Historical Traveller Reviews of The Ritz Carlton Sarasota Hotel

This is a wonderful property! I have stayed at this hotel on 3 seperate occasionas and it spoils you for other hotels ... even Ritz's. I have stayed at Ritz Carltons and other nice resorts all over the US and Caribbean and this is one of the nicest. I have not returned to this property in about 6 months but I am going tomorrow and I cannot wait to return. We have stayed on the club level every time and have found the staff there to be excellent, attentive, and the food to be good. That being said, the old manager Jean-Pierre was leaving and from the sounds of the reviews that may have been a bad decision on the hotels part. I was amazed at some of the peoples negative reviews about this property but everyon has thier own opinions. I thought the Ritz in St. Thomas was horrible if you were on the old side. However, the club level and new rooms were very nice but, the service everywhere in this hotel was terrible. I highly recommend the Ritz in Sarasota to anyone.
We took a girls trip to the Ritz Carlton, Sarasota and had a fabulous time. We stayed on the club level and thought the service was great. The beach club is beautiful and the staff there was so nice. The whole trip was pretty close to perfect.
What a place!
My wife and I booked a room at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota while in Florida through AAA. The price included a $50 food credit. The property was beautiful, clean, and elegant. The staff was great too, just make sure you have plenty of singles in your pocket for tips. The valet staff was first notch. I was impressed that they always greeted me and my wife by name. The pool was beautiful, but a bit shallow. Take advantage of the private beach club, which is top notch! The only complaint I have is that the bed was very uncomfortable. If your rate includes the $50 food credit, use it at the Breakfast Buffet, which is very nice. It will run you $52.00 for 2.
Loved it, Strongly recommended

The Ritz Carlton Sarasota was fantastic! I am going to start with how friendly the staff was with the guests. They are very polite and helpful. It was very pretty how when you walk through the lobby everyday, there is a harpist playing. It is so nice. The rooms were very nice. The bathrooms were very nice with their white marble and silver fixtures. The armoire was very nice, it had a nice wood design. the beds were very comfortable! They had a comfortable matress topper and duvet sheets. (Thats what the bell man told me.) Every room comes with a balcony and the views are very nice. The complete Ritz Carlton Sarasota is made up of two 17 to 18 story towers. The hotel is made up of only the first 9 floors of one of the towers or the main tower. The rest of the floors and the second tower are all made up of residences. The pool of the hotel is very nice, but I strongly reccomend the BEACH CLUB. It is a club recently built by Ritz Carlton Sarasota which is only about 3 miles away I believe. There is a free shuttle that takes you from the hotel or you can drive there which is very easy to get to. The Beach Club includes, restaurants, very nice contemporary pool, jacuzzi, kids pool, RITZ KIDS kids club, waiters service, a beach known as LIDO BEACH, and a great time! It is strongly reccomended. There is no charge to go, if you are a guest then you can go. We spent almost every day at the Beach Club. Back at the Ritz Carlton there are some very nice restaurants. The meeting rooms were very nice and comfortable, we were there on business too. We had breakfast at Vernona their signature restaurant and it was very nice. The service was OKAY it was not really that great, + I found it pretty expensive, but overall it was a great experience. There are lots of nice restaurants in that area which are very enjoyable and nice. The parking at the hotel is $15 dollars a day and it is VALET only. The elevators of the hotel were very quick. You won't have to worry about waiting. Well, I hope you enjoy the Ritz Carlton like I did. God Bless....
top notch resort
We have stayed at the Sarasota Ritz Carlton several times and have never been disappointed. The service is excellent, the grounds are beautiful, and our room overlooking the marina was spectacular. Make sure to utilize the new beach club which offers a private beach, pool and dining. The hotel runs a shuttle to not only the beach club but nearby St. Armands Circle daily. We highly recommend this hotel!
Poor Housekeeping. Great Beach Club

I was very disappointed in my recent stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota. I stayed there on a long business trip from April 14 leaving on April 20. They gave me the wrong room. After three tries I found a room but had to have housekeeping clean the bathtub. The bathroom floors were filthy and were not mopped once during my stay as it had the same hair as the day I arrived. The carpets in the room and in the hallway were stained. One of the phones did not work. The sliding glass door to the balcony was broken. I had to leave notes in order for my sheets to be changed. I had room service on 4/15 and the crumbs remained during the rest of the stay despite my complaints. I would not recommend this Ritz Carlton to anyone.
The only positive was the beach club which was great.
A Castle in Paradise
Just spent five days at the Ritz at the end of April and it was a perfect getaway. Everything about this hotel is world class. The room (waterview) was really nice and spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed and a great view. Nightly turn down service was a real treat. The entire property is extremely well maintained and includes a beautiful pool area overlooking the bay. The new beach club is fantastic and has a very Carribean flavour. The spa was lovely as well but no time to try any of the services (only lockers and showers) on this trip (next time treatments for sure). The service everywhere was amazing - first class treatment with sincerity that can only come from people who truly love their jobs. All the staff were great but Peter (Ca d'Zan), Kristoff, Lars, and Emily (beach club) were extra special. It was a truly wonderful experience to be treated like royalty...already planning to go back for a return visit next year.
An Incredible Hotel
I just spent a week at the ritz carlton with my family. The hotel is beautiful and after a few days you really feel like you have been staying in a palace. The rooms are tasteful luxury with oversized marble bathrooms. We spent time at the new spa as well as the new beach club. These facilities were nothing short of magnificent. The hotel is more than reasonable for all that is offered and my family had the vacation of our life. This clearly is the place to stay in the Sarasota area. Sarasota and longboat key also just keep getting nicer and nicer
The Ritz: a study in comfort and luxury

My partner and I stayed for three nights in a water-view room at the Ritz last month. I've lodged in some wonderful 4- and 5-star European hotels, and the Ritz is in that class. Waiters, concierges, valet attendants, indeed, the entire staff make one feel welcome; their response to a 'thank you' is always, 'It is my pleasure!' and the quality of their service and their enthusiasm make one believe it. The new facility at Lido Beach is wonderful: it's free for hotel guests, and you can either drive, or take the free hourly shuttle bus. Once there, you're brought to the chaise lounge of your choice by an attendant who arranges towels on the lounge for you and hands you a menu. The pool, hot tub, and beach itself are lovely, as are the locker rooms. Attendants periodically offer small refreshments, on the house (mixed nuts, for instance). We had room-service breakfasts each day, and the food was excellent and thoughtfully presented. My shoes were expertly shined (complimentary service) and returned in a Ritz shoebox.
In short, the trip was a relaxing, luxurious vacation and we hope to return to the Ritz in Sarasota for more pampering soon.
Club Level needs HELP!
We just returned from the Ritz Carlton Sarasota after a 4 day stay. We had a room on the Club Level. We chose the Club Level after 2 fabulous stays at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne Club Level. We were VERY disappointed with the service at Sarasota's Club. We literally had to hunt around to find ANYONE from the Club Concierge staff! They didn't know us by name, even at the end of the trip. At cocktail hour, we were lucky to find a staff member to offer us a drink. The room wasn't fabulous either. We wished we'd paid half the price and stayed in the regular rooms, as sad as that sounds. The new Beach Club is fabulous, and although they offer a free shuttle, drive yourself so you can leave when you want to. The valet staff is fabulous, as is the beach club staff. And the downstairs concierge was great too. Don't pay the extra $$ for the Club here.......save that for the Ritz Key Biscayne!
Top Local Tips for Sarasota
Avoid USAir and Tampa airport
Sarasota airport is a 10-minute cab ride, and RC has a beach and golf course shuttle. You can avoid renting a car for a short stay. However much more difficult it is to book air fare to Sarasota over Tampa, do it. The headaches in Tampa are only getting worse, and Useless Air, I mean USAir, represents all that has gone wrong in the Tampa airport, where TSA is surly, Hertz is pathetic, and the lines go on for hours. Sarasota airport is traveling the way it used to be.
Activities for young children
Definitely check out the children's fountain. The aquarium is a nice short trip as well (takes about 45 minutes to view).
Shopping In St. Armand's Circle
The stores don't open until 10am so you will have to hang out at Starbuck's until they do
