Fantastic!!!

My husband and I stayed here 4 nights for the Orange Bowl and this hotel exceded all my expectations. We reserved the room for $159 a night - the room was great with a seperate sitting area, jacuzzi tub and one extremely comfortable king size bed.
They have a rooftop pool and jacuzzi that is also a nice addition. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Fort Lauderdale or Miami area - there are many good restaurants and shops nearby. We will definitly stay here again.

Beautiful rooms

The Sheraton Suites Plantation is located attached to a shopping center that looks closed up. It is not a very nice setting. I felt uncomfortable walking to my car at night. It is located on a busy highway with excellent access to the Florida turnpike and 95. It took us 20 minutes to get there from the Fort Lauderdale Airport. The rooms are really nice. They look newly renovated and the décor is modern and comfortable in tones of beige with rust accents and soft white sheets. The bedroom is separated from the sitting area with shuttered white pocket doors and the room comes with two TV sets and two sinks in the bathroom …perfect for families. I didn’t care for getting hit with the $6.10 charge for the convenience bar. The convenience center has a sink, microwave & small refrigerator nothing special but nice to have in the room.

A TERRIBLE Disappointment

We booked an accessible room, non smoking, with a king sized bed at this property on March 12th, 2006, for our stay of one night on September 21st, 2006. Our reservation was confirmed. It was listed on the Starwood website. I called and reconfirmed on September 15th. All was well. The General Manager, Michael Fatta. sent us a welcoming email on September 18th, welcoming us to the hotel, and volunteering to do anything to make our stay more comfortable.
We flew to Fort Lauderdale, from Nevada, on September 21st, and arrived at the hotel at about 6:00pm.
They had NO room for us! The man working at the desk told us that the rooms had been sold out before March 12th, when we mentioned that we had made our reservation on that date. My husband then asked him why we were given a confirmation number, or a reservation at all. He shrugged his shoulders. He offered to try to get us a room in another Sheraton somewhere else, which we declined, as we had a meeting in that area. He then said he could get us a room at a Comfort Inn close by for the same $150 we had paid. We politely declined, and ended up at another hotel, again at that same rate.
At no time did we lose our tempers. We were a decently dressed, grandparent aged couple. To my knowledge we are pretty ordinary looking, and not normally turfed out of hotels, restaurants, etc., experienced travellers.
I would NOT recomend this hotel to anyone, as I would hate to see anyone else arrive and have the same set of circumstances. Not a pleasant thing to deal with when you are tired and just want to get to your room.

Perfect Stay

Recently stayed at the Sheraton Suites. Loved it. The staff were excellent from the front desk to the restaurant to the housekeeping team. The rooms were spacious and clean. The pool on the rooftop provided an excellent view. We usually stay closer to the beach but are now tired of the congestion down there. Congrats to the Front Office Manager and GM for hiring a great staff. Everyone went out of their way for me and my family. The hotel will be undergoing renovations this year and I can't wait to return. Thank you everyone for making our stay so great!!!!

Mall attached to Hotel now like a ghost town

ROOMS are beautiful and clean. The view was not good at all.(overlooked outside construction of mall or hotel.).
It was dissapointing to find out that 90% of the stores in the mall attached, The Fashion Mall were closed out. This used to be one of the top malls in the area. (it completely looked like a ghost town)
The mall was one of the main reasons why I chose to stay at the hotel.
Over all this is one of my favorite hotels in Ft Lauderdale, because of location near to the mall less than 1/4 mile away. Broward mall, which is fully opened with tons of stores and because of the spacious clean rooms.
The staff is ok. but not over friendly.

Great Family Retreat

What I like most about this hotel is the service. Everyone from the front desk, to bartenders, to room staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms are very roomy and beds are comfy. I would not rate the rooms “fancy” but they are consistent and clean and roomy. The roof-top pool is really neat and bigger than one would expect (could definitely swim laps in it if you wanted). This is defiantly a suburban hotel and it’s a bit of a drive to beaches (around 20 minutes or more) but being in the suburbs there are tons of restaurant choices nearby from inexpensive to fancy. The hotel is attached to a mall, but it’s a mall that is under-going renovation and much of it is empty (and has little as far as shopping choices). There is a nice, large mall, however just a few minutes down the road.

This hotel never disappoints. I've stayed here several times for both business and pleasure trips. The rooms are incredibly spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff is always friendly and goes out of the way to be helpful. The location is excellent even for those visiting Fort Lauderdale, which is an easy 15-20 minute drive away. I'm impressed with the quality and service this hotel consistenly delivers. Besides the restaurant in the hotel, there are several good restaurants within walking distance (Bonefish Grill & Cheeseburger in Paradise). The rooftop pool is great as well. Whenever I'm in the Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation area, this is my hotel of choice. As a former devotee of the Renaissance, and having stayed several times at the Staybridge Suites, I would highly recommend this hotel over those others, with confidence.

Excellent Stay at Sheraton Suites Plantation

My wife and I stayed at this hotel Jan 4/06 to Jan 10/06 for a six night stay. We had arrived early, 11am and front desk staff were kind enough to allow us to check-in early (regular check in time was 3pm), thus we could unpack and rest abit from our long trip and still have the rest of day to plan activities. The hotel is located beside the Fashion Mall approx. 10 miles from airport and beaches. A car is definitely a necessity for touring around Ft Lauderdale and surrounding areas. The Hotel does have a free shuttle, but only from the hotel to the airport, not vis-versa. The location is excellent for both leisure and business travellers and is only 20 mins to Atlantic shore beaches and boardwalk.

The public areas of the hotel, lobby, reception, lounges, were well kept and very relaxing. There are 9 floors with over 200 room, so it is quite large and at times quite busy.

Amenities included at the hotel are: They have free parking, both outside and indoor covered, a definite plus. Valet is also available. The elevators in the hotel (3) are very fast and efficient.

Upstairs on the 9th fl is a large pool with a hot tub at one end (nice hot water to soak in). They have lounge chairs and coffee tables. Lots of plush towels for guests convinence. Also have an exercise room with TV and machines. There is also a dry sauna available on the 9th fl. Spectacular view of the Plantation area.

Now on the amenities of the room itself. This hotel is an all suites hotel, with bedroom separated from living room with sliding parition doors and pull out sofa bed (for the kids). There are also 2 TV's in the room thus allowing for separate enjoyment. There is a VCR and nintendo games available. A small mini-fridge, with Microwave, coffee maker and a work desk. Hispeed internet is also available in the room at a charge, or if you do not mind the inconvience, there is also free internet access in the business center; there are two computers and a printer and Dsl cable if you bring your own laptop.

The hotel has excellent service personnel from front desk, to bellman, to housecleaning to security.

It is a very safe and comfortable place to stay. My compliments to the GM. If we are to return to the Ft Lauderdale area, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The mattress is wonderful! So comfortable. The rooms are spacious - especially the bathroom! Huge jaccuzi tub/shower. We will definately stay here on our next trip to FL. Only bad thing is that breakfast in the hotel restaurant was outrageously expensive! It was around $15 for just eggs and sausage! Not worth it - go find an Ihop for breakfast.

Wonderful hotel. The new Sheraton Sleep Mattress was awesome. We had a spacious room which contained all the amenties for a comfortable stay. The hotel wa only minutes away from great shopping. We would stay again.

Top Local Tips for Plantation

No local night life - need to Drive to Ft. Lauderdale - Need a Rental Car You definitely need a car in this location. If you are here for a beach vacation, I recommend renting a convertible .. makes the ride to the beach more fun!

Tons of things to do in Plantation, Fort Lauderdale, & Miami We were in Plantation for a week for a soccer tournament, but found that there were several things to do in Plantation including tons of excellent golf courses and tennis courts. We highly recommend the Jacaranda Golf Course, which was only 5 minutes from our hotel (Sheraton Suites). If shopping is more your forte, the Broward Mall is virtually next door. Fort Lauderdale is only 20 minutes away, and there are the beaches as well as many high-end shopping areas (The Galleria is packed with high-end stores) and attractions there. Miami is only 30-45 minutes away and there are tons of things to do there.
