Historical Traveller Reviews of Bentley Luxury Suite Hotel
Very Comfortable
from A TripAdvisor Member
A great secret in Miami Beach. Rooms focus on comfort with kitchens, great views and very attentive service. It does not have a gym nor a restaurant on property; but they do have suggestions on where to go.
Value for the money paid is well worth the trip. Go and enjoy.
Great Hotel

I must admit that after reading all the reviews I was extremely nervous about staying at the Bentley. Even after one of my best friends (who had stayed there recently) told me it was a nice hotel, I still had reservations about it and almost went with another hotel. I read it was noisy, small and the part about it being over a gas station and next to an animal hospital really freaked me out. But when I got there I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased. It is true that the rooms are small but what people need to understand is that this is NY and space is very hard to come by. Yes, even on the Upper East Side. And even with that in mind my room wasn?t all that tiny. I mean I?ve actually stayed in hotels where the rooms were much smaller. The Bentley is not a chain hotel like the Hyatt or Marriott. As a matter of fact it?s NOT the Hyatt and you aren?t paying Hyatt prices either so what do these people want!? It's a great little boutique hotel with marble and glass bathrooms and huge picture windows! It has modern/contemporary furniture and it's oh so comfy! I was on the 5th floor directly over looking part of the gas station and wasn?t bothered by it at all. The constant sound of cars I read about, well that?s true but it didn?t keep me up at night and again this is NY CITY CITY CITY CITY!!! Expect the sounds of being in one of the biggest cities in the world! There are going to be cars, lots and lots of cars in any CITY. If you want absolute quiet I?d suggest staying in Long Island or somewhere like that. I mean really I?m very upset about how misleading the other reviews were. I mean these people were just plain unreasonable. They want quiet in the CITY, they want great location in the middle of everything but want a huge room as if they were staying at a hotel that was built in the middle of nowhere where space is not an issue. I don?t get it. Now, I?m about the pickiest women on this entire planet and I was extremely comfortable. I was even okay with walking around the room with no shoes on. BIG BIG PLUS! I?ll admit that the service could have been better and the staff could have been a tad friendlier and accommodating but it wasn?t so bad that I?d never stay there again. And trust me I?m not one to take crap off people but, I?ll say it again, this is NY. I?m not making excuses I?m just being realistic of what to expect in a different city. You don?t go to NY and expect southern hospitality same as you don?t go to ATL and expect things fast fast fast like they are in NY. So all you folks coming from small cities and towns don?t expect a room so big you can do cartwheels in it. Expect a nice clean place to stay where the ambiance is nice and the down comforters and pillows are extremely comfortable. So comfortable that my boyfriend and I didn?t leave the room all weekend long! Enjoy!Oh, and p.s. The rooms and lounge look exactly like the website.
Loved the Bentley

My husband and I just got back from spending 4 days at the Bentley.
This is a GREAT hotel. Even though we did not have an ocean view, we still loved our room. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to South Beach. Very friendly staff. Location is quiet enough for sleeping, yet only steps to the action. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in South Beach.

Peaceful, relaxing environment. Hotel lobby located on 2nd level; good impression leaving Ocean Drive and taking elevator to another floor to check in. Rooms are very spacious for South Beach standards. Excellent roof top pool (limited lounge chairs) with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and downtown Miami. Limited room service--but Ocean Drive is right out your door.

Great hotel! Located on Ocean Drive but not in the crazy, congested area. Spacious rooms (all suites) with kitchens. Very attentive staff that cares about your experience. Fantastic rooftop deck with pool.
Best views of Miami and the Atlantic Ocean. A must stay while in Miami Beach.
Fantastic

My husband and I went to SoBe for 8 days to celebrate his birthday in October 2003. I researched every hotel and finally chose the Bentley and am so glad that I did. From what I can tell, it is the only luxury hotel directly on Ocean Drive. The hotel is on the quieter end of Ocean Drive but trust me still lots of activity. The hotel staff bent over backwards to assist us with everything from reservations for dinner to finding me a great hair cutter to providing us with non-feather pillows. Our room (which was an upgrade for a small fee) overlooked the ocean and had a balcony with chairs and a table (great for breakfast). We had a fully applianced modern kitchen, separate living room, and lovely bedroom. The pool was great (actually on the larger side) with a big deck and lovely chairs and tables. The pool overlooked the ocean it was just perfect! I didnt want to leave!! If you stay on Ocean Drive, look around and you will appreciate the Bentley (but make sure you get a room with a view the alley and courtyard are not ideal) for its friendliness, double paned windows, cleanliness, and lovely décor. This place is a winner.
The best of South Beach

I went to the Bentley hotel on Oct. 3rd, 2003. The hotel is tastefully decorated. I found the staff to be willing and helpful to the guest. We prepaid the room through Quikbook but they apparently screwed up the information. The front desk manager contacted them the next day and fixed the problem without further issues. The room was somewhat small but had plenty of room for two people. I had marble floors, cable TV, a small kitchen with a full fridge, a minibar and enough closet space. The pool area was nice with an awesome view of SoBe. We took really good pictures up there! The pool wasn't big and it didn't look too clean, but I really enjoyed the Jacuzzi. I was not particularly bothered by the lack of launch chairs because I didn't perceive a lack of them. I though there were plenty, keeping in mind that this is not a large hotel! The check out was painless, but keep in mind that if you have a rental and want to use the Valet parking service across the street, you're better off doing the transaction through the hotel, even if you end up paying an extra $5 dollars per night, to avoid confusion. Over all I felt the Bentley was my home away from home and I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in South Beach.

First trip to Miami Beach and we were very impressed. We did research from Tripadvisor and decided on the Bentley. It was very European in the decor and atmosphere. Helpful staff and comfortable beds. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it very much. In most European hotels you get to meet the Managing Director, we could not find them here--our only disappontment. South Beach is such a beautiful city with good looking people. We will be back for more.
Great Experience

Overall, a lovely hotel that delivered excellent customer service (from the bellhop to the front desk to housekeeping). Yes, perhaps a bit less character and Art Deco detailing than some of its neighboring hotels on Ocean Drive, but it made up for that with its significantly larger guest rooms, obvious renovations and luxurious bathroom & linens. Plus, I imagine the noise level is much lower than in most other hotels on Ocean Drive. Almost a perfect location -- a mere block away from where all the action starts. Prompt housekeeping, including turndown service & chocolates each evening.
We stayed for 7 nights, starting off in a Junior Suite. Reasonably sized and well-kept, but just not enough storage space for our clothes (e.g. no dresser) and limited counter space in the bathroom. Would have preferred a dresser over the kitchenette which is a little too close to the bed (e.g. refrigerators make noise). So the next day, we upgraded to a standard 1 BR suite for the remaining 6 nights. Awesome room, especially for the price. Large, very clean and much brighter than the Junior Suite (hint: try to face the street rather than towards the courtyard, which is sort of small and dark). And bathroom was big, beautiful and new -- all marble w/ a double shower.
On our next visit, we may experiment and try a trendier hotel, but only if we can get similar space, luxury and/or service for a comparable price. Otherwise, we'd be more than happy to return to the Bentley.
Top Local Tips for Miami Beach
25 cent Bus
You can catch the south beach shuttle, which is a metro bus that goes up from First Street to Lincoln Road for 25 cents!!! Best bargain in Miami. Catch it on Washington Street and save your tired feet.
Leave the Car At Home
South Beach is like a village, you can walk everywhere. Avoid the stress of driving or finding a parking space and leave the car at home.Taxis are cheap. Also there is an excellent shuttle service to an from the airport. South Beach is about chilling out, s pack you flip flops and leave the car behind.
Leave the car at home
You can walk everywhere in South Beach, you really do not need to bring your car. There's an excellent shuttle service to and from the airport which will drop you right outside the hotel. It's reasonably priced and freindlier to the environemt, so leave your car at home.
