Fabulous service, great experience

from palladium35
We chose the Four Seasons over the Breakers for a 5 day vacation, hoping for a quieter, less chaotic scene. Although the grounds are not anything memorable, the service and everything else was. We had a 22 month old toddler and she was made to feel welcome everywhere--not one person, staff or guest, made us feel uncomfortable. In fact, the staff went out of their way to befriend her; she received gifts in the restaurants, and on one occasion one of the waitstaff heard us talking to her about blueberries and spontaneously brought a bowl of blueberries, not just that morning but also the following morning! The room was spacious (garden deluxe) and the accomodations more than adequate for us and the toddler (who had a crib) with a nice large marble bathroom with separate toilet area. We were in the north building so our balcony looked out onto the adjacent Hilton--not great, but we weren't there for the view. They set up a baby pool on the beach daily and there were plenty of beach toys; the regular pool was also a good option; the staff came by with incredible fresh strawberries at various times. The food in the 2 restaurants we tried was always excellent and while not inexpensive, definitely seemed appropriately priced and not a total rip-off. We were a little worried that traveling with a toddler would present problems, but the staff at the Four Seasons made it all so easy. The experience definitely exceeded our expectations.

My wife 10 year old child and myself just returned from a 10 day vacation in Palm Beach.. The hotel service was outstanding, no wish or request was denied. Brad the conceige called several evenings to see if we needed anything... The spa facilities were well maintained and staffed with attentive people..We were always greeted at the pool by name and shown to our chairs... The hotel arranged for a driver every evening to take us to and from town as directed by brad...My son made new friends and and we felt very comfortable allowing him to have free access to the hotel...

Our family has stayed at many Four Seasons hotels throughout the world including this past spring break at the fabulous Four Seasons Maui. We were extremely disappointed with the service at the Four Seasons Palm Beach from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. The only positives were the wonderful kids program and the beautiful oceanfront location. Our room was not ready until two hours after we arrived (past the 4:00 p.m. check-in time), our children never received any welcome amenities as they normally do at a Four Seasons, we didn't receive the roll-away bed we requested for our son, and there were no coffee cups, juice glasses or water served with our room-service breakfast. Other than the bellman and bartender at the pool restaurant, the employees were not friendly, and the employee at the spa desk was extremely rude. Also, as stated in another post, the service at the pool was almost non-existent. Not once during five hours of relaxing in a cabana poolside did anyone offer us a drink. Although some of these things would be considered minor problems at another hotel, we have come to expect much better service at a Four Seasons.

Very Good Hotel

Goregeous hotel with lots of programs for children. I would give the service a 4 out of 5 because they seemed a little bit slow, but overall everything else was fantastic.

for rich families only

I've stayed at almost 30 four seasons around the world - palm beach was a crashing disappointment. The place itself was a discredit to the definition of resort. There was nothing inspired about the common areas; there was a rickety basketball hoop in the parking lot (where self-parking cost more than $20 per day!). The structural quality of the hotel was poor - soundproofing was nil to none - everytime a door closed on my floor, the entire room shook. additionally, i found the staff robotic and dull, spouting the same, corny four seasons training manual lines "we've been expecting you!" but with zero sincerity. I am seriously upset with four seasons for letting sub-par hotels like this stay under their flag, and i have begrudgingly begun to accept that just as with ritz-carlton, one must pick and choose, and do some serious research, to avoid landing one of their dud properties. And finally: there is nothing that separates this neighborhood from every other hideous condo ghetto other than a palm beach address. the REAL palm beach doesn't begin for another mile at least. The immediate district has all the sex appeal of daytona.

Wonderful hotel but not for those looking for relaxation

My husband and I along with 2 of our 4 children spent 5 days at the Four Seasons in Palm Beach last March.
They gave us a great room with an ocean view and plenty of space.
The hotel staff was very professional and the food and the service was excellent.
Our only complaint was with some of the guests whose behaviour at times made us question whether or not we were staying in a 5 star resort.
I was surprised to find many of the guests running down to the pool during the early hours to mark their territory, by spreading towels over a number of chairs that we noticed they never used most of the time. If you did find a chair around the pool it was anything but relaxing. Everyone had a cell phone and believe me they rang non stop. Have you ever noticed how loud someone is when they are talking on a cell phone?...multiply that by a hundred. It even continued in the restaurants. One day we had lunch outside at the cafe and the table of four next to us were all on their cell phones..they were all talking over each other while their chidlren ran around the restaurant unattended. At one point one of the woman put her feet up on the table. I think the hotels have to set some standards for behaviour in and around the resorts so that everyone can enjoy their vacation. We went there for a rest and after 1 day we ended up sitting on our balcony to read because there was no peace and quiet in the public areas. Our children felt the same way. They said it was very difficult to have a conversation with everyone around us yelling into a cell phone and children running about unattended. After having read many of the reviews of other Four Season resorts I think this is not an isolated problem. I think it is wonderful that the FS are catering to families but I do believe at the same time there need to be a few guidelines for guests who think it is acceptable to allow their children to run around unattended in the restaurants and public areas. It is very disturbing to the other guests. We have 4 children and we are frequent travellers and I believe there is room for everyone at these lovely resorts.
I would also like to see a policy on cell phone use. It really spoils that wonderful relaxed atmosphere that one comes to expect when going to the ocean for a holiday. I spent 5 days at the Ritz Carlton in Palm Beach in February and they did not allow the use of cell phones in the lounge and this was great. We could actually have a conversation without being disturbed. The guests respected the policy and on the whole it was much more relaxing. For this reason we will return to the Ritz and not the Four Seasons in Palm Beach. I hope other Hotels have the courage to put into practice similar policies.

Wow

We stayed for a week in June. The hotel was not busy at all. We were upgraded to an excellent room in the main building with an incredible view. The food was excellent both in the casual dining room (get the French Onion Soup) and fine dining. The food was pricey but with the quality I never felt cheated like I have at some resorts. Matter of fact, we ventured to some local places only to wish we had stayed at the hotel. The service was spectacular from a welcome chocolate wishing us a happy aniversary to very attentive staff at the pool. The pool was the perfect temperature and clean. Beach was soft and well kept. Chairs and umbrellas were abundant and quickly set-up for you. Services for children were excellent. No request was met with any resistance and often anticipated. Having stayed at a number of luxury Florida resorts, the only resort which rivals this one is the Ritz-Carlton in Naples. We plan to return next summer.

We loved it!!!!

We just completed a 4 night stay at the Four Seasons, Palm Beach (6/25 - 6/29). I traveled with my husband and two children, ages 21 months and 5 years old. It was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. We checked in about 2 hours early and our room was still made available to us within 15 minutes of arriving. We also requested a "childproof" room, which was also taken care of in a very timely fashion. The hotel has a "baby pool" set up at the beach under an umbrella, which was fantastic for a small child. Everyday at the pool or beach, the service was fantastic. The children received popsicles, and we were all offered complimentary strawberries, cold face cloths and water continuously throught the day. The food at the pool and at the restaurants was always top notch. Our room was lovely, very clean and best of all , baby proofed. The electrical outlets were all covered and the terrace was made safer by placing mesh netting all along the railing so that he could not possibly slip through the slats ( or throw anything over). I cannot say enough good things about our stay. We cant wait to return!!!!!

Fantastic place to stay!!

From when you arrive to when you leave the service here is great. The rooms are very fresh and bright, the bed is extremely comfortable. The bathroom is very big and has everything that you may need. We enjoyed the French products and the attention to detail such as the nail file and fresh flowers.

The font desk was helpful in checking us in 3 hours early as we had requested. The pool area is well kept and the attendants were always ready to prepare your lounger with a towel and supply ice water apon request. Fresh strawberries were provided daily at the pool! This was a nice touch.

The beach is well kept and again ice water was readily available and the attendants could not do enough to make our stay very comfortable. In the afternoon ice lollies were provided. Fresh fruit was available all over the hotel. The unbrellas and chairs on the beach were complimentary unlike the Hilton next door.

The restaurants served great food, healthy fare if requested and service was friendly.

The Salon and gym are well equipped and a great way to spend time while either waiting to check in or after checking out. The gym is a little on the small side and could do with better stationary bikes.

The concierge, Brad, was very friendly and helpful going out of his way to find a DVD that we wanted to watch.

The property is well kept and very classy.

We will definitely stay there again!

Terrible Service

from adriNorthport
What a huge disappointment. We booked a rather expensive room with an ocean view and would have been better off next door at the Hilton. We had to call the front desk at least three times a day for simple things like towels and soap!! There were no ice water, chilled towels or fruit skewers by the pool until day five and none of the treats promised for my son arrived until I called down for them. This resorts promises alot but delivers nothing. Supposedly you pay a higher price to stay here for all of the little extras. Well that would be fine if the extras actually showed up!!
