I'm not sure what happend with that last gentleman's experience, but mine went just fine. I thought the service was one of the better qualities of the hotel, second only to its value.

Not recommended - atrocious service. At check-in time, our suites were dirty and they had no idea when they would be ready. There was no coordination between the desk (no other staff in the lobby!) and staff. Our rooms were in a block for a wedding, but @ $20/night above the rate for the guest off the street! The manager was rude. Our family of 4 found 2 bath towels, no sheets for the sofa bed, etc, until an hour and 3 calls after 12AM! Phones have 12 useless buttons to hotel areas. Used bath towels were not replaced.
Food service was horrible! The poolside market opens and closes at the whim of the staff.
At checkout, we were given no copy of the receipt!
No one asked to be pampered, but who expects to be mistreated?

the resort is tiny everything is thrown in the building the bar lounge and the chek in desk is in one big room. The rooms were great they are the only good thing about the hotel. I had rented a car and the valet drove it recklesses and brought it back to us with a flat a then tried to say we gave it a flat so the hotel security refused to do any thing about it Julio Urbina looked at my tire and said we gave the car a flat. I asked him to take me downstairs to the parking lot and he showed me wheremy car was parked right next to the storage for brken funiture the whole area had plenty of sharp objects that can poke a whole in tires. I asked Mr. Urbina why was my car parked in the parking lot so close to the sharp objects and broken funiture he told me to trust him that the way my tire was poked it was done while I was driving the car I said are you crazy the only one who drove the car was the valet and me. He told me to trust him he knows flats and tried to talk me out of arguing. the car was rented no one had to pay for it but the valet or security refused to admit that it was their fault. The rooms and view are excellent but the staff and the size of the hotel can use improvement......

During a week's vacation we stayed in three hotels, Ocean Point Resort being the last. Overall, very nice accomodations.
Ours was the cheapest room they offer - a studio. It is no different than any other hotel room you might get at a three star hotel, with the exception that the balcony overlooks the ocean since you are right on the beach.
If you move up to a one bed-room suite or higher, you will immediately notice the difference: much roomier, more amendities, and you've moved beyond the "hotel" type room. You also pay a chunk more.
Having read other reviews before we arrived here, we had some trepidation about rude staff, extra fees, etc. We did not find that to be true. The staff was very courteous, even the cabanna boys on the beach. There is a $16 per day fee for valet parking (you cannot park your own car) and then it is polite to tip on top of that, but even if you go out twice a day it still costs less than many downtown Miami hotels for parking.
And the $6 per day "facilities" fee was only charged to my wife and I, and not our 16 and 19 year old. Well worth it for the beach chair/towel service, the health club, the extra facilities.
All in all, a very pleasant experience. Is it a 4 star resort? Well, maybe 3 1/2. Was it worth the $140 a night (Hotwire)? I suppose we could have stayed at some "off-beach" location for a lot less, but you'll not find anything on the beach this nice for that price.
I say, "well done, Ocean Point."

Amazing View

Stayed at Ocean Point for 4 nights for a conference last week. I had great trepidation toward staying here, due to the negative reviews on tripadvisor. But upon arrival, the front desk, Xavier, was efficient and helpful, and he pointed us to a Argentinian restaurant just down the street call El Telmo, whose skirt steaks were excelente. Perhaps we got lucky, but our two-bedroom suite ($200/night) was spacious with a breathtaking ocean & city view. The bedrooms probably warranted 3 stars (out of 5), but they served their purpose. So did the bathrooms. The kitchen had almost everything we needed. It was very quiet at night during our stay and the cleaning lady came at around the same time in the afternoon everyday, which was helpful. I didn't deal with the cabana boy, as other reviewers did, but I do agree that the staff's friendliness at times needs some upgrade to match the amazing location. A stroll on the white sandy beach, which was right behind the hotel, was an incredible experience. This would be an excellent vacation choice if it was a bit cheaper.

I have just returned from a week stay in Ocean Point and wanted to share my excitement. The One Bedroom suite was great, lots of space and comfort, magnificent view, large balcony...perfect for extended stay.
The staff is friendly, attentive and informative. The beach... just wonderful. The only inconvenience was that I we were on an early flight and arrived @ 12 am but check in time was @ 4 pm. I will definitely consider this place for my future stays.

We went to Ocean Point for a long weekend. We checked go to check in early (before 2) and go right to the beach. We had a 1 bedroom suite which was perfect for us and our 13 month old son. He had a blast on the beach, in the pool, and on the playset next door.
All the restaurants within walking distance were beat. But there is a nice Walgreens right across the street to buy milk and bannanas. My biggest complaint was that the coffee maker in our room was a single cup. We had a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven but the coffee maker was so small it wasnt worth making anything in it because my husband and I would have to alternate having a cup of coffee. Also they dont give you any dish soap for the dishwashwer or for regular washing which I found ridiculous. Why give is this great big kitchen and not the ability to wash anything! Who wants to pay 2$ for a bottle of soap they may use twice.
We will come back though because it is close to the airport, relatively quiet spot for parents with kids.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Ocean Point for 1 week, and overall we were fairly underwhelmed. The place was billed as a 3-4 star hotel, but really seemed more like a pretender than a solid 3+ - star hotel.
The attendants at the front desk were mostly cold and arrogant, and seemed to care little about our well-being. Our room was supposed to have a fridge, but in reality only had a little microfridge filled with overpriced junk. We had to remove half the stuff just to cram a few things of ours into it. The room was pretty standard, with a very nice balcony overlooking the ocean. Getting ice was a bit of a hassle, as we had to get it from the bartender who would only provide it to us at certain times. The beach adjacent to the hotel was decent, albeit unremarkable. The pool was tiny and while the brochure claimed their jacuzzi had a "cascading waterfall", it was really more like a trickle of water coming down. The location was also a hassle if you want to go into South Beach, and the front desk told us that various nearby attractions were much closer than they actually were. At the end they also slapped us with some extra hidden charges, which left a bad taste in my mouth. All in all, the Ocean Point just doesn't live up to its own hype.

I returned from my wonderful vacations in South Florida. I have to mention that thru my stay in three diferent hotels in Key west, Miami and Orlando the most I enjoyed was Ocean Point. The accomodation is perfect we stayed in a beatiful two bedroom suite. Is Luxurious, convenient, kitchen with full utensils, the view is magnificent, I was concern at my arrival about a small issue with the carpet and the terrace, but I was surprised how fast Patricia and Bibiana assisted me and my family and how well they both coordinated all the information about our multiple requests and also they both were calling us every day to follow up if we were enjoying our stay. All the staff were very friendly but I really give credit to the supervisors Bibiana and Patricia, you guys really know what is a good the customer service and made us feel as a very personalized service. Thank you Ocean Point and Staff, I travel once a year and I work hard to pay a good place for my family vacations. I don't regret and I will repeat it. Ms. Blasini from Argentina.
EXCELLENT vacation at Ocean Point Beach Resort

This was one of the BEST vacations of my life! My family and i just spent one week in South Florida. I had read some of the negative comments and, farnakly, was concerned. What a pleasant surprise. We had this great Two Bedroom Oceanfront Apartment (thank you to my agent to "insisting" that we upgrade to Oceanfront). Out of curiosity, I looked at a regular Two Bedroom - it is definitely worth paying the additional price.The service was very good and efficient - and everyone was very friendly, which is probably the most important. The beach staff did a great job setting us up with lounge-chairs, umbrellas and towels. The also were "defending" the hotel beach from outsiders coming from other buildings and trying to use the hotel equipement. And some of these outsiders were rude to the staff. I have to give them credit; the staff remained calm. Personally, I probably would have told off these obnoxious people.I contacted the local Tourist Bureau before my trip and they gave me great recommendations. The area is really developing.

BTW, the beach in front of the hotel is less crowded and also much wider!All in all, a great vacation. I can only recommend to get the Oceanfront rooms, if you travel with a family. Ocean Point Resort fails

Ocean Point Resort bills itself as a luxury hotel. Charging hundreds of dollars a night for each class of room, $6 a day per person to use the beach and pool (whether actually used or not), and $16 a night for parking does not making an establishment a luxury hotel. Service makes an establishment a luxury hotel and Ocean Point Resort fails this test.
The rooms are as nice as those at the Holiday Inn. They do include small refrigerators and microwaves ovens, but the bed was so close to the refrigerator that we could only open the door halfway.
There was no significant noise from the street, but the hotel did check a group of young women in at 3:30 AM next door to us. This meant that from 3:30 ? 4:30 AM we got to listen to doors and other banging as the women moved their bags in and got settled. This would be more understandable if the hotel were not nearly empty.
The store downstairs had signs on both of its doors posted that it opens at 6:30 AM. They didn?t open until 10 and refused to open before then, despite what the signs said.
Room service never answered when dialed directly - each time I had to call through the front desk. On Sunday, 22 February 2004, when we called room service, and then called the front desk, the front desk told us that room service didn't open until 6 pm despite the room service menu stating 5 pm and then HUNG UP ON US. The food was not as good as that at Burger King. My $22 ribs were served with icy spots. My $9 bagel was microwaved.
The hotel's web site states that every unit has a VCR. Ours didn't. We had to "discuss" this with them in order to get one without being charged additional for it.
The one bright spot was Ray, the man who brought the VCR to our room.
He was friendly, positive, and helpful.

We just returned for a stay at the Ocean Point Beach Resort & Spa in Miami FL. The best part of this resort is their website. We were told we would have a one bedroom suite. We ended up with a cramped and dirty room. The carpet had many many stains on it. The toilet roll holder fell apart every time you tried to remove some tissue. The bathtub had no stopper. The tub surround was missing caulk. The worst part was when we brought it to the manager's attention, she simple made excuses. We asked twice for wash cloths and hand towels from housekeeeping and never received them. The worst part was the second time was in front of the manager and she assured us it would be taken care of but it was not. The bar and "restaurants" weren't open. All in all it was a very disappointing place to stay.
Top Local Tips for Miami Beach
Flying into Fort Lauderdale Take the GO Shuttle to and from the hotel, it is inexpensive and we have used the company each time that we fly into Fort Lauderdale.
Timo on Collins in Sunny Isles A bright point in my trip to Miami was dinner at Timo (17624 Collins Ave). This restaurant is the secret treasure that the local foodie crowd doesn't want people to know about, I'm just glad I stumbled upon it. They had a great wine list, fantastic food, amazing service, and while its on the higher end of most people's price range, it was well worth the cost. Definately make a stop here!

Had to use our own batteries for the tv remote (the power button on the tv set was missing). Called the front desk about the tv but no one ever came up to check it out.
No wireless internet service, had to sit on balcony to connect to a neighboring hotel. The internet terminal down in the lobby was broken until our last day there.
Elevators are teeny tiny and creak at every floor.
Reception Staff was not helpful.
$5.00 to wash 1 load of laundry in the hotels laundry facilities. (The 4th floor dryer does not get hot.)
Tiki bar can get very loud at 1am.
The beach was nice and fairly clean. There were plenty of chairs available. I would not advise a friend to stay there though when there are so many nearby hotels that are much nicer.
