Don't let the Internet site fool you!
There is no beach. The stairs were destroyed by high tide, the resort fee for parking is a joke. There is no value parking and not sure why you would have it anyway since you park in front of your hotel room. It is noisy from the road and bar. The room stinks of mold and the blanket had either rust stains or blood on it. I have contacted the hotel numerous times trying to contact someone about our horrendous stay for only $150 a night, and calls were not returned and e-mailed ignored. I will be reporting them to the Florida BPR hotel restaurant. This hotel is one you would pay $60.00 a night for and think you paid too much!
Even the Bates motel had a tub

No carpets, no drapes, no tub. Tropical decor is two rattan chairs and a rattan table. No premium cable, pay per view movies, cups in the bathroom. Staff is nice enough, but the building and furniture are run down and need attention. Great location.
Met my needs, and then some.

The hotel was about hard to find, but worth the trouble. They took care of us and our needs, and I would go back.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Palm Beach Oceanfront Inn Hotel

Mean spirited during a crisis

from A TripAdvisor Member
My family had a reservation, paid in advance by credit card, for Aug. 13, 2004. We were unable to make out trip due to Hurricane Charley, since we live in the projected landfall zone. Calling to let them know of our cancellation, this hotel refused to refund or credit any of the entire night's room charge, even during this special circumstance. I would certainly never again patronize a hotel which will probably double-sell my room!

Good Deal

The rooms were plain but very clean. The best part of this place was the beach. Although rooms don't have views of the beach, our door was only a few feet from the beach. It was a very very relaxing stay! Its not the Ritz but then again neither was the price!

Great old fashioned value

This is the kind of hotel that existed in Florida before the chains took over. Basic, ocean front & inexpensive. Our rooms (136 & 137) were exceptionally large and adjoining. We emailed ahead, asked and got a very good summer rate for two rooms that was less than $80 per room. The beds and bedding were comfortable and updated as well as the tiled floors. The a/c worked well, was quiet and easy to adjust.
The pool area was adjacent to the retaurants and one had a choice of dining in or out, both with a view of the ocean. I loved the old Florida ambiance of this area.
I did not like being charged $26 daily for two beach chairs & an umbrella. Coming from Utah I could not bring my own and the (free) chaises filled quickly on the small pool deck.
The bar was small, but lively & frequented by locals. the food I thought was excellent but not cheap. the music was too loud- but hey Im getting old.
It is apparent that this is a work in progress. The bathrooms could use some attention- as they were dated, a bit mildewed- but clean and amply sized.
They have a weird policy about not allowing guests to have visitors, which I ignored- since we had friends and family in the area who came over to eat, drink and swim from time to time. I imagine it was due to the limited parking. No one confronted me about our vistors. We stayed four nights.

Excellent stay-bang for the buck!!!

If you are going to the Palm Beach area and are looking for a place to stay this is the place!!!! As a first timer to the Palm Beach area, I had know idea what to expect. I visited Palm beach for an overdue long weekend solo in November 2003 and had an awesome time. The rooms were clean and very quaint right in front of the "big blue". I stayed there for four nights and I was extremely impressed. The staff were friendly, very hospitable, and made my vacation quite enjoyably...basically the sky was the limit. I got to the hotel at 9:30a.m. from the airport and they even let me check into my room by 10:00a.m. and by 10:30 I was soaking up the sun!!! The Palm Beach Oceanfront Inn felt like home away from home so much that I decided to go back 7 weeks later to celebrate New Years and my birthday. My friends and I were contemplating where to vacation and when I told them of my experience we were on our way. We stayed there for 10 nights starting New Years Eve and everyday was wonderful and exceptional from the cleaning staff to the bartender to management. They even offered us a double-upgrade on our room for the last four nights!!! I am not going to say that this place is like staying at the Ritz down the road but this place is affordable and still offers the same type of amenities and outstanding service for half of the cost. So if you want to save a few dollars, sleep in a clean and renovated room/suite, sunbathe in front of the ocean, enjoy some drinks beside the friendly pool-side bar, and go home relaxed this establishment is the winner!! Hats off to the staff for making this hotel a popular place for both locals and visitors to Palm Beach, FL. and for making both my vacations great. I will defintely return!!!

Motel on the Ocean

from AndrewinMiami
First, I was lucky to get an excellent rate at the hotel by surfing the web. Otherwise, I would have been very disappointed to have paid full rate for this motel by the ocean. The rooms are clean and have been tiled recently (was carpet according to the owners) but to pay 3/4 Star prices a night as seen in some places would have been too much. The pictures you see on most sites do not show that most sleeping rooms have a parking lot view. The restaurant is OK but pricey in the evening. A better breakfast joint is a 5 minute walk south on the beach. All in all and OK place if you get a good rate. Direct access to the beach is a plus.

Quality Rate and Stay

For all the reviewers who posted looking for a red carpet treatment...head down the road to the Ritz and spend $400.

If you want to relax, have a drink, and overlook some of Americas best waters, hit this beach up! They serve some AWESOME food, have GREAT staff, and very nice rooms. We paid around $100 per night during peak season, and we got exactly what we paid for. We're a bit smart, and know that we wont get marble flooring and silk bedsheets, but who in their right minds goes to palm beach to stay indoors? We had a clean room, awesome cleaning lady who had us laughing, and very comfortable bed!

My friend and I were on a business trip in west palm beach and decided to stay on the beach since we were in Florida. Our 3 day business trip truned into a mini vacation were on the beach every morning we had great dinners by the ocean and even golfed the public course that walking distance from the hotel. It was a treat!

Great deal!

We just returned from a weekend at the Palm Beach Oceanfront Inn. I must admit we were very nervous after reading some of these reviews. But, we had a great time! No, this isn't the Ritz (it is down the road, and will charge your $600 a night rather than the $79 we paid). If you are looking for a high-rise... this isn't it. If you are looking for fancy rooms... this isn't it. If you are looking for a clean room, including a small kitchenette and living area, with the best location on the beach... you have found it!
Our room opened up to the pool/bar area. It was a little loud on Saturday night, but got quieter by 11:00 p.m. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. The lunch wrap we had was great. The dinner (overlooking the ocean) was super! I got a mixed seafood plate, and everything was great, but the crab cakes were fantastic!
The staff was not "in your face", which I guess some people would consider rude, but I liked it. The pool was nice, and it was very nice swimming in the pool, overlooking the ocean.
I cannot say enough about what a deal it was. Oh ya, and the bed was comfortable, which I find unusual for a hotel.

It used to be nice at this hotel...

I was introduced to this hotel 10 years ago by my husband who lived in South Florida for over 17 years. He and his close friends used to take their families there and get rooms and have a great time. The first two times we stayed there, I realized that it was not a high-class hotel, but I did enjoy the stay and found the accomodations modest, but at least clean and functional. The most recent time we stayed there, the place was under new mgmt. which obviously was a big mistake. The facility was falling down around itself and stank. The room we rented hadn't been cleaned and we waited all afternoon for access to it. Of course, they charged us for the pool chairs even though THEY caused our wait. When we did arrive in our room, the airconditioner fell out of the wall! It also had leaked on to the filthy carpet below it. The bathroom, which had not been cleaned at all (sand in the shower, dirty sink and toilet) had a defective sink that was standing on one leg! One bump and the sink would have fallen on the floor (possibly on someone's foot!). We haven't stayed there again and it's a sad shame. This quaint hotel used to be a nice place and now is a dirty hole. Obviously the "new management" is concerned with only making money from unsuspecting travelers who think the hotel can't be that bad because it's in Palm Beach, and near the Ritz. (By the way, it's "near the Ritz", not right next door.) Don't waste your money, the place is nasty and the glowing reviews must either be fake or posted by people who don't care what their accomodations are like.
