Great place for a family vacation. Easy beach access, big pools. Close to South Beach, where you can go to party and later come back and relax to the suite. By the way, these are really suites, they're huge. My wife, my two kids and myself never bumped into each other. Great staff and service.

Started with dealing with a Karen Dennis over the phone then met her at check-in she was great. You see it was my 2nd visit in the space of a month. Yes, I loved it so much I first went with my best friend then later with my then boyfriend two weeks later and I stayed in the same room. The place has two swimming pools and one of the pools leads straight to the beach. The hotel food is good, the staff very friendly esp. by the pool bar. We just had a blast I think about the Alexander hotel all the time and can't wait till I visit again. Who knows it may be for something as big as a honeymoon or wedding. Fingers crossed. FANTASTIC experience. Oh did I tell you the view from the room could make even a blind man smile. I was happy happy happppppy!! GO Alexander!

Great Beach Vacation

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in suite 619, a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo. It was brand new, extremely clean and had everything you could need. Very comfortable beds & pillows and lots of towels provided. I was slightly disappointed in the "ocean view" as it was in the distance over the tops of trees, but the view of the intercoastal was very pretty. The staff was very friendly and helpful and did not mind my 3 little boys running through the lobby. The larger pool that is closer to the beach was wonderful for kids with a large area that was only 3 feet deep. It is right on the beach and the beach is fantastic! We were there in the middle of June and often had the pool to ourselves and maybe 20 people spread out on the beach. Room service was prompt and delicious. We ate one night at Shulas and had the best steaks ever, though not a kid friendly place. The only downside was that the building directly opposite our balcony was undergoing renovations and used very loud jack-hammer like tools when my 2 year old was napping. Of course, he slept through it anyway being so tired from swimming. I would go back in a heartbeat. I wish I was on that beach right now!

Loved Suite 516

from A TripAdvisor Member
We recently stayed at the Alexander Hotel in suite 516 and had a great experience. The hotel is beautiful, the suite is huge and cheerfully decorated, with a great balcony. I loved the spacious room and the beachy feel to it. Perfect for relaxing - the pool area is beautiful and there is direct beach access. I wish I were still there!

Alexander Hotel

The Hotel was okay. I was nervous because of the reviews I read, but I have to say, they were all dead on! The room service was presented very nice, but the food left alot to be desired. The hotel staff was great. The room was great. We had the best one in the place in my oppinion. It was 402. Beach front and a deck to boot. Couldn't ask for more than that. I would stay again in a heartbeat, I would just make sure to hit the grocery store on the way in and skip the room service. The only thing I wish it had was some sort of lounge or bar for the evening hours. ENJOY THE SAY

We had a great time !!

We had a great time !! We stayed 4 days in suite 516. We were 4 adults and 1 infant. This suite is a must : spacious living/dining room, full kitchen (really useful to avoid going to the restaurant everytime with kids), 2 independant rooms with each their own full bathroom. Lot of storage space.
The hotel itself is well located on Miami Beach, with plenty of amenities and direct access to the beach. The people are really nice.
I highly recommend it.

Had a great time

made the alexander the place of stay for my weekend getway from miami.
it was a very relaxing hotel with alot of nice people. the cleaning service was very friendly and the valet service was very prompt. the rooms were a bit outdate in terms of decor but yet the rooms were very large and spacious. the jacuzzi was also a nice addition. i highly recommend this hotel specially if you are looking for somewhere to have a large amount of people staying in the room being that there are so many sleeping places.

great place to stay!

A friend and I recently stayed at the Alexander the week of March 21, 2004. We had the pleasure of staying in suite 1506. As we opened the door to this room I found myself having to pick my mouth up off the floor. It was very clean, we had a kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The oceanview balcony was quite spacious, not private though. We found the staff to be very pleasant and willing to meet your needs. I must warn you about the $8per day resort fee that you probably won't be told about until you get there. You should also know that the food although very pricey (I'm talking $10 for the best angus burger ever and $11 for a margarita) it very good. As for room service don't forget to add tax plus 19% gratuity plus a $2 I don't know all adds up. If you want to do more than relax on the beach you definitely need transportation, theres not much on Collins ave except hotels. Overall I would recommend this place to my family and friends and I would also go back to stay... with a little more $ to spend that is.

Dream Vacation Suite !!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent one enchanting week in Suite 516 of the Alexander Hotel and thoroughly de-stressed and rekindled our relationship. The cheerful suite was extremely spacious with a master and guest bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, living room, dining area and balcony with ocean view! The hotel has access to a private beach, as well as two pools, two jacuzzis, a work out room and sauna and steamroom. We loved lounging or exercising at the Alexander and relaxing in the elegant hotel surroundings. For clubs, crowds, shopping and Miami's historic art deco district, the location is a mere five minute ride to South Beach. We can't wait to return to this sunny, spacious accommodations.

Alexander Suites were great

The Alexander Suites were excellent hotel. The staff was very helpful and kind. I would go there again. Some of the things need a little improving but most of the thing were out of this world.

Beautiful Hotel; suite was tacky

from tpenadiaz
My husband and another couple and I stayed at the Alexander Hotel over New Year's Eve 12/31/03. We were in suite #516. We found the suite to be tacky: the furniture was wood from the 1970s and the tile was white squares - boring. The sofa was in serious need of an upgrade. The frame of the bed in the master bedroom was broken and we had to have it repaired. It was repaired very quickly. The suite was quite spacious, though. Full kitchen, but nothing spectacular. Balcony had ocean and intracoastal waterway views, but mostly all we had a view of was the roof of the restaurant and the roof of the parking lot across the street.

The hotel grounds were lovely: wood everywhere, a beautiful staircase, great pools/waterfall and easy access to Miami Beach. Check in/out was quick, no problems. Valet was ok - the could not find our gold Toyota Camry once.

We also had dinner at Don Shula's on the premesis and the food was delicious - the service prompt and attentive and the atmosphere was warm and cozy.

Good hotel, rooms could be updated.

Very nice vacation

from Duckpab
I just got back from a week at the Alexander with my wife and two small children. We had a really nice time. The room was spacious and clean, and the service was excellent. We had a nice kitchen so we were able to eat most of our meals in the room. Overall, the hotel has a laid back feel with excellent service. We had a great vacation and I will go back without any hesitation. One note of caution is that, as others have observed, the rooms are very hit or miss as they are privately owned condos. We were initially given a room that had not aged well at all.
To the hotel's credit, our room was changed and we were allowed to check a couple of rooms without any problem whatsoever. So if you go, prepare to be a little picky and expect that you may need to ask for a room change.
