Top Local Tips for Miami Beach

Not as hot as I anticipated I booked the trip in May thinking it would be unbearably hot and humid but to my suprise the weather was actually wonderful! It made it alot easier to enjoy the beach and tourist type activities.

RENT A CAR If traveling to Miami Beach, my suggestion would be to rent a car. You'll end up spending just as much with the airport shuttles and taxi's. That cab drivers are sneaky and will try to "race" their meters. We were coming home from an evening out and the cab driver started the meter at "$5.00" rather than the regular "$2.50" thinking we wouldn't notice. Well, he said that was the evening rate. We got out of the cab and into another one, whose cab driver stated there is no evening rate change. PLEASE WATCH OUT!

Looking for fun, but not into all night drink-fests We went in early September. I guess it's the "slow" season. There were still plenty of people and we had lots of fun at the beach and going out at night, but it wasn't packed with the crazy spring-breakers you might associate with Miami Beach. We also got good deals on flights and hotels due to the season.
