Really really nice place. Beautiful grounds, nice pools, relaxed, great views of Tampa Bay. Excellent rate on Priceline for excellent room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is perfect though having a car is pretty much essential unless you're just using it for the airport. Easy access to Downtown Tampa, Ybor City and the Gulf beaches. Will be back for sure.

I am a Hyatt platinum gold passport member and a frequent guest at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. The Hyatts that have earned "grand" status are always more luxurious than your run of the mill Hyatts, but the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay really exceeds all expectations. It is located on the water, next to a beautiful nature preserve. There are very nice walkways where you can see all kinds of native florida wildlife. The beds are incredibly comfortable, comparable to the Westin Heavenly Beds. Armani's Restaurant serves wonderfull gourmet italian, don't miss their lobster bisque either. Oystercatcher's is more casual, but their food is just as good. Wonderful seafood and pasta,save room for the key lime pie too. The only restaurant I have not tried is Petey Brown's in the lobby. Ordinarily, I try to avoid hotel food, but Oystercatcher's and Armani's both attract locals, to give you some idea of how good the food is! I almost did not write this review only because there is not usually a wait at either restaurant, and I wouldn't want either of them to become too well-known, to the point where it is hard to get a table. Service at the hotel is exceptional as well, from the front desk to the valet to the lobby bar. Try to get a room with a view of the water instead of the cityview, it is well worth the extra $! After looking on the internet for what seemed like months - I chose the Grand Hyatt at Tampa Bay based on other reviews from this forum. I was not disappointed! This hotel is beautiful and has an absolutely wonderful view of Tampa Bay! The room was lovely - the bed was very comfortable - everything was very clean! We used the pool at the south end of the property - the Casita pool - and the setting is gorgeous! There is a shuttle that takes you there, or you can walk a boardwalk through a natural preserved setting. The walk is great - as long as it is not in the middle part of the day - HOT! We drove our own car and parked at the restaurant parking lot (Oystercatchers). This restaurant serves the pool area - drinks, lunch, snacks....and you can charge what you order to your room. Two items to note: I do not like feather pillows - and that is what is there. Also, we ate one meal at the hotel - a breakfast. Neither my husband or myself received what we ordered. Otherwise - our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable! We would recommend this hotel that is close to the airport - International Plaza and just a short distance to many other things to anyone!

I am a hotelier and extremely picky. I chose the Grand Hyatt for a last minute weekend getaway and had done some research - but basically picked this hotel blindly.
The location on the bay was beautiful. The pool near the casitas feels like a remote resort getaway. The food was quite excellent. The guestroom was nicely appointed and very clean. The bed was as "heavenly" as any of the competitors - with down pillows, down comforter and a down pad......I wanted to relax and this visit absolutely was perfect.
There are also outsdoor walkways to a gazebo and the hotel is on a nature preserve. My son and I went early in the morning to enjoy a stroll - but were scared off by the early morning bugs and spiders! Otherwise - this would have been another delightful feature of this hotel.
Well done - Grand Hyatt!

I spent two nights on business at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay and it was lovely. I asked for a room with a view and received one at no additional charge. It was lovely. The bed, especially, was wonderful. It would have been nice to have high speed internet access in the room (i believe certain floors have it and mine did not) however the business center was easy to use and all I had to do was check email anyway. Staff was friendly and room service was good. Very nice!
I found my new favorite hotel!

Thanks to these reviews, my finace and I chose the Grand Hyatt for a weekend trip to Busch Gardens. We booked a bayview casita. I was delighted with the Spanish- styled decor. It was a refreshing change from the typical frumpy hotel room.
The food was great and and so was the service. The staff made us feel like we were the only guests on the property.
The surroundings where very calm on the resort grounds, no little kids running and splashing around with orange floaters on. Another plus, considering the fact that some places charge, the ultra-convenient parking must not be taken for granted!!
Overall everything was great and we have no complaints. I definitely plan on returning and when I do it will be in a casita suite. This is my new favorite hotel!

Treated ourselves to a 3 bedroom casita suite in May 04. For once, a virtual tour on a website that does the place justice! What you see on their website is what you get. Believe me, I've had my share of disappointments at other hotels. But no here... this was a stay of a lifetime!
The 3 bedroom suite was more than enough space for the 5 of us. The rooms were amazing, very spacious, clean, and comfortable. We were located just steps away from the casita pool, which was never crowded. Even the ducks would come in every day for a quick swim themselves!
I really enjoyed the nature walk up the main hotel for lunch/breakfast. Had both a wonderful breakfast and lunch at Petey Brown's. Had the chance to have dinner at Oystercatcher's one evening, which was fantastic! I've never had such delicious crab cakes.
No complaints whatsoever about the Grand Hyatt. Even the small crabs that managed to sneak into the suite when the maids had the door open provided some entertainment! Not to worry, they were only the size of your thumbnail and easy to catch!
Definitely worth every penny!

Touch of Luxury Next to Airport

Well after fretting long and hard about staying someplace nice in a central location I finally decided on the Grand Hyatt Tampa. Hop, skip and a jump from the airport the hotel is a refreshing oasis!
I took the recommendations from previous reviewers and snagged a casita room. Very cute, bed was comfy and so were the linens. Room overlooked the garden and was short walk to the pool casita pool (which was relaxing, and amusing when the ducks jumped in for daily swims) and the Oystercatcher resturaunt.
Tropical feel, decent service, nice staff I would stay there again. Grand Hyatt does not fit into the run of the mill airport hotel at all. Grounds were squeeky clean with someone always making sure things look good.

We stayed for the weekend in the casitas -- single story Spanish style rooms with tiled floors, and a back set of doors that opens up to the beautiful Bay. There is even a fan in the room to create a nice breeze.
A better place to stay instead of the big 'traditional' hotel.
The service was great, with the rooms cleaned to a wonderful level, getting rid of all the sand we tracked in from the beach.
the food was great, with an amazing Key lime Pie.
the pools were great, with towels provided, though the water was cool.
The gym was great, with eliptical machines with tvs and headsets.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I would ask to stay in a casita!

Top Local Tips for Tampa
Location It is very 5 minutes from the airport and the hotel provided a shuttle service to/from the airport.
Use the self-service kiosk! Rented from Alamo and found 20 people in line when I arrived @ the Alamo rental location. The self-service kiosks were empty. I used it...it took 5 minutes (maybe) to go through the various screens and get my confirmation. From there, I walked out to the "midsize car" area and picked the one I liked! Much like National's Emerald Aisle service, really.
Acquiring Area Info Unless you're wireless, mapquest directions to attractions/shopping from the hotel before you arrive. The hotel only had a couple of maps for specific attractions and we couldn't see how to get there from the hotel. Front desk can mapquest it for you if you wish.
