Amazing

From start to finish, a fantastic hotel. For our girlfriends weekend, we booked the Luxury weekend, which included breakfast. Parking was and extra $15.00, but you could valet or self park for the same price. I chose to self park and the short walk to the elevator in the parking garage was fine. The Hotel Inter-Continental is gorgeous and steps from the Lenox mall. Our room, with two doubles (or were they queen?) had these gorgeous custom duvet covers. Each bed had a down, feather top bed and four of the softest, fluffiest pillows I've ever seen. I'm allergic to down, but I didn't have any problems, so they must be kept really clean. There were two bathrooms and slippers, a separate roman tub, marble shower, and turn down service with a piece of chocolate.

The breakfast buffet had all our favorites. It's served in the french restaurant adjacent to the lobby and had french influences, with chocolate croissants and french pastries. Coffee was a european roast. Smoked salmon, made to order omelettes and fresh squeezed orange juice were top notch.

We both had spa treatments. I had a body scrub/massage combo that was very relaxing. You can pick your own fragrant essensial oil that you like before you start.

The pool was huge and peaceful, despite construction on Peachtree. There were plenty of umbrellas to stay in the shade and also cabanas with closeable white drapes that reminded me of the Delano hotel in S. Beach.

The one hitch was a recommendation by the concierge to go to the Palm steakhouse over Morton's, which both are within walking distance. We went to the Palm but a dreary interior, unkempt tourists, and a sour tasting kir royal made us up and leave. We walked next door to Morton's and were treated like movie stars (both restaurants cost about the same). Morton's wine list was also better. It's a strange coincidence, but that is not the first time a concierge tried to steer me toward the Palm restaurant and I had a bad experience.

Now, I am trying to convince my husband to return for our anniversary next month......

5-star rooms, 1-star service

Originally booked the Intercontinental Buckhead for two days (9/1-9/3/05), ended up booking an additional two nights (9/3-9/5/05) due to not being able to travel to New Orleans for labor day weekend. First off I want to say the physical structure of the hotel and everything in it- the rooms, the lobby, business center, outdoor pool, fitness center, grounds - are beautiful and worthy of a 5-star rating. It is brand new and it shows...the rooms are awesome with spacious marble bathrooms with a seperate tub and shower. In addition, the rooms are also so tastefully furnished that I took pictures of the place to get some ideas for my own home. The outdoor pool is clean and refreshing, and the locker rooms are beautiful...wish my gym at home looked like this! The hotel aesthetically was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in, reminding me of some of the Ritz-Carltons I've patronized. However, dealing with the snotty mistake-ridden staff reminded me very thoroughly that this was not a 5-star hotel, and that the place can use some improvements in the customer service department. At check-in I requested that I stay in the same room for 4 nights (instead of checking in again on Saturday) and the front desk said it would be no problem, and to make sure nothing goes wrong just notify housekeeping that I would be staying 4 nights instead of 2. Well of course on Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm the front desk staff called (in a rather rude tone) and informed me that I needed to check out...of course I reminded them I had a reservation for 4 nights and to check their computer...a quick non-sincere apology was given, problem solved. Then I had to call housekeeping two hours later to clean the room because they somehow forgot to clean it. On Sunday morning, the flimsy $15/night self-parking card (I thought the parking fees were high given that you are in Atlanta of all places) card didn't work. Had to go down to the front desk to replace that. On Sunday afternoon, the room keys stopped working. Had to go down to the front desk and get a new set. Every time I had to go down to the front desk they said "I need to see your ID" before even saying "hi" or "what can I help you with" or anything. I guess "I need to see your ID" was their standard greeting at the hotel. I would have thought that staff would have recognized me, considering that I dealt with the same front desk staff every time there was a problem. In addition to that, early Monday morning (5:30 am) I have a red flashing light indicating that I had a message on my phone..find out the last time I went down to the front desk I dropped one of my credit cards...now, I am glad the credit card was found and in safe hands, however, the front desk clerk acknowldged that he was the one that found the card. Basically it took 8 hours for the front desk to leave a message in my room saying that the found a lost credit card when it was in their possession for the whole time. 2 hours later, the fire alarm went off in the hallway. Needless to say I didn't leave the hotel too happy, which is sad becuase I thought the room and overall facility was really nice. On a side note, housekeeping is a bit chinsy when it comes to restocking toiletries (always a pet peeve of mine in hotels) Stayed four nights and only got restocked once. Hope others had a better stay here than myself, I wouldn't want to come back again. As for Atlanta, I would never come here again unless I had to on business (and with that I hope it would be a short stay) - to say I didn't care for the city and people in Atlanta would be an understatement.

Better Than First Class

First, let me say that I do like Atlanta but hate downtown. This Hotel is perfectly located in Buckhead. The area is a mix of cultures and is upscale without the snob factor. Enough about the area.

My first impression of the hotel was Impressive. The structure stood sleek and modern. The valets, who seem like a small friendly army, met you as soon as you wheels stopped in the driveway. They made you instantly feel welcomed. The check in process was seamless it took maybe minutes. The clerk was professional and very friendly and engaging as was all of the staff. You were made to feel that they enjoyed helping you and were not just going through the motions.

Our room was located on the 7th floor on a corner, which overlooked the majestic Peachtree Rd. The bed was pillow-top and very heavenly. The room was without a doubt the cleanest, neatest and up-to-date I have every stayed in. We recently stayed at the Omni also in Atlanta, which is a very nice property, but it does not come close to the Intercontinental. The Bathroom was huge with a condo-sized bathroom. In fact the room was huge, clean and modern. It was decorated with Class, not just placing furniture into a hole. Awesome rooms.

Don forget to stop at the bar XO it looks a little snobby, but its not once you in it’s a very inviting place. Great people Super service. The Terrace just outside the bar that sit slightly above Peachtree Rd in the place to sip drink and watch the world go back. Jermain will make sure you feel welcome.
This is a great property. BETTER THAN FIRST CLASS!!!

Beautiful property, pricy food and beverage

This place is top notch, with great service, very comfortable beds, and beautiful rooms. It always helps to be brand new!

My only complaint is the price of food and wine. I was going to order room service pancakes for breakfast, and after the fee and tip, it would have cost $25! (without beverages). I was shocked to see that even in the hotel restaurant, they cost $16! Pancakes? I ended up ordering a muffin for $2.75. It was the size of a baby's fist. I expect a healthy mark up on wine, but 4 times the retail price? Come on guys, you don't need to do this.

I stayed here on a government rate for work. I wasn't impressed much with Atlanta, and didn't feel like sight seeing on my own, so the hotel was it for me.
The room was great---the bathroom was huge and had a great big sunken tub. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was spacious. I had room service a few times, it was great each time, and the servers were very friendly. One of the times, he insisted on setting up my tray, pouring my milkshake, opening the ketchup, and turning the tv towards me! I almost laughed.
There is internet there, and although they say there is a fee, I used it for free a few times each day. No problems there.
It's close to the MARTA line, a quick walk, and a fairly quick walk to the mall too, maybe 15 minutes at the most. There are also a couple of restaurants in walking distance, like Maggiano's, I believe.

Without a doubt, the best hotel I've ever stayed at!! The hotel is located near great entertainment (ESPN Zone, Roxy, movie theaters, and Turner Field). I can't imagine how anyone would give this hotel a bad review? The rooms were very clean, huge bath with seperate shower, the most comfortable beds I've slept on (including my own). The staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful. deffinetly an upper 4 star or lower 5 star hotel. I got my room through hotwire for $86 per night, complete steal.

This was my first visit to the Intercontinental in Buckhead. I have stayed at the Ritz, Grand Hyatt and Four Season's and I must say this is probably my favorite. Hotel personnel were very attentive and polite, rooms were clean and extremely quite, and location is ideal for a visit to Buckhead. I must say the bed my wife and I slept in was the most comfortable bed we have ever been in. Great Hotel, we used Priceline and got our room for $85.00 what a deal!

I stayed with a friend over the weekend (May 28, 2005) for a wedding and our experience was fantastic! I actually live in Atlanta and I didn’t want to leave the next morning!

We took a dip in the pool right after we got there and it was pleasant because it was heated and the sun had already gone down for the day. I loved the fact that there were fresh flowers everywhere in the hotel - just a nice touch! The facilities for the wedding reception (Ballroom) were wonderful. We also had a lovely brunch the next morning. The food and service during both events were excellent! The bed turned down with a chocolate and a flower at the end of the night was just what we needed after a long night of celebrating and dancing. Everyone from the bell hop to the front desk attendants to the bar tenders to the servers that worked at the wedding reception were extremely friendly. This hotel was wonderful all around and I would definitely recommend it to others!!

First Class Hotel

Just returned from 3 night stay. Hotel open about 6 months; everything was perfect. Valet parking is $24/day; Buckhead is so congested it is worth it. The staff, the entire property, room service were first rate. The beds beat the Westin Heavenly Bed...may have to buy one! Got a great deal on Hotwire. It will be my choice to return there on next trip. Can't recommend it enough.

Dirty, although pretty, hotel

Snagged a govt rate to stay one night while attending a concert in Buckhead. Maybe this low rate was the reason they put us in these particular rooms (611/613). Arrived to the room to find a room service tray full of dirty dishes outside the door, so I assumed the room was occupied. Nope, it was just slack cleaning!

The television was not working (only "free" channels could be viewed, except ESPN news) and a light was out in the sink area of the bathroom. A workman came to check on these things about 15 minutes after our arrival, but did nothing. We called several people and an hour later were moved to the room next door.

That room also had a light out over the sink and the vanity light (for makeup and grooming) was also inoperable. The worst part came when we went to make decaf following the concert and discovered used coffee grounds in the maker. Yuck!

The hotel and rooms were beautiful, but the filth was inexcusable. The manager offered us a free upgrade to Club Level on our next visit, but there will not be a next visit for us.

Top Local Tips for Atlanta

SUV beware Take the hotel's complimentary ride to the shopping areas. We never got to Lenox Square but Phipps Plaza is a treat. It's super high end retail with Versace, Tiffany's, Jimmy Choos, and more. Three levels of elegance and goodies. But driving in the area is really scary for bigger vehicles. Our SUV barely fit in the lane and there are a zillion roads with a zillion more special turn lanes. Let someone else do the driving (although walking is certainly a consideration... everything is close).

Take the Marta If you are staying at any of the big hotels in the Buckhead section, you'll find a MARTA stop very close. We took it back to the Airport- 14 stops- but very quick and easy. Since it was so easy and only cost a few $2.75- it would be nuts to spend for a limo or cab.
