A very wonderful staff

My brother and I stayed at the Delano for three nights, It was very nice and mostly relaxing, There is an air about the guests that is very exspensive, This may be what you want to experiance i am not sure, What I am sure of is that you will be treated very well by the staff which is what anyone wants no matter where they stay, some of the geusts may be a bit snooty but they become very easy to make fun of. I will stay there again weather it be a very popular spot or not, And weather the people remain snooty or not I very much enjoyed my stay. PY

I stayed a long weekend at this hotel and it has to be one of the best hotel experiences I have had. This Hotel is simply stunning - very dramatic. Staff is very helpful, attentive and professional, so are concierge services - unlike some other "high-end" Miami hotels. Pool area is literally picture postcard, sorrounded by large cabanas. Room is all white, sleek, very comfortable beds and sheets. The only negative is that the hotel hosts many parties and lobby can be crowded at times. Also hotel is expensive - expect to pay over $300.00 a night for winter rates. I am saving money to stay again...and again!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Delano twice this year (Aug & Oct). Each time for a long weekend. We loved every minute of every day of our stay. We are two very busy professional people who enjoy being pampered to recharge our batteries. The Delano is the perfect place for exactly that.

We spent all day by the pool and went out to some fabulous local restaurants (recommended by the concierge) for dinner. Each night ended with a nightcap while lying on the oversized mattresses by the pool bar.

Don't believe the stories of the pretentious staff! Everyone from the bellman to the pool staff was freindly and very accommodating to our every whim. If you're the type who wants to dress in cutoffs and a parrothead T-shirt this may not be the place for you. If you have a sense of style and enjoy a staff and other guests who also do...this is the place!

We plan on going back at least twice a year forever!

We stayed in a loft and the veiw was excellent. the room was bright and and very roomy. i would vote that it has the nicest pool area with the buglos and surface water pool. We had a great time and would go back tomorrow.

I got back yesterday and enjoyed reading the other reviews. They are all totally accurate, so this place really is about personal levels of tolerance of the cool vs. comfortable thing. The food is very good, the pool is excellent, and the service is also very good IF YOU LOOK THE PART (rich or cute). My friend, who does not dress as well, was treated somewhat differently and it was noticeable. That part of the stay is rotten.

The beach facilities are so awesome and comfortable, as is lounging by the pool. In contrast, the rooms are tiny for the price. We had an ocean deluxe, which is not worth the price. The windows are too tiny- save money and go with the regular room as the beach is right there in front of you anyways. If you get a manicure, request Kim. This is the best one I have had in my life. The energy healer was astounding.
Regular treatments are just so so and very pricey. If you do the aromatherapy massage, you get to keep the big bottle of leftovers, so this is a bargain (relatively) and pleasant.

The other posters are right- South Beach is just so gross. There is nothing decent outside of the hotel, and after 2-3 days, the trendiness and overall emphasis of aesthetics over comfort at the hotel starts to get to you. So make it quick and it will be fun.

high class hotel

i recently stayed at the Delano in mid September, i had a wonderful time, the service was excellent. the rooms were spotless as was the entire hotel. you must try the heated pool with underwater music. The food at the pool is expensive but it tastes nice. i would recommend this hotel for single or married couples looking to unwind.

Delano=unbelieveable! : Poolside cabanas and romantic sheers

My family stayed at the (somewhat rundown) Fountainbleu Hilton, however- the highlight of our stay was a poolside meal in a cabana at the Delano. Do whatever you have to spend time at the Blue Door. Plasma TV's in the cabana beside the pool make this property truly unique. Go here~ Stay here! I took my sons and they loved it- age 15 and 10.

Check in was a major glitch!

Stayed for two nights in August....at first thought two nights would not be enough...it was! Check in was a big mess. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. Our room was guaranteed to be ready at 3:00 p.m. The person who dealt with us said to go to the bar and have a cocktail on the house, and that he would be back in 15 minutes to get us. After 30 minutes, and no one to be found...my huband walked over to the reception area and was told by the same person our room still was not ready, however another room was ready and we could take that one. We were told the quality of the room would be the same....we requested an ocean front room. At that time we were promised complimentary breakfasts vouchers....nothing came! It wasn't until the reception person saw us the following day and apparently remembered that vouchers were slid under our door. The problem was we only had one more morning and we had to check out at 6:00 a.m. and the restaurant wasn't open that early. so much for the breakfasts!! The room however was nice....small, but nice.
The bell boy who brought our bags went into great detail about the spa.
The drinks everything is expensive. We did have dinner at the Blue Door...that was a remarkable meal. David was our server and he made the evening fun. The food was great! Expensive, but great! I would recommend an evening at the Blue Door. The whole South Beach area was a big disappointment...dirty, vacant buildings. Maybe ten years ago it was a happening place, but not now. A major face lift is definately in order.

Wow $8 for a beer

Just got back from 5 day at the Delano. I would not recommend 5 days here. A day or two would be great. But the new wears off and then you start to think about all those $8.00 beers you drink and wow. The pool is great, the pool bar was impressive, but over all I would have to rate the hotel and 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.

If you do go, avoid the sushi bar, it was the worst. Go down two blocks to the the Shore Club's sushi bar, it was some of the best I have ever had.

I have been going to South Beach for several years and it is slipping.
The streets look run down and dirty, a lot of empty buildings, the good bars are few and far between. Seems like South Beach is living off an old reputation. Hopefully it will make a swing up, otherwise we need to find a new place to party.

Next trip - The Delano!

I didn't stay there but thought the bartenders were really nice (they made the best apple martini ever) and the prices were pretty much comparable to other upscale South Beach bars. The pool bar at night is a must see. Next trip I'd love to stay at the Delano.

Top Local Tips for Miami Beach

Lincoln Road A lot of nice places to eat outdoor on Lincoln road,, and lots of shops. .don't be stuck eating in a Hotel

Beating the July heat Be prepared to spend the day at the pool and/or beach. It is oppressively hot and humid. For people not used to humidity, exercising on the beach is uncomfortable even at 6:30AM. Around 5-6PM a breeze kicks up and this is a great time for a walk near the beach. But by 8 or 9 the breeze disappears and simply walking down Ocean Blvd will cause you to break a sweat.

Gratuity on restaurant bills Don't forget that the immediately added gratuity on your bill can be decreased or completely taken off the bill by you, the customer. It's a SoBe scam and when we received poor service, we made sure the restaurant knew this by forcinng the removal of the gratuity which after a bit of hassle with the waitstaff always was removed.
