't get delivered to your room until 4:30pm. Directions to local restaurants & hair salons were vague and unhelpful. The lobby plays mall muzak, and the front desk is understaffed...if you want a place to sleep, stay here.
If you want service, stay far, far away.

I read the reviews for the hotel and was very worried about the ones regarding customer service. But, I was willing to try it anyway. And I thought since it's directly across the street from the FOX theatre, that may be a small part of it. But, I don't think that is the case. Needless to say, I encountered a situation and was suprised to find out that one of the girls I approached to get help from at the front desk was very rude and lazy, she wanted me to hurry up and get out of her face, so she kept telling me that she would not be able to fix the situation, I just needed to deal with it. I truly believe that the hotel reflects the attitude of the front desk. The hotel is beautiful and most of the people were wonderful but this front desk clerk needs some customer service classes. I believe her name was Lisa. The Hotel Manager was very helpful and I believe he truly was trained the right way. I hope the front desk clerk, Lisa receives the help she so desperately needs. An attitude adjustment! My friends and I travel a lot and we spend a lot of money doing so. And I thought at first that this hotel will be crossed off our list, but then I thought about it, I am not going to let the rudeness of one front desk clerk runn my weekend, so I would stay there again, but I will make sure Lisa will never help me again.

Stayed at the Georgian Terrace for one night. Nice, clean room. Good amenities. It was worth the money and was hassle-free. Was going to stay at the Westin, but after reading the reviews posted here, we changed our reservation and went to the Terrace and glad we did. Would stay there again.

My husband and I often stay in hotels around our home city of Atlanta.
We visited the Georgian Terrace 2/7/04. We got an 850 square foot suite ($154/night, including breakfast) - there was also a smaller 650 sf suite that was only $99 but we did not go for it. THE GOOD (ROOM): The suite was lovely; nice carpet, roomy, high ceilings, a great view, soft bed linens, etc. THE BAD (ROOM): Check-in was slooooow, the bed was very soft and only queen sized, so every time my husband and I turned over, it sent "ripples" throughout the bed. Like previous reviewers said, they really need to upgrade the beds. THE GOOD (PROPERTY): This hotel is just gorgeous!! You can sense all the history here. Marble everywhere, lovely high ceilings, sweeping staircases, a breathtaking lobby which just goes up, up, up...a very good breakfast buffet (as mentioned ours was free with the room, but it was only $13/person if you had paid, which is very reasonable for downtown ATL). Everything was clean and peaceful. The rooftop pool is spectacular. It is heated.
THE BAD (PROPERTY): The valet won't pull your car around if you call; you have to physically go downstairs, give them your number, and wait in the lobby. Now I understand why they do this; TONS of people use the GT's garage for the Fox Theatre, etc. and they don't have room in their front to leave idling cars there, but it was still annoying. OVERALL: I felt it was a good value for the money - a LARGE suite for a very decent price, and it was very quiet. I would stay there again, hopefully in a room with a better bed. =) Oh, and the $25 valet fee for overnight parking is standard anywhere you go in downtown ATL, so get used to that. =)

I would give this hotel zero circles, but that isn't an option. This is the absolute worse hotel experience I've had ... maybe ever! Our "Luxury King Suite" looked NOTHING like the pictures on the internet...
grim is the nicest way to explain it. I was quoted $12 a day for parking, but it was actually $22 a day when I arrived - self parking or valet. People were complaining in the lobby that they had no heat in their rooms and that they had phone charges that appeared on their room statement that they had not made. The "full kitchen" is a joke. There were two plates and two forks. That's it! Check-in took forever. When we asked for our car to be brough to us from the garage, they circled the front and then took it back to the garage. Were they joy riding? I have no idea. After having heard all of the problems and seeing our suite, we ended up leaving the hotel and going to the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead where we were treated with respect... and it costs less! Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Top Local Tips for Atlanta

Location The entrance to the Fox is directly across the street from the hotel. Also, there is a Walgreen & Publix one block over if you need anything practical.

Good deal Use the MARTA and the shuttle if you are attending a Braves game. Altho it lets you out at Underground Atlanta (which has become a little sketchy after dark) to catch the shuttle, it is still a great way to avoid the hassle of driving and parking at Turner Field. There are lots and lots of locals that use it so just follow the crowd wearing Braves themed stuff! Also, for fabulous Greek food and atmosphere, try Avra...just a short walk from the hotel. Extemely pleasant staff and great food at reasonable prices!

Marta great Clean and safe - and very convenient. I'm a not so big city girl - and got around fairly easily and comfortably.
