Great, but...

We stayed at the Buckhead Embassy suites for 3 nights during my kids'spring break. The best part of this hotel is it's location - a stone's throw from the MARTA transit stop, and some of the best restaurants and the Lennox mall. They even have a shuttle to drop you within a mile radius, which is all you really need to go, since the MARTA will take you elsewhere. The breakfast, happy hour and the heated swimmming pool were great features that the kids loved. The gym is a bit too small (just 2 EFX and 2 treadmills is woefully inadequate).
The second night of our stay we were woken up rudely at 6.00 am to the sound of a helicopter landing near the room; it turned out they were doing swimming pool repairs on the second floor with a heavy drill. Apparently, the general manager actually scheduled this event. In fact upon check-in, I had specifically asked for a quiet room, and I was given assurance that there was no construction going on! That showed very poor judgment and no communication through the management lines. However, I must say they made up very graciously, and seemed to take our complaint seriously - no brush-offs, and they did compensate one night's stay, and even gave us a nice goody-bag to go. I think this hotel is so full of business clients they tend to put the families on the lower floor - so ask for the upper floors if you really want peace and quiet, although the second floor does give you easy access to the lobby, the big TV and lounge areas.

Another weak area is the concierge services, it seemed as though the staff knew very little more than what I knew, and could not really help with any suggestions or information on sightseeing, nor could they assist with bookings for popular venues like the acquarium. This just reflects the fact that the hotel is geared mostly towards business clients.
Overall, it is a fine hotel and we would go back there again, only I would be very cautious in finding the right room.

Not simply the best but acceptable

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Buckhead for three nights the week of March 15.

Though this hotel was NOT "simply the best" as indicated in a previous post it was, in some areas, above average.

We found the front desk staff to be "snooty" and if you asked them any questions it was obvious they did not wish to be bothered.

The valet parking staff members were friendly and efficient. We never waited more than three minutes for our automobile.

The Hotel Shuttle Service they advertise (allegedly they will give you a ride to any location within a mile of the hotel) is a joke. When we inquired about this service we were told, by the front desk staff, we had to be in the lobby waiting for the shuttle an HOUR before we needed to leave the hotel, there was no guarantee the shuttle would take us to any location by a specific time and there was no guarantee we would be picked up and returned to the hotel.

We found the restaurant staff to be wonderful and the food very good (especially the fruit plates).

The room/suite was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom very clean and neat. Guest ammenities in the bath (shampoo, etc...) were limited to only shampoo and lotion (no conditioner, etc...).
The windows had a very unique ventilation system that allowed fresh outside air into the room through a sliding system of grates and filters and we enjoyed the cool fresh air.

We were very unimpressed by the furniture in the suite/room which we found to be old, scarred, nicked, and scratched.

We paid $178.00 per night at this property. All-in-all it's a $125.00 per night property given the condition of the furniture in the rooms, the limited bath ammenities, and the service level.

Simply the Best!

I travel to Atlanta 1-2 times a year. I've stayed several places including the Westin and Ritz Carlton downtown. Because I stay for a week, I decided to get a suite hotel. Without doubt this has been the best yet! From the time you pull up to the door you're made to feel like a king. Absolutely everyone went out of their way to make my stay the best. At the registration desk everyone was great, especially Michelle. Room service was fast and friendly, rooms are very large and extra clean. I had a problem with the Nintendo 64 controler and maintenance responded in 10 minutes with a new controler.
The breakfast was probably the best part of my stay.
All you can eat and we're not just talking continental breakfast. They had pancakes, made to order omlets, scambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, toast, pastries, bagels, cereal......
Rooms were very spacious with fantastic views of Buckhead and downtown Atlanta!
Only downside to this hotel is that it's a long walk anywhere you go, but the hotel has free shuttle service anywhere you want to go within a mile radious. The Marta station is only 1 1/2 blocks away.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Great location, Great Hotel

Stayed at this hotel for one night in December, 05. The location was great, close to the highway and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The internet access was wireless which was nice, but it cost $10 a day which seems riduculous to me with all the other hotels that provide it for free. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and a great start to the day. Overall the stay was very nice and I would probably look at staying here again.

Traveling for business and I only stayed for one night at this hotel We landed in Atlanta before dawn, Embassy allowed us an early check-in and that was very much appreciated. They also directed us to the complimentary breakfast. I was very pleased with this hotel and their staff because they went above and beyond to help when needed. The first day there we took the shuttle and service was efficient and on the return trip the driver offered to take our work associates (staying somewhere else) back to their hotel. (after hearing they planned to walk from ours) It had been a really long day. (after 9:00PM)

Room was clean, spacious and if your staying longer, there is a refrigerator and microwave. Loved the open/airy feeling of the Hotel. Breakfast was very good and lots of choices and once again efficient service for the number of people to be served.

Good job Embassy Suite! I'd definitely return.

PS Our work associates stayed at one of the leading hotels (twice the expense) with horrible service.

Perfect with teens!

We stayed here with our 2 teens a couple of days before they needed to move into their college dorms. It was perfect!
We generally need to get 2 rooms for the 4 of us but decided to try a suite style hotel for our last few days together as a family.
The following were features that made it a great stay...........
Room size: Spacious and large room was great for all the extra shopping we did for the dorms! We never felt crowed.
Clean: Rooms were very clean as well as other areas of hotel.
Sinks galore: I loved having an extra vanity with sink and mirror in the bedroom area. Great for doing makeup,hair while others showered. A 3rd sink was in the "living room" area near microwave, coffee maker, mini refrig where kids had sleeper sofa.
Breakfast: They had a great breakfast that was included with the price of room. The biscuits were great!!! (biscuits available midweek only) This was a great money saver for a family of 4.
Pre-Dinner Cocktail hour: Free cocktails and nibblers! Nice way for parents to wind down after all that shopping with teenagers.
Staff: Superb!!! Friendly!! It was a pleasure to see their smiling faces every time we walked by. They were very honest about recommending restaurants (free shuttles) and gave us their opinions about places to visit in Atlanta.
Only one negative: One night were all exhausted and decided to eat dinner in the hotel. That was a disappointment! Poor quality and service. Be sure to go out to the many fabulous nearby places instead!

A Decent Hotel

Stayed June 24-26. Went to Atlanta for a Braves game. I booked through the Embassy Suites web site. The hotel was nice. The exterior colors were a little strange. The room was clean and quite large. The carpet looked and felt new. The morning breakfast was fair- not as good as a previous stay in Orlando. The location was excellent. I never used my car. It is a five minute walk to the Buckhead MARTA station and 10 minutes to Lennox Mall. Took the MARTA to Turner Field. Morton's Steakhouse and Maggianno's Italian restaurant are a five minute walk. Dantanna's Surf and Turf was very good. It is a 10 minute walk and near Lenox Mall (right next to the Westin). Would probably stay there again.

No complaints here....loved the suite, the king size bed was so comfortable and the breakfast was wonderful. I just wish I could have stayed longer to continue the enjoyment!

There were 3 of us to one suite and there was tons of space. The embassy suites is convenient for buckhead, lenox mall etc and is really close to the marta.. the breakfast and cocktail receptions were good, the free shuttle was handy and the staff were all so lovely and helpful, would go the extra mile for you.

if i went to atlanta again i would definitely stay here.. or the new hotel being built just down the street- popping back daily to visit the staff at the embassy suites!

I've stayed at many Embassy Suites. This was quite nice and above average. The room got a little warm, even with the a/c on full blast. The breakfast is nice. They also have a bar and restaurant. It is right on peachtree in Buckhead, so any type of food/shopping you want is near by. I didn't park my car, but I belive there is a hefty charge for that.

Top Local Tips for Atlanta

Swim by the Aquarium You won't be disappointed. I would recommend going on a weekday as I hear the weekends can be quite busy. It opened in 2005. You see hundreds (thousands?) of fish but it is not overwhelming. We had a quick bite at their restaurant that had a big and varied menu.

MARTA They have an excellent train system in Atlanta. If you are willing to do some walking you can get away with having to rent a car.

The Subways If you have never been to the Atlanta area, please make sure you know exactly where you are staying, there are different parts of town and if you don't get it right you can end up on the wrong side of town. The subways are easy but difficult if you don't know exactly where you are going. A pass is $2.25, that is for the pass and the fair, which is $1.75. The Subway is the easiest and cheapest way to get around.
